I just started playing this game. This is the best maths-based game I've ever played. It's the first game that right from the beginning makes be ask myself "how do I generalise this?" Rather than being pissed off that this isn't really what maths is like, it makes me wonder what branches of maths this involves. Would basic set theory be enough to describe what's going on, or is there more?
Mathematical logics I guess, which is based on set theory and applied to automation and AI. Specifically, it's about axiom theory, which focuses on sufficiency and conciseness. Even the late game improving the performance is relevant, since it's basically balancing the amount of theorems and the complexity of deduction.
It's not! This developer has made two games previously, called ComPressure and Infinite Turtles. I would highly recommend checking out Infinite Turtles!
This game is a neat idea but it could definitely use some work. In particular, it could use some form of short tutorial for each new concept it introduces. Things like x+/x- are fairly self-explanatory but x* isn't until you get to stuff like x+y*, and that's not necessarily self-explanatory to everyone. And on the other side you have the x/y or x/y/z ones. For anyone who does programming, the "/" signifies division but the game doesn't bother to inform you that it means that it's exactly one of those numbers rather than something division-based.
@@AliceErishechI think it has been there for a while. I haven’t played this game recently either but I recalled that after the full release it has instructions on what each indicator means.
38:13 Essentially the problem with your rule here is that it generates a constraint that satisfies one of the top two E.g. 1- + 1- generates a 2- but then that 2- can form 2- + 1- = 3-
Aah yes, a 40 minute video in which I cannot decipher anything I'm looking at.
21:54 and that's the issue. If you delete the 1- you no longer know that there can't be 2 bombs in that space
died to a rule explosion, sounds about right
Half the game at some point turn into not making rules that just goes infinitely in a useless direction
This video captures the midgame Bombe experience flawlessly, great work
Glad your playing the game again
i sunk like 10 hours into Bombe over a few days then never touched it again and frankly I had a great time

I'll need to play this on my own to even understand what's happening, but it looks super cool!
Not zero cracks me up, like, there is an amount of mines, no kidding!
I get that reaction to 0+, but !0 actually does give you information: it tells you that there is at least one mine.

As a kid I never understood minesweeper. It wasn't until years later that it dawned on me what the numbers really mean.
and then you find the 9 number
To prevent duping so many rules just make rules e.g. (x/x+1 -> x+)
Wouldn’t that trigger the Illogical flag since x+2 meets x+, but not x+1?
@@redstonewolfx Deductions are one way; They do not represent exact equivalence, but instead material conditionals
the Y is actually Psi, a greek letter
i don't know what makes it different from X but it is different
It's different, that's all. It's if you want to have 2 or more variables in a rule
do you pronounce it as "sigh" or "see"?

isn't that the oppa gangnam style guy
that would be PSY

The fifth screen of the tutorial/help section (click on the question mark in the top left) explains what all of the regions mean.

@@nevorotem6819 yes the game's cap is 32
Fun thing is it has a positive cap but no negative cap. So through some file editing you can add negative offsets and break stuff a lot
