I just looked it up.. mica powders, colored chalks, even eyeshadow. This is how they make colored acrylics. Even TH-camrs that sell their own stuff do it this way. There's no issues with it, as was implied in the comment.. it's not harmful or dangerous. Only thing people need to be aware of is allergies, and that's with any unknown product.
I want putting anyone down, I hope it didn't seem like it. Most use mica powders though.. chalk and eyeshadow are simply cheaper alternatives.
I could see if this was a new procedure, but it's not. 🤷‍♀️

I primarily use hybrid gel (that I've since become allergic to), though I'm interested in trying full acrylic. I'm so glad you brought the subject of chemistry to light and how it plays into structural integrity of the acrylic nail, possible creation of allergies as well as lack of a full cure. I imagine the concept of not crossing chemical sets even carries over to hybrid gels, since they are still a form of acrylic.

Nice video, although the answer was quite obvious because gel polish needs to be cured. I wish you would have asked him if monomer could be mixed with regular polish. I assume the answer to that would have been NO as well, I'm just curious about the reasons.

You could probably add some amount of mica or pigm3ent powder component of nails and have it work fine, just like you can with resin systems for crafting. You could keep all sorts of powdered mica pigments on hand to mix any shade you want., sets of mica samples can be 30$ for 50 colours.

PLS READ I NEED HELP!!!!! ok so i ordered a cheap acrylic nail kit off amazon and the brand is morovan. the monomer bottle says EMA but when i tried to soak it off with acetone it turned all sticky and gummy like MMA. i watched a few videos of people comparing them and it definitely looked like MMA but the bottle says EMA so i’m confused if i’m doing something wrong or if the monomer actually is MMA. if you have any experience with this brand (morovan) or with MMA please help!!

It sounds like MMA love 😔
Another way to tell (sorry kinda gross) is when you file it does it smell like cat pee? If it does then you have MMA ... I like the KUPA odorless monomer (I have a toddler and do nails from home) it does set very slow it's almost infuriating BUT it doesn't stink and it's definitely EMA
      Hope this helped ❤

    • @NailCareerEducation

I’ve never heard of that brand. Keep in mind when you’re soaking in acetone it takes quite some time for it to bloat and fall off the nail, if you take it out too soon it can be rather gummy and sticky, the things that you were describing. So it may be just your removal process.

  • @destanybuxton8980

Well, then make a monomer additive in your collection that basically dyes your monomer to your desired color, and maybe because this additive would be a pure pigment diluted in monomer that it can be used alone or diluted to the preferred shade of the user. This product could possibly also save money on having to buy so many acrylic colors because maybe acrylic powder is more expensive then an additive monomer solution? Plus, it might not take up so much space and since the colors would be highly saturated, each bottle could go a long way depending on how diluted the user chooses to create their custom colors?

My game plan was to just buy cover colors, white, and clear acrylics and then use all my gel polishes to make colors.
I guess I'll have to buy dry pigments? Chalk?

I don’t think regular nail polish is good either but what do I know lol idk the science behind it. In the past I’ve seen people even recommend against using polish for nails and then topping off with a gel top coat. Something about the polish layer cracking? This year I tried that with holo taco and a gel top coat, something weird was going on lol I cured the top coat a couple
Of times and it never felt cured. It remained with a dispersion-like layer.
