  • Here here's a clip of our Cattle barn that we use for our Black Angus. This was designed by the farmer for easy access of feeding and moving cattle. Check out the frost free waterers and the high roofs. When building it we took into consideration the weather patterns around the farm, so that we could adequately keep our herd out of the weather when needed. Check out these other videos on different parts of the barn.

    Flyingkranch
    Just built two new cattle barns in northwest Ohio
    60x184 and 66x184
    Used for cow calf and feeding out cattle with dry manure facility in the middle which is 66x60.
    Raise all black angus cattle. We have it in our blood. Best wishes

    Hey....no I'm not looking in to steers..perhaps a few here and there as I'm currently doing...I keep my bulls about 1.5 miles away from the rest of my heard...I'm looking at a Barne / feed lot like this to house about 250 head...a mixture of of heifers, calves and some steers all separate ofcaurse...Farming comes a long way in the family therefore I'm saing this is really very well designed....

      We started out as a feed lot operation, but the price of beef went down so we switched to cow and calf. Check out our other videos on the pasture

    • @TheFarmingLife

      +Michael Archie we designed it and did much of the work ourselves. My guess is to build something like this it would probably cost around 150 thousand.

      Farmer Tater If they have crops they spread it over the crops, also it keeps the pens clean and less likely do have diseases spread.

      Is it just for finishing? At some point I thought there were brood cows in there.

    • @TheFarmingLife
      @TheFarmingLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We could fit 250 head in it, we use it for a cow and calf operation right now. Depending on the markets we could swith if we wanted. We do feed some out on occasion.

    • @elmcustomharvesting1072
      @elmcustomharvesting1072 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The steer Barn is 130 ft long 75 ft wide and it can hold up to 200 head it depends on size and how we are using it at the moment with a cow-calf operation

  • @Cumaish1

    Hello, why 3 paddocks? do you have 3 paddocks with 3 different angus grups? or you mix your angus from one paddock to another? do your angus bully each other? How they treat to small ones? how will they treat newcomers cows/calfs in same paddock?

    • @PennsylvaniaFarming
      @PennsylvaniaFarming 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my Angus dont bully each other but separating age groups might beneficial bc smaller younger animals can get pushed away from the feed area.

    Do the cattle sit down lower to eat than the drive through?

    • @TheFarmingLife
      @TheFarmingLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tate Bardall yes they are down lower, it allows us to be able to scrape the manure down without getting it on the feed lot and they don't have to pick their head up to chew

      no I built this Barn 4 steers and if I decide to milk cows I can switch over or raise pigs on pen pack we are a first-generation farm so we have to be open to different ideas. and change with markets to keep ahead

    • @TheFarmingLife
      @TheFarmingLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, this was one of our cost big projects. We are a first generation farming family and the farm we are starting out on was non operational. We had to start with nothing and build from there. Like Elm custom harvesting said we designed the barn so that we could switch operations of needed. Check out this video on our background.:
