I’m sorry, this was insanely inappropriate. Y’all brought a pastor out to talk about sex jars and having freaky sex?? Without his wife present? Sure, sex is a natural normal part of marriage but this is not a conversation for women to have with men on a platform like this. I can feel how uncomfortable Pastor Mitchell became. This man just told you his story about being delivered from sexual immorality and you believe this is the conversation to have about going to the sex shop? Absolutely not, throw the whole episode away. I respect and admire Pastor Mitchell.

I agree. The Bible says to abstain from things that SEEM like evil/sin/darkness. Even if Pastor Phillip conducted himself well, which he did, this conversation should have had his wife present. This is no different than a male pastor counseling a female church member with his wife present & vice versa, with the reason being, you don’t want the “church” to even REMOTELY think that something’s going on, or that you’re even leaving the door/space open for something to occur. She definitely should have been there. Had he known this conversation was gonna go in such sexual detail, I just KNOW he would’ve brought his wife. Also, if you’re bringing a pastor onto the show, why lead with a video of someone cursing (whether the words are bleeped out or not) they could have simply reiterated what was said in the video. But, I digress.

As others have expressed...I was surprised to see Pastor Phillip in this interview... This is FAR REMOVED from "They Perry's" and "In Totality w/Megan. Those are two podcasts featuring two highly respected WOG known for their biblical knowledge. Not to shade these two image-bearers, this is a stark difference in content and context. I think what makes it surprising is that most of us have never seen him in this setting (or any setting outside of 2819). However, I'm not not surprised that he was capable of answering the raw and uncut uncut questions with raw and uncut responses...it was just a little (well a lot) unexpected for him. Not suggesting it was wrong or sinful...just surprising "for what we have seen" of him.
2819 is growing...spiritually and numerically. He will have more requests for speaking engagements and interviews than ever before. Some because they genuinely want to hear from this MOG and others attempting to capitalize off of the new attention 2819 has garnered. I can only pray that the Lord will give him wisdom in which ones to accept and that in doing so - the content of these interviews does not have a negative impact on what God is doing. I'm sincerely praying for him and the digital disciples of 2819.

I will say I’m not familiar with this podcast but I saw pastor Philip and clicked…
Overall, I think this was a bad judgement call on Pastor Philips end as the MOG he is. The podcast appeared to be very secular and within the first 5 minutes the young lady stated she doesn’t know scripture but has a relationship with God. I think what these ladies needed more in this conversation was maybe first, Lena to be present. There were points in this conversation I wouldn’t want my own husband to have sat through, like the whole descriptive sex store scene. I think it was inappropriate and speaks much to the culture in the city of Atlanta. I can’t hold certain expectations to non-believers but Pastor Philip, I know is a true man after Gods own heart, therefore is held to a higher standard. I’m sure he has regrets about this conversation in hindsight and has been convicted because he gets in Gods face and isn’t ashamed to admit his faults. So I’m praying for Pastor Philip because I know the folks have been waiting to capture fault in his witness.
We don’t need a part 2 of this conversation….We need to focus more on becoming Godly wives and getting to know the God of the Bible more than giving any advice on Godly men. That’s my prayer for the ladies of this podcast. May you get wise counsel and grow in your faith 💙

To everyone making comments saying “don’t read the comments first before watching”, I think it’s being misinterpreted as what is actually being deemed “inappropriate”. I don’t think it was so much Pastor Philip, because I feel he was professional and drew all responses back to scripture. I think what was more jarring for lack of better word was the hostesses. One stated at the beginning she didn’t know scripture, wasn’t a church girl etc. The other host’s dialogue was simply a bit extra and could be deemed inappropriate to be having with a pastor, let alone a man. I think it was simply just a bit surprising for people who follow Pastor Philip. I am one of those people. We are human. I understand that he is a man first. I also understand he’s a very urban man as stated in his history which I know of from the pulpit. I think it is just important to have a bit of tact talking to a pastor just simply out of respect. And I would say this whether it was Pastor Philip or Pastor Tony Evans. Out of respect, certain things I’m just not saying to a pastor. I think he did the best he could to answer genuinely, with respect. Even though in my opinion he seemed uncomfortable at various parts of the interview. But I’m a person that pays attention to body language. Maybe I’m crazy but either way, I’m praying for my pastor, his discernment, his marriage and all the things.

Pastor Philip talked to these ladies off camera before hand. It’s alluded to at the beginning in the podcast. So, most likely he knew where they stood in their faith. However he came to accept their invitation, I’m pretty sure he knew what kind of podcast he would be sitting for. I don’t think it was an impulsive decision on his part. 2819’s slogan is: Until All Have Heard.
For this, I can surmise why he may have accepted the invitation to be on this podcast. It’s just sad that these ladies are SO comfortable with their content that there were no modifications to have a healthy conversation about marriage without it being soooooo ”spicy”. Idk how he felt sitting there, but I felt total cringe. They could miss me with that whole segment.

This is a message leading with love. Hope it reaches you well. The opening statement about loving God but not knowing any scripture is Paradoxical. When you read it, you’ll see that God said, “if you love Me, follow My commandments”. His commandments aren’t limited to the 10 that were written on the tablets, but is listed throughout scripture, as it relates to how we should conduct ourselves as Christ did. When you love something/someone, you love all the things they come with. God came with His word. He IS His word. It’s a package. Don’t only love Him… instead, love the package. Be blessed ❤️

I’ll also say that while I don’t think the conversation was sinful at all - I do think it may have been better suited to have with another woman! Two attractive women sitting with a man and talking about sex positions, swallowing, smacking and sobbing could definitely lead to lustful thoughts being developed and temptation. This is NOT to say anyone would act on it, but I just think having his wife present or something else may have been a better look.
But hey for all I know she could’ve been right behind the camera and they all do seem to know each other and each other’s spouses. I trust Pastor’s judgment…prayers offered. I hope it helped some people.

Pastor Phillips, heart posture for this interview is to teach others. It’s not that difficult to know if you listen to his sermons and see his character. As believers we need to be aware that light needs to shine in dark places. These conversations need to happen more often. The lessons are here if they are for you just like the word.

I am reading so many comments from people saying that this conversation is inappropriate for a pastor. This conversation is for marriages. Marriages need a healthy sexual relationship. Why is it so bad that a Pastor agreed to go on this interview? Jesus went out into the world and didn't just stay holed up in a church preaching. SEX exists and Christians should talk about it and stop ignoring it and acting like it doesn't exist. We need to face head on corn, sexual desires we have and confront that. I fully agree with this interview. There was no disrespect. Great interview because he brought all questions back to the scriptures for answers.

I think pastor was intentional when going on this pod cause either way he answered questions in a biblical way & debunked some mindsets some people may have. He still planted seeds. That’s what we’re supposed to do as believers. In order to go out & save souls we’re not always going to be in a church or in spaces with only believers… that defeats the purpose. Also we can’t put expectations on people who are not fully submitted to Christ period. We are used to seeing him in one setting, but I’m sure God allowed this for a reason.

I can appreciate the energy around making intimacy fun and exciting within marriage, especially in a godly context. But I want to offer a different take as someone who came from the same cultural background/ “unsanctified sex life” and has seen the powerful transformation of intimacy when Christ is invited into the conversation regarding sex within marriage.
When we look to God as the creator of intimacy, the excitement and fulfillment in marriage aren’t about ‘spicing things up’ the way culture often suggests, with labels like ‘freaky’ or ‘wild’ ‘nasty’ or by adding things that don’t align with biblical intimacy. Instead, it’s about finding a deeper, lasting connection that doesn’t need extras to feel exciting. In my experience, that kind of intimacy is raw, freeing, and deeply personal-and it brings a closeness that goes way beyond surface-level thrill.
For anyone exploring what a godly, vibrant marriage can look like, know that God’s design for intimacy isn’t lacking in excitement. It’s just different from the world’s idea of ‘spicy,’ offering something richer and more satisfying than any other experience you have known. In my humble opinion.

Jackie Hill Perry & Megan Ashley were on the Hardly Initiated podcast and that entire podcast is about relationships. I’ve watch a number of sermons by Pastor Phillip and this is not outside of the realm of how he speaks. He has literally said he enjoys being home and being intimate with his wife of 20+ years. He backed up his answers to the questions with scripture and Bible stories. He also said God “allowed” for a season of multiple wives etc. Jesus is on His way back. I had no problem with anything he said. I had no problem with the ladies attire or questions. As a big sister, my only suggestion would be is, when a married man is a guest and his wife is not with him, “hold space for the wife.” The last 5 minutes could have been taped after he stepped out. My parents have been married for 53 years, and there are some conversations that my mom will not have with women in my dad’s presence. Why? she covers him. She knows his triggers and even areas of his flesh that he battles with. My mother will steer the conversation or give my dad, “the look.” His response is usually, “let me let you ladies talk.” Which is a perfect example of “submitting to each other.”

You can do ALL the "right" things. You can know the person for years, you can have bible study, go to church with them as youth, both be in Christ, and pray before marriage, wait to have sex before marriage, and no children before marriage, you can be in a godly marriage and STILL this wicked, sinful, fallen world can result in lust, adultery, and more so its not all about choosing the wrong man! Is he supposed to separate his identity as a pastor at certain times Or in every circumstance he has to wear the pastor hat? How does he do podcasts or conversations without making it a sermon? How casual does he feel like he can allow himself to be? Can he be around/ a part of certain conversations? He did reference the Bible a lot so maybe it was a good episode and Its just because I’m not used to seeing him not on a pulpit? Real questions!

@@edwindadon great questions. This is the very reason why if God calls me to ministry on a big platform I will never submit to a title. I don’t view many people as pastor, preacher, prophet etc because it takes the humanness away from them. If you hear his testimony that he shares often he is definitely a man before he is a pastor. Put titles on people removes them from being able to do or say certain things. Ain’t nothing wrong with talking about sex in a martial context. (All the people on the podcast are married) although it was made very clear that the women aren’t mature in Christ yet. Doesn’t mean they can’t get there but with me knowing that grace was given to them because they admitted they are just now beginning a relationship with God and they have a long road ahead of them. When you think about the disciples that Jesus chose none of them were teachers or preachers they were some rough dudes. This is just different from what the public sees for Phil. I thought it was quite refreshing honestly. This doesn’t take away from all the sermons and teachings he has done in the past. He is still the same man he just had a conversation that was different from what we are used to hearing. God created sex. And it isn’t bad, Satan made sex bad for society. I didn’t really agree with the sex store/ sex toy comment but that’s between you God and your partner honestly.

I feel like most Christians may have a problem with this interview because they aren’t used to taboo topics but sex is apart of marriage and everyone on this podcast is married from my understanding and people have questions. It’s best to get that advice from a pastor who knows his word. People should learn from biblical truth.

Y’all I watched til the end 😅I ………I couldn’t talk that explicitly that in front of another man let alone a pastor.

The Bible says to not let unwholesome talk come from your mouth. Sex toys? Sloppy top? Sex cards? Sex stores? Wild.

Turned it off when she said “ladies go to the sex store…” she probably meant wives…she always sounds very carnal. However these conversations are very important to have. I LOWKEY wish there was more dialogue on godly character and ways to love like Christ and submit like the church

I would never want any piece of marriage advice nor counseling from either of you. It’s truly shameful how anyone is given the mic to have a podcast. Shameful

The conversation was about husband and wives the ones who are/were offended probably aren't or dint have happy ones. The spiicy part was only suggestions. Pastor was not even apart of that. Yall needed this calm down. Sex is supposed to be good its supposed feel good its a goid thing especially between marriage people people. I could add a scripture but I dont debate it. All the word is true not just the peices we pull and pick.

So inappropriate... This conversation should be all mem or either all women. The free talk about sex causes imaginations to come alive, which can lead to a fall. I also feel, the attire was well thought out. I'm a married woman & I know men are visual creatures so would be very mindful of what I wore conducting an interview with a Pastor. It's all about respect! No, you don't need an ankle length skirt but c'mon...us women know the attention we'll get wearing thigh high boots with shorts! And what kind of respect are you showing your own marriage dressed & talking like this???

Listen, I believe these conversations need to be had but the language was very inappropriate. And when I seen those thigh high boots and leather pants I thought how disrespectful. You knew a MARRIED man was coming on, dress down!! Cover yourselves correctly.
