I have this lens. It is not always easy to get a sharp image when wide open, but when you do, the results are beautiful. I am getting better at it. The boke is buttery smooth. Better than any of my Fuji native lenses.
Have you tried to configure your camera so that you compose and just turn the focus ring to go into punching? Also to you shoot 4-5 shots moving slightly the focus ring, or just take your time to adjust the focus peaking? Thanks for this video... Oh, and you went to the 100S rather that 50S ii?
Hey, thanks for watching my video. yes that's feature is also an option, but it won't work for a completely manual focus lens and the camera has no way of knowing which lens is attached. You can only do that for a lens with electrical contact points. I'll keep it in mind for my other lenses though:) yes the 100MPX had me drooling.
Really nice shots! That lens is such a bargain if you like the 50mm equivalent focal length! The only suggestion I have is for focusing; I think turning off the focus peaking and only using the zoom function to get focus is better. The focus peaking feels like it’s in the way to me. I can’t really see if I’m perfectly in focus with it on, even when I zoom in. It all looks so much clearer without it. (Also ofc you can turn the back wheel/command dial(?) to choose different levels of zoom.) All that said, focus peaking is still good for subjects that move imo.
Hey, thanks for your suggestion, once you do it a few times, you tend to just look for the red on the screen and it's easy to ignore al the other colours. If you are trying to focus at f1.4, it's quite tricky to nail focus without the peaking feature on :)
All in all very good and informative video ! Two little things to consider : first of all -- perhaps , at least for me, this music is not fitting at all. Then : why do you always shoot wide open ? It is for sure an artistic tool to be used, but when done all the time it becomes obsolete and boring quite quickly i think . This lens will produce wonderful photos when using it with a much deeper field of view on the Fuji system as well.
Hey! I'm glad you found the video informative, yes I think the music probably could have been better, I will do some research next time as to what kind of music is best for motor vehicle photography. I shot everything at f1.4 as I was interested to see the medium format look. I have shot some landscape images recently and they were all at f5.6 and above. Thanks for your comments, and suggestions.
You're doing great on mf, exposure, editing and all that but you need to work on composition, I think you can deliver stunning work if you improve on that, thanks for the content!
@@sethiphotography some things are subjective but there are some basic rules like cropping distracting elements near the edges that create tension and distract from you subject that are really not subjective. Sure you may find some examples where photos benefit from that but that doesn't happen often at all.
Amazing results! This lens seems perfect for classic car photography.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! I suppose composition is subjective but we can all definitely improve. Thanks for watching.
