Hello Nick! Thank you so much for this much awaited review. As always, I'm grateful for your detailed review and your honesty in giving fair assessments to products. This is really the reason why I keep coming back to check out your content. Tech reviewers out there, please take a page out of this great channel! As for the device itself, I have to say that based on your observations I'm feeling a tad bittersweet. I don't necessary mind that the benchmark scores are not the highest. I think it's powerful enough for daily use, but my slight disappointment comes from the status bar not dropping down, and the LAN issue being a considerable deterrent. First, I love pure Android because you can do such things as using the status bar to get to notifications and launch apps from there to address what the notification is about, and second: the LAN issue is major, especially if I intend to use this to access a cable subscription service that requires LAN connection primarily. I found this device really attractive in the fact that you can expand storage with a SATA drive, the included 4GB of RAM and the ability to install a cooling fan. I just wish that those issues above get resolved in a future firmware update. I think that given the price point in comparison to the Ugoos M6, this latter looks more attractive to me at this time, but I wish the M6 carried 4GB of RAM straight out of the box. Perhaps it will be a waiting game to see if another Ugoos M6 model with 4GB gets released, or the firmware in the a95x Max + fixes the issues that would make this a top notch box. Either way, I'm truly appreciative of this excellent review. Keep the amazing work you do, and now I'm off to take care of my wife whose due date to give birth to our first child was yesterday. If nothing happens naturally today, I'll be a daddy tomorrow! Cheers. -Edwin
Awesome review brother NICK. Mich appreciated. Man that is one sweet box. I would like to get on of those. Keep the awesome reviews coming. Hope you have an awesome weekend.
I have the original a95X Max. I put 256 drive into it’s sd bay loaded with 10k retro games. So. Without touching the 4/64gb. I was able to jump to gaming or streaming. Also can add a fan to them. 1 gigabyte. And I hooked up 2. 8 bitdo controllers for 2 player Mario kart to Sega games etc very fun time. Still runs great at 8.1 os s905x2. I know they’ve upgraded to A95x max 2. But not needed for what I do. . Do more serious gaming on. Nvidia
I ordered one of these and it just arrived yesterday Got it all set up and loaded all the same apps that I had on my T95Q onto it. The box itself works great and is plenty fast, but I cannot get the bluetooth gamepad into pairing mode to pair it with any device. I've tried it with the A95, my android phone and a windows 10 laptop, but none of them even detect it. Which makes me think its either faulty, or I'm not correctly putting it into pairing mode. The short instruction booklet it comes with is not helpful, it has instructions for pairing with a Nintendo Switch, but not the android box. And the instructions it lists for putting the gamepad into pairing mode do not work. If I hold the Home button for 3 seconds, one of the 4 LEDs lights and starts flashing quickly, but thats the only thing I can get it to do, and nothing detects it. Any help with this would be ideal, I am pretty tech savy, but not having a model name or number to look any info up is not helpful. Thanks.
I purchased a Bluetooth gamepad that had a similar issue, it turned out that holding the home button was not correct button to activate paring mode. It was the home button and another button that set it in paring mode. Pressing the home button just set's it to seek for an existing saved connection. This might be the case for you as they are all similar. Try pressing "A" and the "HOME" button for 2 seconds for Android Mode. Nintendo Switch mode is "Y" and the "HOME" button. Hope it works for you too
@@tvboxstop, thanks for the quick reply. I actually figured it out about 10 mins after I posted this, LOL! I had been googling it all afternoon yesterday, with no results. FYI for anyone with the same controller, hold the Home and Y buttons for 3 seconds until the first LED blinks rapidly. That's the proper pairing mode for this gamepad. Then your devices will detect it.
Hi HK Wee, screen rotation really benefits users of vertical digital signage, much like what you see in malls and in retail stores. Because the displays are vertical in a rectangular shape rotating to 90° to the left or right is needed to achieve an upright picture. Other than that no one else really use a screen rotation. Sometimes screen rotation can become a problem if the box has this feature and there is no way to disable it or stabilize it. Some apps not if all apps were designed to run on a mobile devices that have the same vertical configuration as digital signage and the app sometimes automatically rotates the 90° when it should stay in landscape mode on a TV box. The box does not have the option to to adjust screen rotation this makes it difficult and irritating to use that app.
Noticed that when I click on the Action Games app and pick one of the games that makes use of the *wiimote*, I get a green screen with Mandarin text that says "Please register" and when I click ok, it returns back to the screen to select a game. Every game does this, and I'm not exactly sure what its asking me to do. I've looked through all of the pre-installed apps and I don't see the option to register anything anywhere. Has anyone else run into this issue?
@@tvboxstop Yeah, I checked it when the box arrived a couple of weeks ago, and literally just checked it again. Nothing, its up to date. Fortunately this isn't a deal breaker for me, but it is a bit of a let down. I also sent an email to the one listed under "About" in the TV Store app, because its the only email option I can find. I decided sending a message to the AliExpress seller is a waste of time, after I tried that with the first issue I had with the gamepad; they did respond, but I honestly don't think they understood my inquiry.
Loving (most) of the features and the design. Really disappointing only 32bit apps support, same on the a95x max. Why would they do this. At this price I rather spend a bit more and go for the nvidea one.
For me, one MASSIVE, GLARING, and obvious mistake is putting ALL the usb port's on the front. Best deign and user functionality would have been to put one of each of the usb port's on the back of the unit.
I opened the opened up the box and the reason for the port placement is due to the S922X mainboard. The ports are located on either side of the board so they could have fixed the ports to either side
@@voyager4328 What I am saying the board is flat with ports on either side opposite to each other. So if they angled it differently it would end up on the sides instead if to the front and back.

The box can handle it, that streaming ability heavily depends on the App/APK/Addon you are using and you internet speed which shouldn't lower than 40Mbps
Hi! Is this Tv Box has automatic safty eject internal HDD when turned OFF ? Or you need to click every to saferty remove it ( prevent damage hdd) . Second think, is this restarting after pulg in any external usb drive ? MY two s905x2 boxes has this issue. Thanks
Those will usually require a firmware update to fix bugs. However firmware development I believe has stopped for this model. They usually stop and focus on later projects due to new Android version releases.

Different sellers include different gamepads I discovered. So I am not sure which model you have. If it doesn't come with a dongle, then it's obviously connected via Bluetooth. Find the combination of button to press the center the LED on the gamepad blinking continuously which indicates that is ready to prepare with the TV box. Go into the settings area on the Bluetooth and search for a new device and you should be able to connect to the gamepad. But like I said I am not sure which gamepad have included in your purchase so it's difficult to guide you 100%.

Remove the 4 screws at the bottom, remove metal base, then pop off plastic cover, and there is the slot to slide in a 2.5" HDD or SSD no screws required, slide it in.
Which company produced the TV box you tested? Why is my A95 Max Plus Antutu score only 78188. AIDA64 shows that the CPU is 4XARM 0×0D09 @ 1704MHz. Is it a 922X CPU chip?
Without the inclusion of a cooling fan the clocked it at that speed for safe heat management. However, it results in lower performance compared to similar models.
