I haven't watched this channel is ages, so nice of the algo to remind me of it. This was a great breakdown of easily the most fun to watch competitor in CJI
Really feel he would’ve broke through Levi’s guard much quicker than Tye, he and his brother pass to a more compact North South that makes it much harder to reguard.
The second pass looks exactly similar like the one they use in 10th planet know as Dreidel. I used to use it a lot but the seating variation did had some major drawbacks so stopped using it but this seems like an enhancement of the original dreidel, can't wait to try the standing variation. Thanks for the breakdown coach :)
The first pass that he does against Flanagan, is that more of a neck/lat grip on the opposite side of the head? Is it more advantageous that having a crossface grip for the same seated pass? as I noticed you mentioned a few times that he progresses from the crossface to the other side of the head
Correct, the crossface grip leaves an opening on the side where the opponent wants to move, which is away from the passer. In contrast, the overhead grip blocks the opponent with the whole hand and forearm.
"for old fart who can't stand up from the cart without pulling hamstring" - 😅 Thank you for feeling I'm not alone so injury prone. I like your channel more ❤
not sure about this one. Levi had a tough time entangling Kade towards the end and Kade plays his passing inside of the guard which inherently exposes the legs. Andrew’s passing style is leading with the upper body and keeping the legs far away
flograppling recently posted a video of a Rafa Mendes seminar at jiu jitsu con about a version of this guard exhibited @ 8:08. Nice breakdown. Thank you.
King of cardio 😂
Gustavo! I'm soo happy that you note his "athleticism" for us older guys *)
Absolutely! I can't do half of what he did :)
Same, but I'll try it all@MMALeech
Tackett's chaining of high precision positional passing at speed amazing. I'm turtling straight away.
Have you ever seen anyone smash into north-south with such dominant control??!! AJ is the future of grappling
Bright future ahead indeed!
Great breakdown of great technique! I would have loved to have seen Andrew v Levi. That would have been epic.
Agree 100%
Always enjoy your study’s I hope to see some more of your insights on the CJI
Thank you Grant!

Glad you are back!

I think Andrew limbs aren’t as long as the Kade and Ty allowing for a bit tighter passing
I would love to see that match!
I too think Tacked has better prospects at passing Levi’s guards. Having said that is not guaranteed. Levi has the guard of all guards 💂♂️
0:56 Hip and Knee Post Toreando
4:18 Same Side Shin Post and Collar Tie to North South
7:52 Combining Both Passes
That was so clear. I understand now! Thank you Professor!
Excellent!
The ankle control pass reminds me of Longstep passing in the Gi.
Absolutely amazing analytics.
Excellent breakdown 👏🏻
Thank you!

Glad you liked it!
Great breakdown man, thank you!
Thanks Owen!
Would love a breakdown of Levi’s guard work from CJI 🙏🏻
Would really like to see Andrew vs Levi
Checkmat passing. Looking like Leo Vieira back in 2003.
Epic reference. So true too.
This guy sounds like Renato Laranga with a cold
Thanks for recognizing the accent :)
Tacketts jiu-jitsu was extremely impressive 👏
It was!
“Eugene” Eoghan O Flanagan 😂
We got robbed of seeing Tackett Vs Levi Jones Leary, great passer against great guard, would of been fun to see
agree 100%
Great video
Thank you!
0:31 😂lol

I'm old and broken will probably never be able to roll again, but this was pretty cool!
Hope you can be back at some point!
Olivarez vs Ibragimov at adcc was way better than anything at cji.
It was a great match indeed
His passing is so basic …. It’s his athleticism that makes the difference
athleticism, timing, relentless pace
White Donna Rodriguez Anthony White Carol
Police brutality lmao
Tackett is a machine! And he beat Kade, as far as I'm concerned.
He's def a machine!
Same
Say! It! Again! He was robbed.
Thomas Barbara Harris Anthony Jackson Jennifer
Levi would have entengled his legs a thousand time imo, but for sure one of the best passing performance in a while.
