Roberto's banger of a goal set us on our way to our first major trophy in 26 years in 1997 and then he won the club it's first European Cup as manager in 2012. He's an incredibly huge figure in the history of our club and deserves all the love and admiration in the world from Chelsea fans 💙
Before the final, he is the one that got the video recordings from the players family to give them the message. Class act from him to get the players even more motivated with self belief. People who did not watch the Semi Finals & Final live should know that, this Chelsea team finished 6th in the league & by far one of weakest Chelsea team & had no hope against a deadly Barca & Bayern team at the time. Those players defied all odds against them. Also, we sure did have good luck on our side too. God wanted Chelsea to win this.
yeah, it was meant to be, it was their destiny because of their past and painful failures, the moment messi missed a penalty when Barcelona was one up already in camp Nou, was the turning point for Chelsea to perform the impossible 😊,
2012 when impossible is nothing, winning the double while our season was up and down, what a good old times man. Eden Hazard signing after the double was cherry on the top 💙
As a Chelsea supporter with the current state of the club I appreciate these memories so much. and the fact that it meant so much to to those 2012 players/manager is also special. One of a kind team and season.
I absolutely love this Podcast! I became a Chelsea fan during the period Di Matteo, Gianfranco and the late great Vialli played for Chelsea. It's great to see that Roberto still has affinity to our great club! #UTC
That win against Barcelona was truly insane. It was an aging Chelsea squad against prime Barcelona where Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets were all in their prime. It was the greatest UCL campaign in terms of adversity faced imo. And not to mention I remembered back then Torres was talked as the most expensive flop in history, yet he was the one who dealt the knockout blow against one of the best, if not the best team in history. 😂
This is the kind of manager Chelsea needs at the moment. He is very tactical and astute. He beat Barcelona and Bayern Munich when these teams were almost unplayable
Yes, we were but if Barca scored a goal then we would have been out. Having been in a similar scenario with them and given our experience with referees in the past, that goal sealed the ticket and took the wind out of Barca's sails. @@mrredlapel
I cannot agree more, drawing that game with Torres scoring was a morale booster especially being a man down and with that pressure off a semi final against probably the best football team I have seen
@@mrredlapeland you forget that team Barcelona team was inching closer and closer to scoring another goal so we needed Torres’s goal to secure a win. Hoping to win on aggregate isn’t even the Chelsea way.
Di Matteo an absolute legend as player and manager albeit a short time as manager. Thanks to all 3 of u for this brilliant podcast all nice down to earth guys!
Thank you Mr Mikel you were one of my favourite players , you controlled the game insanely. The tempo depended on you and you were always on flik ... Thanx for your podcast ... Please bring on Gallas on the cast ( even though he gave us Cole )
That final was the only time as a chelsea fan I was conformable with Mikel having the ball. I was literally screaming to every Chelsea player to pass the ball to him. He oozed class that day
Nice piece. I would actually suggest we bring back clips of these memories while guests are talking about them e.g. the Ramirez goal, the JT red card etc
As barcelona fan, this was the coach i feared the most. And was so happy when he left.Chelsea didnt know what they lost in this man.I feel this is the man that really understood how to harness the power of chelsea apart from mounrigho
Best Chelsea Podcast. Obi Mikel laugh is infectious! Roberto Chelsea Legend! Love reliving Chelsea run to Champions League title in 2012. 💙💙💙 Please get Eden Hazard on in 2024
It's nice to see Roberto again.,. What a lovely man he was. I don't know your relationship with Eva caniero but it won't be bad if she's on your podcast. Thanks mentor for making me go through this learning process. I actually learning on every of your podcast
Greetings our dear Mikel, pls create an avenue during your podcast program to analyze people's comments allowing contributive knowledge to achieve a wholistic approach in each broadcast. Welcoming video or audio conversations from your audience, will equally introduce some sense of belonging with your subscribers during an ongoing session. Thanks
The host needs to ask Mikel what he said to Robben before he went to kick his in-game penalty. He was repeatedly muttering to Robben whilst he stood to take the pen.
I Just appreciate these guys, the thought behind bringing on Di Matteo is great...more like the reality behind the scene insight to things usually left for our imagination.
The DM position was underrated say almost a decade ago....now it is the most important position, that is why u see Players costing over 50m to over 100m..
Bobby is one of founders into the fabric modern era of Chelsea and who can he forget his wonder goal in the FA Cup, rubbing shoulders in dressing room with Vialli, Gullit, Zola, Poyet, Wise and Desailly to name but a few, Bobby and other Chelsea Legends must be very concerned just how bad the current team is playing with no discipline or real love for the club.
Okay in the last podcast w Flo I said it HAD to be in the studio, but this was a special episode, maybe that special season under Roberto made it for me. As you are based in an area where most other footballers (especially ex CFC) aren't based, so more pods will have to be over webcam, may I make one suggestion. Getting the webcammer to record their audio and send it over will potentially make their audio so much easier to listen to, but I understand that may add a great deal of extra work! Most of all Thanks Jon, thanks Robby and thanks to all that squad from the 2012 season for creating my and many others greatest footballing memory, being underdogs and fighting like your lives dependent on it is more inspiring than I think most of you will ever know
Di Matteo was the best motivator coach in the world, shame he didn't go into international management because that would suit his style perfectly. Still time
Eden would be a good next guest. Emenalo too could give insights about how these transfers went down, like plucking Willian out from under Tottenham's nose.
Hmmm I must respect Mike's character as a player. It seems the coaches grow a liking for him. It is simply his character. Mikel has a unique character. And now he's a football historian
As an Fc Porto supporter i was heartbroken that team was broken up and we changed is name to Andre Libras (Pounds) Boas That team had Falção, James R, Hulk, Guarin , Christian Rodriguez. Won the league by about 20 points i think and the (lower) treble. I think we could have a good shot next year in the UC exactly like Mourinho.
Nobody has revealed what exactly happened with AVB. Honestly believe the players looking back will be ashamed of their actions and how they got AVB sacked.
Mikel calling Di Matteo boss every other minute is so wholesome. You can sense the special relationship they had.
he calls everyone boss though
@@nnaath He had many bosses though.
It's African nature. We hardly call our seniors or Elders with their names. It's respect!
Invite Hazard 😂😂😂 That podcast will definitely break the viewership record
😂😂
He’ll be too busy eating cheeseburgers 😂😂😂😂
Most definitely he will someday invite him. For now Obi needs to finish with the old Gs before turning to New School.
Drogba
Na invite the special one mourinho

Di Matteo, what a man! Thank you for the great memories Rob, and Obi and Scott for bringing him on.
I have 3 Sons with middle names Franko, Luca & Roberto speaks for itself. He is a CHELSEA Legend as a player & manager.

Champions League 2012, my most cherished Chelsea moment, as a fan. Thanks for the memory, Didier, Chech and Obi. Great job Roberto
The fact that he still lives in Cobham. Legend.
We have a special relationship with Italian coaches. They have always delivered for Chelsea. Maresca will do the same

That goal Torres scored against Barcelona was worth £50million

Nice idea but there'd probably be couple of copyright issues to deal with I guess
Bro should be able to get footage from Chelsea to use for free
