Dude i‘m a metalhead and i never understood the hate they got… Yeah they went mainstream, but their songs are so catchy and at the end of the day its about writing cool songs, doesn’t matter if more mainstream or not. The same with Metallica, yeah they went mainstream, but c‘mon the songs from load and reload were fire
even their newest material is some of the the heaviest stuff metallicas ever written

I understand the hate. It’s the formulaic late nineties rock song shtick that’s been done a million times, aped by a group of well adjusted former jocks and frat boys. Yes, the vocalist can carry a tune and they can all play their instruments well, but there’s no danger or grit to their music. Fans respect and relate to musicians with damage and trauma that they’re trying to overcome, demons that they’re compelled to exorcise through their music and performances. These guys seem like they eat three square meals a day and never forget to condition their hair after they shampoo. There’s something very “safe” about them. They’re like a well made, pretty knife that won’t cut because it isn’t sharpened. An ornament rather than a weapon. That’s my take, at least.

Hope he can keep that singing voice for ages to come. Sounds a little bit rough compared to the Yahoo Live one from about 5 years ago, but that was a concert setup and this was more of a makeshift studio setup. Still fun song to listen to.

Great job guys!! What type of Gibson is Ryan playing with all the frets modified for intonation like that??? Have never seen anything like it yet!
I’m not sure of the actual guitar, but the frets being that way is called true temperament frets. It helps notes to be in tune with each other in a better way than standard straight frets which have equal temperament.

Nickelback aren't really a metal band entirely. They're actually a rock band. They just do heavier songs now and then.

People rip on them. I sure did. But any band that has people going “Oh, this takes me back to XYZ time in my life” cannot be ignored. Seems like they’re all doing well, glad to see a band that has survived so long in today’s transient music culture.
