What are your favourite wild camping locations? Where are you hoping to visit first when we are allowed back out into the world? Let us know in the comments below!
As we are relatively new to the area and as wild camping and camping are new to me, glad I've found your down to earth and interesting videos covering Dartmoor. Just got to learn and then be brave enough to take the plunge. Thank you
Fantastic vlog Trev, not been wild camping yet but watched lots of your videos and hoping to visit some of the places you been eventually but will combine it with cycling (bike packing). Thanks so much for keeping us educated and entertained 👍🙂
Absolutely love the channel especially the solo videos, would like to see a video on the specific parts of dartmoor your actually allowed to camp. Unless you've done this already keep up the amazing work
Awesome! Thanks very much! There is a camping map to refer to before camping on the moor, but and whilst I havent done a specific video about it, I do mention it in this video - th-cam.com/video/7F1CWjpKKy4/w-d-xo.html. Cheers for watching!
Enjoyed watching your top 10. I'd actually watched near enough all of these but it was good to hear your comments on your experiences. I'm looking forward to all this being over so we can go camping again!
Good video Trev, one of my best camps was in the beer garden of the pub at Morchard Bishop while doing the 2moors way, just a tad to many beers . Best recent was Fur Tor no one else there piecfull. Wild camping LEJOG next April can't wait.
Bet you slept well then lol Wow! Thats quite a walk - good luck with that! Make sure you get to Lands End early enough to sneak a selfy at the sign post - its a rip off otherwise!
Without doubt Trevor for me it has to be the 'Dartmoor Wet and Windy Winter Wild Camping - New Year 2017'. You and Nath camping on a 'postage stamp' size piece of relatively flat ground up at Bleak House in appalling weather with about 14 hours of darkness. The icing on the cake was Nath in his DD Tarp setup. Crazy! I was so intrigued I even went up there myself in January this year with my good friend Yarg Strebor to check it out! ATVB Graham
I know, Graham, you may have seen my recent ten tors in ten miles vid, I visit Bleak House and on examining the location, I cannot for the life of me see where found the room to camp haha. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. All the best, cheers!
Great to see these clips from your wild camping Trev. Reminds me of the lovely British countryside 💕 We are pretty much in lockdown in Norway too. I haven't been to the office for many weeks but work from home. I also go for some walks in the nearby areas. Stay safe. Torunn 😊
Thats lucky that you can walk from your home, Torunn! It has been pretty much all that I can do to look back at old videos, whilst looking forward to whatever to do next. Thanks for watching, and take care!
@@SummitOrNothing I live in the city center, so there are often some pretty boring kilometres on tarmac/cobblestones in the beginning and at the end of a walk if I want to be a bit in nature-like areas. And sometimes it is on tarmac only. But I get to walk and move my legs in the outdoors, keeping responsible social distance 😃
Hey trev, went to Foggintor Quarry last year. Great to wake up to a misty view across the water and well protected from any weather too. Only problem is it gets busy in the morning with day trippers going for a dip! 👍
Great video Trev.... made me smile the whole way through as I remember sharing all those camps with you and your hiking companions.... I do hope you can have another camp with Nath one of these days.... perhaps you could loan him your Cloudup … he always persevered with those darn tarps and he never ever had a good nights sleep and that just makes it miserable, but I miss his dry sense of humor.... looking forward to you taking out that VIK1 on a wild camp.... been doing some research on those and they look awesome... I'm almost tempted to add one to the tent collection :D … I'm itching to get out camping... hope they loosen the restrictions sooner rather than later.... hope you and the family are well ATB Dave Mc
Thanks for watching, Dave. It would be good to see Nath out for a camp again, and you're right, he always opted for less weight over comfort.. which is surprising because of the size of him, a few grams here and there shouldn't have made much difference, but there you go. Thanks for watching. Hope we all manage to get out soon. Cheers!!
That was great Trev! I’m hoping to do my first wild camp on the moors this year .. eventually. However, it’s knowing where the best pitches are?!? Your wild camp videos have helped a great deal but have you ever thought about putting a book together with pitch quality such as being level and tent peg penetration ?? It would be a great aid to us novices who have only camped on camp sites before.
Thats not a bad idea. I do like writing. I am putting a vid together about best place for beginners to camp on Dartmoor actually, so watch this space! Thanks for watching!
Quick question, how old is your boy and what back pack is he using in your vid? My sons 6 and I'm struggling to find him one that's not baby like or too big 🙄
Hi Michael - the pack was my Trespass 30ltr pack - it looked huge on him, and wasn't ideal in all honesty - but he joined me in teh spur of the moment - we managed to get him some boots in the morning but couldn't really find a suitable pack.
@@grumpy-dad3701 yea, I know what you mean. Hopefully you will find a discreet spot, as long as you keep low profile chances are that no-one will know you're there. Good luck!
Trev, apart from the usual....The lake district, peak district, Snowdonia, Moors and Glencoe etc The Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire is a good place for a walk about/ wild camp along the river Wye in summer. There are suspension bridges, caves, carved forest furniture, Scots pine trees(I think) ,wild boar, deer, kayaks and the odd inbred local bobbing about.
Hi, Ronin - thanks for the recommendation - there are so many places that I have yet to see, so I appreciate the feedback - I was going to do so much this year :-( . The Forest of Dean does sound an epic place to visit so I will make sure that I get around to visiting that once our curfew has been lifted! Thanks for watching!
@@SummitOrNothing Yeah this Coronavirus has scuppered a lot of peoples plans mate, so I wouldn't worry. Hopefully it will not last too long and we can all get back outdoors soon. In the meantime though at least we have a bit of time to check out new camping gear and get a few odd jobs done. Cheers
h BTW.... Favorite Hiking (albeit not totally wild ) was on the Manistee River Loop Trail last year ...24 miles / 3 days backpacking w fishing and just awesome views :D … if you get bored check it out on my site part 2 is the best views.... used my Naturehike Spire... the juries still out on that tent :D ….
