Dear Shaheer: Viewing this vlog of yours enabled me to have a good glimpse of the city of Medina in its present form. The city brought forth to my mind the role of social relations, culture, and certain historical events which collectively, among other aspects, contributed to the formulation of the religion of Islam and its evolving through the ages. I do not consider myself to be a scholar of Islam. Even then, my interest in inter-state relations and historical processes propelled me to read an interesting article on the Hajj, that was published in the National Geographic magazine in one of its 1978 issues. I also read an interesting article, titled "The True Islam", authored by a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Egypt, that was published in the January, 1996 issue of the "Reader's Digest" magazine. A wonderful book, titled "No God but God" authored by Reza Aslan, and published in 2011, provided me a comprehensive knowledge of the beginnings of Islam, its contexts, and its journey through the subsequent centuries. Medina was initially known as Yathrib. It has a crucial role in the formulation of Islam. Subsequently, it came to be known as Medina. Isn't it?
