Nun zeige ich Euch das Gladius der Firma US Gladius®.
Vorliegend, handelt es sich um das Modell Legion XIV Elite™.
Verkauft und beworben wird es als "tactical knife" und moderne Interpretation des Gladius der römischen Legionen der Antike.
Über die Abmessungen der Klinge lässt sich lange debattieren, ob dies einem taktischen Messer entspricht. Fest steht aber, dass man ein ziemlich brachiales Monster in den Händen hält. An sich ist es gut ausgewogen und liegt stabil in der Hand. Der Pommel am Griffende stört ein wenig, da sich die recht scharfe Kante an der Hand bemerkbar macht. Ebenso löst sich die Gummierung des Polymerem Kunststoff. Man muss aber sagen, dass ich dieses Messer bereits seit etwa 2016 habe.
Die Kunststoffscheide wirkt etwas minderwertig. Wie altes Plastespielzeug aus den 90ern, ist aber dennoch massiv gefertigt. Die Lösung mit den Druckknöpfen als Verschluss finde ich auch etwas unglücklich, da sie ein schnelles Öffnen nicht wirklich fördern, weil die Laschen zum Greifen nicht lang genug sind. Bedenkt man, dass es sich um eine taktische Interpretation handelt, ist dies wohl nebst der Tatsache, dass die Klinge nicht von allein in der Scheide hält, der negativste Punkt.
Als Stahl für die Klinge kommt 8Cr13MoV zum Einsatz. Der hohe Chromanteil (etwa 14%) macht die Klinge zwar Korrosionsbeständig, trägt aber nicht zur Schneidleistung bei. Dafür lässt sich 8Cr13MoV auf maximal 62HRC härten.
Den Wellenschliff finde ich ein wenig überflüssig, da er weder sonderlich scharf ist, noch dass er optisch mehr aus dem Messer herausholt.
Abschließend möchte ich auf die Koppelbefestigung eingehen. Zwar hat man sich dafür entschieden die Aufnahme Mollekompatibel zu gestalten, aber der Klettverschluss wirkt auch nicht sehr zuverlässig.
Als Teil einer Sammlung durchaus brauchbar, aber als echtes taktisches Messer eher weniger zu gebrauchen. Da gibt es andere, günstigere Modelle.
Bei allen gezeigten Gegenständen in allen meinen Videos handelt es sich um eine unbezahlte Dauerwerbung. Für mich ergeben sich daraus keine geldwerten Vorteile.

The dimensions of the blade can be debated for a long time as to whether this corresponds to a tactical knife. What is certain, however, is that you have a pretty brutal monster in your hands. It is well balanced and feels stable in the hand. The pommel at the end of the handle is a little annoying because the sharp edge is noticeable on the hand. The rubber coating of the polymer plastic also comes off. But it has to be said that I have had this knife since around 2016.
The plastic sheath seems a bit inferior. Like old plastic toys from the 90s, but still solidly made. I also find the solution with the snap fasteners as a closure a bit unfortunate, as they don't really promote quick opening because the tabs aren't long enough to grip. Considering that this is a tactical interpretation, this is probably the most negative point, along with the fact that the blade doesn't hold itself in the sheath.
The steel used for the blade is 8Cr13MoV. The high chromium content (around 14%) makes the blade corrosion-resistant, but does not contribute to the cutting performance. For this purpose, 8Cr13MoV can be hardened to a maximum of 62HRC.
I find the serrated edge a little unnecessary, as it is neither particularly sharp nor does it get more out of the knife visually.
Finally, I would like to talk about the coupling attachment. Although it was decided to make the mount compatible with Molle, the Velcro fastener doesn't seem very reliable either.
Definitely usable as part of a collection, but of less use as a real tactical knife. There are other, cheaper models.
