I have met Cardinal Tagle in D.C. He has a youngish, warm, friendly, charismatic personality. What might be described as rock star personality.. The cardinal speaks excellent English having studied at Catholic U. In D.C. Also has other connections to the U.S. Would be a very popular choice and well received across the globe.

I wouldn't really find any of them likely, however, but of the French, those are the only viable options.

I am unabashedly a progressive Catholic. Francis has been the best pope in my lifetime of 66 years; okay, John XXIII was a pretty good pope, too. My choices for the next pope would be for Cardinal Tagle or Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Italy. Cardinal Turkson and Erdo are too conservative in my point of view, even worse would-be Cardinal Burke or Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York. I am a Ukrainian-Rite Catholic, I am most disappointed that Mr. Zerchi doesn't expect a new Eastern Rite cardinal to join the College in the near future. I wouldn't mind if Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery of Eastern Churches was the next pope; at least he would know that Eastern Rite Catholics exist. BTW, I am from Pittsburgh, the hometown of Cardinal O'Malley

For me Tagle and Parolin are far too much in Francis' mould. I'd be more than happy with either Turkson or Erdo, but at 81 years old I hope that I'll feel able to give my full and faithful support to whoever is chosen, which is something I'm finding it increasingly difficult to do with Pope Francis. In the meantime, I'll keep the faith and keep praying, and hope that everybody else does too!
I’m 81 too and love Pope Francis who preaches the Gospel so that it can be lived in daily life. Trads generally ignore the study and interpretation of scripture and prefer devotions and private revelations
