I like to relax in the forest. So I decided to build a camping spot, a small shelter called the Fox Hole. Now I have my own forest camp in which I practice my survival skills.

Thought you were doing bushcraft then you pull out the zip- ties and nails lol I think some hard core bushcraft builders would have a problem with that.

Дуже добре зробив 👍

дякую 🤝
Kilka kwestii
thank you :) I used stitches so as not to injure the wood with nails :)
Hello my friend good job 🍀❤️🤝
Thank you
🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍

Thought you were going to make a cot but you didn't slept on logs like everyone else and you didn't use a tarp before you put the hay on, Oh well enjoy !!

Helpful hints from Nana.... This isn't a bash on this guy, I love initiative but, I don't do well on video so what I am posting here is about additional education. I am 62 and before my health failed (damn gene pool), I could survive pretty much anywhere.
Here goes..
When picking trees to build by or on, make sure you check for "widow makers". These are limbs overhead which can kill you if you don't choose the right tree(s). Another thing to consider is the height of the trees you choose. And I quote The Rogersville Review, "Oaks are by far the most likely trees to be hit. Other trees that seem to be common targets include elm, ash, yellow poplar, and pine. Everyone is aware of the safety tip of not standing under a tree during a thunderstorm, based on the likelihood that the tallest objects are most likely to be struck by lightning."
It is best to build a semi permanent shelter in a clearing as a stand alone. Check upwind for taller trees and avoid a clearing that has several unless you intend to cut them to build with.
Another suggestion about building with the local wood is to not worry about cutting away the thinner ends. In other words, take what you can carry or drag in a comfortable and safe length. You will find this handy for the roof especially. This does two things, it affords you the choice of extending the walls and roof with less cutting.
When building a semi permanent shelter, make the roof taller than you are. I learned this after having hand sewn a sail cloth canvas lean-to. The next portable shelter I made was 20' long by 12' wide. I made a traders tent.
So as long as you create your space and your heat source to be compatible, any size works, it is just a matter of how much time you have to make it, and get wood for heating.
One thing I like about underground shelters is the mean temperature is colder that the air above ground. I am curious to see what people have to say about permafrost and also mold in regards to primative living, temporary or not.
So bedding and seating...how to make it uniquely yours.
Measure from the bottom of your heel (with or without footwear, your choice), to the middle of the back of your knee. This is the best height for comfortable legs on a chair or bed. Too low and it strains your back to get up and sit down. Too high and it causes a pressure point on your legs.
When making furniture, try to see the pieces as having several uses. A bed is a bench, low table or storage.
Cooking areas must be kept as clean as possible. Often in history the kitchens were separate buildings in order to keep the space from over heating in the day time and most importantly in areas with apex predators, the scent wouldn't be where you sleep.
Consider an area for cooking being placed as near water as possible. Create a roof under which you can cook, in other words, tall enough to help keep the roof from catching fire. Don't use sod on this roof, use clay to seal it. Don't use heavy with sap trees either, the reason is obvious. Make sure you set up a hand washing station because bacteria is the oldest form of life on this planet and it is literally everywhere. If you watch survival shows, you will see the mistakes made by not keeping your hands and food items clean. These will attract animals of all types so use well established methods for food preservation and storage. Even the most barren camp can be set up do handle these needs. Watch Primal Tendencies to learn more.
This guys set up is good but as a temporary site, it could be taken further in the future too. Thanks for reading this...here are two Nana cookies hon.....
Thank you

Temporary bed for the second shelter? Looked narrow and too short so you had your feet on the ground.
Looks like you have motivation and experience to improve and enjoy your camp for a long time.
Be safe.
Thank you
Man you so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
What kind of food is this? From what country I mean? I've never seen this combination before. Gordon Ramsey would be jealous!

Yikes! Piles and piles of dry straw on top of dry wood near a fire throwing off embers? It's going to make a great bonfire one day. 😬
🤭🤝
I was surprised he didn't secure the insulation with mud.
The seating area with the half A frame on one side, the break wall on the other and the shelter door on the 3rd, appeared to be a great way to keep the heat in the camp and close to the shelter. I saw the flurries, yet you were without a jacket. The setup served it's purpose and kept you warm. Great job! I always worry when I see people cook in the forest. I'm terrified of bears. My husband wants to build a cabin, but I'm afraid of bears, as I said 😯. I'm on his computer and have been saving building ideas for him. I followed you for him, he'd def be interested in bush projects... especially since he wants to bring me to the woods in Maine and build a cabin. Still afraid of the bears. I'm only going if we bring high powered weapons to save ourselves with...😉😉
Thank you :) the bear is a dangerous beast :) be careful
Nice camp set up. Careful-The dry grass roof might catch fire 🔥
hi :) thanks. I'll be careful🤝where are you from?

Last comment, when tearing down a site, please take your zip ties off the trees. Also, try to be nicer to trees, their bark is like your skin and I am sure you wouldn't want anyone beating your skin off!
don’t worry, I specifically use zip ties so as not to damage the trees with nails.
@@botanik6140 use some sort of rope or bank line. There are plenty of knots that you can use to recover your cordage afterward as well. Practicing different types of joinery can also help you learn to build better structures without the need for courage at all. Lastly, keep getting out there, is awesome to see people enjoying nature.

You did not create shelter it was done way before you. Native American tribes in northern california to oregon built those shelters way before you🤣😂🤣😂
