Lol I just noticed that Duke’s backstory started to sound a little like Joseph’s from the Bible For context: Joseph was a slave being used in the house of Egyptian nobility who had a noble’s wife come on to him in a non-consensual way. When he rejected her advances, she told her husband and other Egyptian nobility that Joseph had forced himself on her thus getting him thrown into jail and abused there.
Man, Duke's backstory is so sad. It's more out of a horror story then a fairytale. I want to give him the biggest hug I can give. But I love the lore behind the character. Thank you for making so many interesting characters, Duke being one of them.

Bonita ate the freshly baked pie that she and Duke had just made. Duke ate as well but he was more focused at his lovely partner in front of him. How her legs were crossed, one leg bended near her chest and the other laying in the ground, folded inward. How her eyes were naturally siren looking. He thought who she must of gotten her eyes, from her father or mother. That’s what sparked the following question. “What about your life, tell me about your family.” As soon as the words left his mouth, Bonita froze. He saw the smiled she wore falter and her eyes fall to the floor. And just as fast it came her lips were replaced with a sad smile. “They were in love… at one point. I never got to see that point though. All I ever knew growing up was their fighting. I think they tried to hide it the first few years. But eventually the whispering became screaming and the nasty glances became nasty words. And then they cared less if I saw. They pulled me into their fights, and started asking who was right and who was wrong,” she told with a sad smile on her face. “Oh darlin’, I’m sorry to have asked,” Duke apologized, hating how she looked telling him this. “It’s okay. They eventually broke it off when I was 12. And then it was just me and Momma. My dad got remarried and had another family. He tried to be in my life for a few years until he stopped even trying, he had his other family worry about. And then my Momma got married too. To nasty man. I swear that man was Devil. He was angry, all the time. And one night…” her eyes teared up, remembering that night. “He did something to me, something bad, something that i don’t think I’ll be able to forget. He stole a part of me, Duke, something I’ll never be able to get that,” her voice shaked, but not with sadness, but with anger. “But it wasn’t even that that made me hate him. One day I came home early” - she looked up and stared at Duke - “and I saw him. I saw him put his hands on my momma.” Yet as her anger bubbled inside her, so did her hurt and sadness. She looked down, refusing to look at Duke thinking about what she did. Dukes words echoed in her head. *I love you, no matter who are, what you look like or what you’ve done* “That night, I drugged him. He was a nasty drinker, couldn’t taste the difference between rat poison and beer. Not enough to kill, no I wanted to do that myself. To make him pay, to make him bleed. I wanted to hurt him. Duke I….” She looked at him and Duke was able to see her tears of hatred. Not for him, but for herself. “I killed him. I killed him, Duke. Behind my house, with my bat and my fist. Duke, I killed a man,” she sobbed , falling to her knees. Seeing the state she was in, Duke launched over to her and pulled her into a tight embrace. She sobbed into his chest, her arm lipped on her side. Duke hugged her shoulders and neck, letting her cry into him. “You shouldn’t love me, Duke. I’m a killer. And the thing is, I don’t even regret it. I’m a monster,” she whimpered. “You are not a monster, Darlin’. And you did what you had too. And told, I will always love, regardless of what you have done.”

Anyone else concern about why we made a promise to each other not to change who we are, at the end? Yea it could be that he's worried but what if, for example the girl who owns the arena, uses a spell to make Duke do what ever she says later on? Or something else?
