Each clip is filmed in a way that brings you to that moment. Those little slices of a day on the session where you land your truck, you’re right there in the moment and nothing else matters.
Enjoyed it a bunch, Austyn is the man. I don't know why some people are complaining. The video is chill as fuck, it is like he is just cruising around and having fun, just like skating is supposed to be. This is so much more enjoyable than let's say a primitive video, go Austyn, this shit is great!
@@Mordorer when this video was freshly uploaded and had 20 comments some people were complaining about it being too artsy. Now there are a lot more positive comments.
welp,, lot of people are into so called "shotgun editing" pioneered by Zero if i remember corectly - 2-3 second clips(rails usually) stitched together over fast paced punk rock in endless barrage. & it makes only sense that for those people more laid back/chill edits seem too slow :)
@@maxvoitech Yeah I think so too. I mean I like it if its well made put in all honesty I am kind of sick of it for the most part because it is the same thing over and over again and it has been for years.
@@Hoodinator17 skateboarding is trying so hard to be woke it's horrible. I didn't have a problem with trans and gay people skating until I was basically told I did. And as punishment I've got to watch people who aren't even as good as me getting pro sponsors for the sake of being different
@@robmckiernan3264 Yeah I'm guessing they used microphones that they hid out of frame which go to an external recorder, as well as potentially using sounds from a library, I'm leaning more towards the library but there are some moments that are very specific like 2:18 when he rolls off and then over the cracks, either that's the actual audio of that trick being done or it's some really well thought out sound design with library sounds.
@@timethemonkeysurgeon7979 Or they mic'd up Austyn, or they could have had another filmer standing behind the guy with the 16mm camera to get higher quality audio/video from the same point of view, and then it's a matter of extracting the audio, syncing it with the 16mm video and changing the pitch to make it seems like it's real time instead of slo-mo...
There are a handful of 16mm cameras that have microphones but I’m not sure how the sound is recorded. But all in all the sound however they did it was fantastic
Austyn's basic tricks look so much nicer and way more glamorous than those super high technical tricks i see on IG. Dude's got real art flowing in his vains.
So beautiful. It’s worth noting he’s probably not trying anything crazy because 16mm film is super expensive to shoot, digital is way cheaper but it just isn’t the same
From the start… switch back 180 up the stairs… yup, dude’s got style for days. It’s crazy how the first trick tells you how the whole part is gonna go down, but it did. Pure joy to watch! 👏
This is my 4th time checking this video out. Respecr Franz! Thanks for your contributions today and in the past (cky etc) because that shit made my late teens/early twenties awesome! God bless you and cky.
instant classic for me. constant authentic skating and Nico chirps over a clean hippy jump. The cinematography really captures the sense of the city and its overlooked tranquillity
Absolute masterpiece. Much love for putting serious thought and considerations into what music or song to use. "Music is everything " (in video parts) -j- dubs
really atmospheric video & cinematic/16mm look goes well together with Nico's song & dude has a very distinctive/clean style. The surprising part is how did You cleared copyrights for this. If Bob Dylan is a writer then thats kinda high profile . . .
Such a smooth and iconic style. Very impressed.
“less is more”
When your style is so good even the basics look incredible
That's why Quality is more important than Quantity.
That’s where style is always located
this is the most enjoyable skate edit Ive seen this year, I loved watching this so much, so pleasant

Don't need no 16 stair bangers, this is art
Yeah too bad it's 2022 tho. Art is dead AF.
@@johneapleseed6876 it’s better than trans cringe marbie skating lol. This is art compared to that pseudo stuff
@@johneapleseed6876 depends who you ask, there are still those who thoroughly enjoy this more
Yes it was very gender neutral, I'm glad he is transitioning. My guess is he likes a generous helping of soy milk in his tea.

I feel like the sound never gets enough credit in these 16mm videos so yeah nice work on the sound design/editing!
I was wondering this, I'm assuming all the sound is put on there when editing? Guessing these cameras don't have great (any?) sound?

The style of the skating and editing were a perfect compliment. I very much enjoyed this video.
Beautiful stuff. This stands out amongst the relentless barrage of skate videos being released every day. More of this please.
just beautiful, this is what skateboarding represents to me, don't try to be the best, just be yourself the best way possible! thank you austyn
damn what a summary of skateboard
Except Austyn is the best but I agree
Love the way this was filmed and put together. Masterful. Thanks for this
The nollie 360 up the steps was sick.
Right the front pop first too just dope
Everything he does is pretty sick.

what a piece of art, from his skating to the non slowed sfx over slowed images, every detail is perfect
Super sick session - left me wanting more. Dudes got the best style ever man
Elijah Berle switched up his style four times while watching this part.
So beautiful. It’s worth noting he’s probably not trying anything crazy because 16mm film is super expensive to shoot, digital is way cheaper but it just isn’t the same
I could seriously watch an hour of this
Thank you Austyn, once again.
the skating, the music, the videography & editing are all so perfect 😻😻
How on earth is the coolest skateboard clip I've seen all year. Something about this rocks like nothing else.
one of my favorite series ever, love everything about these videos
Always stoked for new Austyn footage.
Austyn x Nico x NYC is a match made in skateboard heaven.
Interesting choice of music for sure. Great edit.
x 16mm film 🥲
It came together so well. This is the epitome of everything I've ever wanted to be
This video gives me a good feeling. Perhaps one of my favorite skate videos ever
I skated as a kid (I'm 50 now) and have no idea how I found this channel but I sure am glad I did.
Skateboarding is just as beautiful as dancing and this forsure captures the aesthetic skating has to offer

This was soo calming to watch loved this style and music 🎉
This is just about the best love letter to BK and NYC I could've hoped for. Thank you

Beautiful video, so simple and makes you feel just how fun skating around a city is. Perfect way to start my day, cheers
instant classic for me.

Lovely little piece. Beautiful.
wow so well done. didn't want it to end
this is the best one yet
One of those videos you don't want to end
This made me happy. Thank you
Jenkem gives me everything i could ever want and or need
A video with great vibes. Could watch on repeat.
WOW! This video is such a blast! Its so relaxing and Austins style is like art!
All skate videos should be edited like this or similar, you can soak in each trick unlike most other videos… this my friend was a delight to watch.
Amazing.
Yep, sure is a great way to start your Monday !
Absolutely loved the entire aesthetic. So good 🙌
So aesthetically pleasing. This is the way I skate in my dreams.
So good! His style is so appealing.
Rad. would love to know more about recording the audio along with this. sounded CRISP! loved it
Lovely filming! So calm and whole body framing.
Very chill vid and skating. Obviously nothing too extreme because film costs money and you can't waste it on bails. Love this
Thank You Austin!
just lovely. nice little piece.
Beautiful, as always
That was like a breath of fresh air. 👏👏👏
beautiful!
Just Beautiful.
Very relaxed part. I love it 😎
So big so compact. The brush strokes true with this one
Christ, this really tugs my heart strings
Aaaaaah Agostino qualità è tornato!

Wow. Thank you
One of the best styles
Sick. Also, great song
beauty, way to show the city love
Hope those frequencies are doing good Austyn! That frontside flip is not easy over that style of bank! Sweet one
austyn is my fav skater again
god bless you austyn / jenkem
Sick skating, sick city
My god this is beautiful.
You don't always need a fisheye lens to make a good skate video! The colour is awesome too, the song with Nico.. I liked it
Jenkem is the best. So is Austyn Gillette… always amazes me how the sound is so in sync can’t be easy as 16mm doesn’t have sound (I don’t think 🤔)
Soooo sick! Beautiful style!
Possibly my fave part of the year - who casually cruises a kickflip over a huge trash can like that!?
Anybody knows what are the shoes of minute 3:15 ?
It looks so smoothhh
Thank you for this video 🙏
Absolute masterpiece.
Much love for putting serious thought and considerations into what music or song to use.
"Music is everything " (in video parts) -j- dubs
This made my day ❤
Watching austyn skate is my ASMR
imagine just being able to do whatever you want on a skateboard lol
tremendous
I liked this quite a bit
Awesome video!

poetry.
I don’t even skate no more but I will always watch austyn parts
Kinda gives me Jim Greco vibes. Love this cinematic style
masterpiece
