It should be £2,000 plus 500 hours picking up litter and a driving ban and get the bone idle dolies out of bed and out by 8am picking it up for their benefit money.
I went to UK for visit. Shocking, litter on roads, laybays, parks everywhere, most disgusting in Europe. Never visit again. In Germany if You litteing the fine is €7000 ,not £500 .
@@stephengiles1356it’s only a deterrent if you believe you will get caught, I wouldn’t even want to be fined £500 but I wouldn’t oppose a heavier fine.
It is just frustrating to walk and pick up stuff to try to keep it clean knowing next day it's going to be the same or worst... we need to educate ppl and cut the amount of single use plastic pple use
Some people a fine won’t deter. If local authorities could and did sue the offenders for the costs. And if cost like that can be automatically deducted from benifits too.
Majority of litter is thrown down by the dustbin men doing shoddy work. You know if I throw some litter down, I would expect to get a fine, but when the dustbin man throws the litter down, he gets paid for doing it.
It’ll be interesting to see how effective it actually is. Seeing people fined is one þing but do we actually see less litter? Have we measured ðeir effectiveness?
@@markreilly2660 Free money for Labour councillors as they increase Council Tax for less public services whilst embezzling money - causing bankrupt councils.
@@desbest4 How you relate littering to Council Tax embezzlement is interesting. Sounds like you have a point to make but tenuous links means the point is getting lost. Not sure how this is Free money unless you think it is okay to live in a shithole of our own making? Given littering is an offence it isn't something we should expect Councils to pay for (I think a lot of people believe their 'taxes' mean they are entitled to drop litter at their backside and we can employ the needed thousands of people to wipe their arses - simple maths will tell you that isn't possible).
I don't understand littering...especially tossing your trash out of your car on to the side of the road?! There are trash cans everywhere. And cigarette butts? I'm a smoker and not once have I thrown a butt on the ground. IT"S NOT HARD NOT TO LITTER. JUST LAZY!
Finally!
Makes me sick when people litter and have no respect for their environment

put a deposit on cans and bottles, South Australia doe this and there is much less litter.
We used to do that in the 70s, us kids used to take them all back to the shop for recycling and get 10p per bottle, spending money sorted.😊
It would make more sense and would be cheaper then installing cameras everywhere.
Same as in Germany,Austria.
Deposit on cans,bottles.
It’s not just roads but have you seen the state of the railway tracks.

Tosh. 95% of the litter I retrieve as a volunteer has been thrown out of car windows.
