I bought these early last year as my first foray into the TMNT cartoon line, and immediately sold them off after opening them. The biggest problem is the cheap ass plastic NECA uses in combination with how many of their joints are painted rather than cast in the actual color of plastic. On mine, the first time I posed the hands, the paint scratched off the hinge. I was speechless when I realized that Rocksteady's hands were cast in light brown (like Bebop) and painted grey, and Bebop's hands were cast in grey(like Rocksteady) and painted light brown. What total half-assery! Painting joints rather than casting them in the correct color makes no sense whatsoever. Fortunately mine didn't break, but I also did very little with them after seeing the paint issue. NECA has such great sculpting in so many of their lines, but the plastic quality, cheap paint finishes and breakage rate keeps me away from them. Garbage company that won't ever change.
That sucks 😞. Mine in the box legs look straight. This is another reason why I keep mine in box. Another reason is the value. Hopefully the rerelease of Bebop and Rocksteady will be better. I know Rocksteady will have his iconic helmet. Hopefully they'll be more accessories than that.
Could have happened to anybody. Totally Sucks. I wonder if these may have been ancient Neca warehouse stock from their original run. Older Neca items get more fragile over time. I think they know this and that's why they do reissues of product. Hot Water treatment is recommended. Cynically their perfect for MISB collectors. But it raises the questions of what junk your actually holding on to. I still have not opened my playmates two packs. But nice to see the rocksteady and beebop sculpts, I definitely forgot how strange they are.

Wow! The ones I got years ago and at a lower retail price at the time are still intact although those hip joints look like they could snap because they are fairly tight. Even after heating it up those hip still feel tight after cooling down.

There are times that I have the opportunity to buy the NECA Bebop and Rocksteady but I pass it up when I see the broken hip joints on youtube. So far I haven't seen a broken one on the balljoints the newer figs that NECA produces
Holy crap dude I'm so sorry. NECA always scare me because I see videos and pictures of stuff like this. I don't have anything from the TOON line myself but I did recently start collecting the Turtles in Time arcade line and so far they've all articulated very well and haven't had frozen joints. Ugh this is a bummer. I hope NECA will replace it for you.
Thank you, Nicholas. This is my first major issue with a NECA product. I had that claw with slash but this was just a huge bummer. I'm glad your toys are doing well! I really like the TinT line. They're sharp. The initials are actually tit. Lol. Anyway, I plan on reaching out to them but I never get my hopes up on replacement.
@@infinitecollectibles9210 People in The Party Wagon group has had them replace whole figures before but I've seen it said a few times that you have to keep harassing them to make sure they actually do it.
I’ve had the exact same issue with my Bebop AND Rocksteady (broke them both). Even heating in boiled water, the joints are were very hard to move. I could manage to glue the chunk of plastic back, but they can’t move a lot. It’s sad to see this quality problem continues specially with these two.
Thanks for the comment. I hate both broke on you. That totally sucks. I managed to get the chunk glued in and have him standing, for now, on my shelf. The bottom of bebop's foot says 2019 so I think it's from the original run. Better luck to both us!
It's sad as much as we pay for these, they are no better material wise then any other cheap plastic china toy.... Sculpting and paint is on point though for all of them, turtles, allies, enemies. They are all actually kinda stiff and only partially posable.

Smart!! Very smart. I can't pay the aftermarket price on the cartoon NECA stuff, for certain. It's very pretty to look at but thy super 7 Turtles are pretty bad ass. I love my set!
@@infinitecollectibles9210 Yeah, after market buying sucks, but I can usually get them for $15-20 markup, so I just think of it as price of doing business cost to insure I'm not spending days and dollars chasing NECA or S7 for replacements. I've never got one the 3 times I've tried, just no reply (I'm just a guy, no business, so yeah, whispers in the wind... Lol.

Same thing happened to me with Bebop AND Rocksteady! I had only really collected Marvel Legends and wanted to expand into Neca TMNT and horror figures. Neca are beautifully sculpted and painted, but break very easily. The newer releases do seem to be better quality though. No figures have broken, but several accessories have.
I am sorry for your loss. I can't imagine BOTH of them breaking. Everyone is telling me to either hit them with a hair dryer or soak them in hot water before articulating them. Marvel Legends are rad. I only have a few and that is a choice. I fear getting in because there's no way I could get out!

u can see a sheen of glue residue on the leg joint imo like some accidently LOCKTIGHT it at the FACTORY hopefully neca see this vid for ya and will replace it
NECA action figures are amazing especially the TMNT line. The designs, the details, the sculpt, likeness to the animation, etc. I highly recommend NECA however, do not force the figure without heating up right out of the box. Hope NECA sends you a replacement and you give NECA another chance especially with NECA Haul-athon coming up.
It's getting to the point of even MODERN figures break!! even HASBRO, with the Dungeons & Dragons figures all over youtube, NECA is notorious FAMOUS for brittle plastic figures, it's NO surprised that i've seen all kinds of figures from NECA breaking all over the board. even hot water of a hair dryers won't help!! so sorry for your lossage!!
Sorry about your bad luck. I guess I got sort of lucky. Mine weren't perfect either. Rocksteady has one of his eyes painted cockeyed and Bebop had a duplicate hand instead of one of the different hands. Mine have been standing fine on my shelf for months.
Any trick on getting them to stand? I have Rocksteady kind of leaned against a rail. I've had hand issues like that with the bst axn but never one of these high- class figures. That totally sucks. Thanks for commenting!

@@infinitecollectibles9210 I've heard more about Neca problems than I've actually had them. Had to heat a joint on Demona and had to work on the wings for a while. Honestly, I've had to unfreeze more stuck joints Marvel Legends than Neca. My first Pyro figure broke in the same way as your Bebop. I tried to spread the legs with surprisingly little pressure and the right one snapped off. Fortunately, that was one set I opened soon after getting it and I was able to get a free replacement.
@@infinitecollectibles9210 Just be gentle and you will start to get a feel for which figs need heat (I use hot water but some people use hairdryers or heatguns) and which joints can be unstuck with a little wiggling. Lean more toward heat before you get the hang of it, or just heat every tight joint and you will have few broken figures.
I heated my Bebop and the leg still snapped off. Send Neca an email they refunded me, I was so pissed I'm very experienced with Neca TMNT but these are old and brittle. The new figures are much better.

I hate how ppl blame you for not heating it up, it shouldn't happen just moving the leg slightly, I got the same comments on my video and I did heat up mine and it still broke. Did you just start collecting Neca? (Not a dig at you) you need to warm up the joints before messing with them, especially in the winter. There are many videos you can watch to explain exactly what I'm talking about, I am sorry that happened to you but i was cringing so bad watching the way you were forcing your joints around, these are great figs not shit you just have to know the product before doing what your doing here

Neca doesn't use this shit plastic any more. this two pack was wave 2.. YEARS AGO!!. these are old figures and its unfortunate because they are the most accurate...... There is a Brand NEW Bebop and Rocksteady from neca in there super hero out fits coming to Targets for the next HaulAThon that kicks off FEB 26.

Wtf dude. Wash your hands. That dirt has been there for a long time. These figures have been out for years and there’s lots of reviews. Heat the stupid joints before you force it to move. Learn how to pose them. If the joint doesn’t move right away don’t force it, it’s plastic. Duh.

That shouldn’t give him a 0/10 also Neca is notorious for their joints. You were being very aggressive with rocksteady I was nervous it was gonna break while you moved it. Use a hairdryer to worm the joints then it will snap back in always heat the joints up before moving the joints .

Sorry this happened man, I heated mines in hot water before trying to pose mines because I was afraid of something like this happening to mines.
I've recently learned that is the thing to do. I didn't know! So to just soak them?

Neca has switched to ball joint hips. I hope they reissue Rocksteady and Bebop with those new style hips

$15-$20 ain't bad. I haven't used the business for the majority of my stuff. We carry some of the stuff but I generally buy from big bad or direct.

Are you new to Neca? Neca figures frequently have at least one joint that needs to be heated before you move it.
I am relatively new to action figure collecting. I currently have around 10 neca figures and have never had anything like this happen.

I did!!! From what I'm seeing, Target has an event going on similar to Haul-a-thon. I have the robots from last year. They are amazing!

Honestly not a jab at you. People a lot of times take offense to these types of comments. He has many good points. Posing rocksteady isn’t hard at all. That shouldn’t give him a 0/10 also Neca is notorious for their joints. You were being very aggressive with rocksteady I was nervous it was gonna break while you moved it. Aaaand your reviewing toys you should definitely wash your hands. I really enjoyed your review but it was hard seeing all the dirt on your hands and fingernails. Take the criticism to your advantage.
