And also (spoiler alert) shi mei was in love with chu wanning on the book. I think making shi mei a girl enable the plot to still flow through despite taking out the homosexual scenes in the book
I understand your doubt and anxiety towards hyx but I think it’s too early for us to judge it. Many had doubts with The Untamed too but it turned out really well considering the censorship. When it comes to Shi Mei being a woman in the live adapt, hyx had really no choice but to hetero wash her for the sake of censorship but lets hope this show will give justice to ranwan
Same. But adapting 2ha must have been harder than mdzs. Ranwan's love is the main theme. Without that love, the plot and the story wouldn't be the same meanwhile Wangxian were a plus, something that was happening besides the plot. But ranwan are the heart of 2ha quite literally. They are what they are for their love (their character development comes from their relationship). 2ha is such a good story. It's a shame its visual adaptations won't have that romantic aspect, but I believe it's possible to create the pain and heartache with the subtle indications that they are mean to be no matter what. We must wait and see.
