Standard 500 exhaust system, however had a slight "breathing" modification carried out by Racing Green TVR.. called their "sports exhaust mod". Engine completely standard also
If you love the sound of V8s (as do I, having owned 4 TVRs, two of which were V8s) here’s a truly epic one... A Tuscan Mk2, but with the TVR Speed6 engine swapped out for a Corvette’s V8, with modified exhausts and other upgrades. You can’t see the car in this video as the camera is mounted on the rear, facing backwards, with the mic positioned to pick up the epic exhaust note (and so you can see the roadside scenery disappear towards the horizon when they really open up the throttle! 😂). Just imagine the stirring soundtrack from the famous car chase sequence in “Bullitt” but WAY BETTER. *BE SURE TO USE EARPHONES* to truly appreciate it... This is what a V8 should sound like... and the gear change tones are sublime... guaranteed to put hairs on anyone’s chest, and to transport you back to the good old days when race car drivers didn’t rely on a ton of electronic aids to drive the car for them. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/oUgWHhbcbZ0/w-d-xo.html
Just love the way you struggle getting the bloody thing into reverse. Dance with mine every time I reverse out of my driveway. But then you put it into forward gears and leave the reverse gear all behind.
Yes that's exactly how I see it, with the cats still in. I'm happy with the sound and the level of noise, because I can use it easily over long distances and not hurt my ears :) (also makes things easier at MOT time!)
I've only just clocked what road this is on, the A120 heading Colchester direction. I used to go mental fast along there in my Essex Boy Racer days haha!!!
well thats torn it, I was all set to buy an Aston Vantage (28000k) but after seeing this video I have driven a TVR 500Griff, I am hooked, why the hell have they stopped making these cars, the last of the GREAT BRITISH SPORTSCAR. I am buying a TVR in BRG wuth cream leather, I will upload when the deals done
I want to see these race against a Camaro z28 or a Mustang 5.0 GT it would be an awesome race! It just shows that Brits make muscle just like we Americans do! We do get Aston Martins here and they are on par with our muscle cars as well but it would be nicer to have more variety banning TVRs from America is bullshit and stupid!
Hi there. It's all up in the description. GoPro Hero 3 Silver, with an Ultradisk 4033 Tie Clip mic. GoPro is mounted on my rollbar behind the seats, mic was run down to the back of the car and stuck beside the rear number plate. Keeps it out of the wind and right next to the exhaust! Kieran
Hi Kieran, Good to see the Griff out.... nice vid. May I ask how you mounted the GoPro. I have manged a similar camera angle on mine but only using the suction mount on the roof of the car... obviously no good when the roof is down. Matthew
This may sound like a stupid question, but there was a way to the road right in front of you at the start. Any reason why you went the "long way round"?
Lincoln England Hi, it's a standard exhaust with a slight modification to the back box - just removed the wadding! Personally speaking I think it's the best balance of better noise but not too annoying. Sadly no longer have the car :(
@@SmartyKD Interesting how much difference that’s made just removing the packing and leaving the baffle in place , just deciding now on what mod to go with ! Full sleeve seems too much this seems about right
Hi Kieran, a couple of questions. 1) I've been told that the Griffith has a heavy clutch, is this true? 2) How long did it take to get use to driving the car? 3) How often should i use it?
CarroBelga Hey, I didn’t find the clutch overly heavy personally I’ve driven sports cars with worse (and I’m not a big chap!). You have to treat it with respect, but because of great steering and long throttle travel it’s all very controllable so I got used to it quite quickly. However I never got used to it’s handling at higher speeds especially on corners, you really have to be brave in those situations! It’s one of the few cars I’ve owned that I was careful who I let behind the wheel. That said it was always great fun. As for use, I would recommend using it as much as you can, these cars go wrong when they just around doing nothing, with regular use it’s a reliable enjoyable car. I did 5k miles a year. Sadly no longer own it :(
This does not sound like you arrive home, it sounds like you return by landing after successful bombing mission in WW2
AH, this is precisely like the Griffith 500 I had back in the 90s. The same search for reverse. Memories!
Geeez!....I was hanging on for dear life and I'm only in bed with the laptop perched on my knees watching this. Imagine being a passenger!

I see there`s no stereo in the car , probably became obsolete with the V8 soundtrack
With a soundtrack like that, I'd throw the stereo out. 😍
Thanks for making this great video and for not spoiling it with talking or music. The car sounds fantastic
Music to my ears, wonderful music.
Go to 45 second that's what a engine should sound like. None of this noise through speakers crap
I have a Tuscie but have to admit the V8 sounds murderous, sheer unadulterated brutality, love it!
right...rover v8 4eva
Always loved the Griff. Driven a couple of 500s...bags of torque and amazing sound.
Nice car
Nice driving
Nice guy
I assumed at 02:17 you had exhausted the fuel supply already! Must be a thirsty beast. Sounds lovely, fantastic little thing
Longest accelerator travel I have ever experienced ,
Total wild beast
you could probably call that.and safety feature ..imagine a QA on that...
Sounds incredible, when you pulled out I thought that road looks familiar, it is - I know this road so well!
god I miss those TVR ! epic ! So rare and pure!
Never ever sell this car. Nothing on the road sounds like that, nothing. One of the greatest cars of all time. Buy a radio.

I like the shape
bring back memories of my Tasmin - but yours sounds even better. no substitute for cubic inches...
16 grand is not a lot for a car that looks that good & sounds so fantastic
Not an RV8 powered one.. costs buttons. I service mine myself.
I have difficulty getting reverse on my Griff as well! Nice work.
very nice video, i love griffith 500, thats just sad the way's not empty i wanted to hear this engine screaming more and more, amazing !
The Griffith was always my favourite TVR by far
I am fortunate enough that my father owns a TVR Griffith And a TVR Chimera, so I’m used to this beautiful rumble
One of my favourite cars... But a TVR driving PAST a fuel stop :) did you fit an endurance fuel tank or something ;)
Haha, very true - you should never miss the opportunity to refuel in a TVR :)
@@SmartyKD I know this stretch of road and if you fill up there it cost a fortune. I too have a Griff and live just up the road from here !
oh my...and beautiful interiors as well
Love Griffiths always have always will what a car what a motor

Le concessionnaire TVR en France était à Thiais à côté du cimetière en 1990... Quelles voitures!
Beautiful TVR I’ve got a 1992 4 litre, I live close to you in Essex might see you about
Sadly no longer own it, but always keep an eye out for Griffs!
What a glorious sound, oh that sound !
NATURALLY ASPIRATED !

An iconic thug of a car! The Griff is still my dream car.
Glorious noise!
That dashboard is simply beautiful

The sound (and also the tasteful dash) 😮
What a beautiful sounding thing. 😍
straight to the petrol station haha awesome. what a car love it

That’s the first time I’ve seen one of these go through a fuel station without stopping! 😂
Great, love sound and interior design..
Great Car! What a fantastic sound ! Video is very cool
the soundtrack for this vid....I would love to have a go with this, just to hear it...
dat sound. amazing.
Thanks! It's the Ultradisk 4033 Tie Clip mic. (link now in the description)
Very nice. Sounds great. I've just been looking at the market for one of these.
Great engine sound. Almost like a nice Ford 351 Cleveland.
I like the sound! This is very good car. 🤘🤘🤘
great Video mate, puts a huge grin on my face whenever i hear that exhaust note ! what's the model number of the mic you were using?
Cheers! Just over the back of the boot near the rear number plate
Sounds like a beast!!!
I am fortunate enough to own one of these and I love her
In the past I owned a 308 but the TVR beats that hands down
Very nice. Does the tall transmission tunnel ever interfere with steering or do you have enough elbow room?
Who needs a radio with griff anyway :P
Nice rig and operation my son. 👍🏻 Vid
Sounds good I know its an old vid but was interesting to see it was filmed at Bradwell lol
Indeed! Lived there most of my life 😁👍
anyone know where i can find spares for tvr griffith 500...engine parts used or rebuilt??
I love the fucking sound of this beautiful tvr !!!
Awesome what are they like to drive / own? I am thinking of looking at one this weekend
It needs to be in FH4 with this sound
Thanks! Should i see this more or less like "sleeving" the standard box? So you also have all cats still in?
Now forgive me as I have never driven one of these but it seems as if the gear box is very stiff?
2:42 everything ok? 😂 How reliable might have to get one one day

It's a dangerous exit there, been many many accidents I've seen in the 30 years I've lived there, it's really not worth it!
Aah ok. I thought it would be something like that
One of the best V8 rumbles
What kind of exhaust-system and/or engine-mods do you have? Sounds good! (Am in the middle of a Griff-restauration)
Great video........Is that a standard or 'sleeved' exhaust? Cheers Nobby

Hi Kieran. What camera and mic did you use and how did you mount them?
Please answer. Thanks
Just beautiful.... there can not be a red blooded male that doesn't like that noise!!!!
This is British muscle

This is a redblood Race Hound ,drive safely
Sounds like a fucking plane ! xD
Nice vid! Where did you mount your mic?
get out of here! I never knew the Griffith was that quick O_O
Only 350 horsepower, then you remember this cars weighs like 2300 pounds. Rocketship.
What engine size can I ask?
Precat or sports exhaust?
500 with slight exhaust mod. Not my car anymore unfortunately
I want it.
THE SMILEY CAR !
F00kin beast
Throaty! 😂😂 Fucking yes😁😁
Nice!!.
Why can't they make those again. Such a waste the new one seems :-(
Sounds like a S197 Mustang GT with an H-pipe and axle-back.
It’s a lion under the bonnet!
TVR a fabriqué des voitures à sensation mais dommage que ça soit si peu fiable.
How the hell could you ever get sick of this sound. GET IT BACK NOW
Best part is 0:49-1:03 😀😎
I can smell that from here :-D
Never heard a British Car sound like an American Muscle Car
Them silver interior air vents look so out of place
That's a Pet-Hate of mine, people driving with their hand constantly on the Gear Lever.
It’s such a lovely feeling knob
