When this leaked out I was going over my entire wishlist of everything I wanted in it with a friend at work. They captured everything and then some. The shards of Narsil area is probably my favorite. Such a great scene in Fellowship with Boromir and Aragorn. They did that painting justice for sure. I literally have nothing bad I can say about this set except I would've liked a "ranger" Aragorn but I'm sure we'll get more sets. Right Lego? Right? :)
Honestly, I can't pick a favorite part, virtually everything about this set is so far beyond my expectations. I will say the waterfall is the prettiest part of the build, but I love all of it.
I’m in love with this set. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I hope any more LOTR sets coming are equally as beautiful. I can definitely see them doing Barad-dur and Minas Tirith due to teases in this set but I hope they also do some regular sized sets that aren’t hundreds of dollars.
FINALLY!! I’ve been so excited for this review! I don’t know if I’ll get this set considering the price but I ADORE it. I hope it’s available for a long time and those who can afford it do buy it, we need more Lord of the Rings!!
Love the minifigs overall (the amount of new prints exclusive to a single set is unprecedented), but it is weird that they made new faces for Gimli (face almost completely covered by helmet and beard) and Gloin (beard plus very minor character), but not for Legolas or Arwen. Would've much rather had new prints for the latter two and had Gimli reuse the Hagrid face (bushy brown eyebrows and eye wrinkles) and Gloin reuse... well, any old man face, I suppose.
I'd absolutely die if they did a adult collector oriented Bag End. The one they did release for The Hobbit is pretty awesome, but imagine what they could do at $500! Have the whole house underground with the ability to open it up in multiple ways and segments.
On the map of Middle Earth, even though the shape is very reminiscent of Orthanc I think based on its position that tower might actually be Minas Morgul, since Orthanc would be to the north of Helm's Deep in Isengard and Minas Morgul is directly East of Minas Tirith near the border of Mordor.
Its one of the largest toy companies in the world with probably hundreds of designers and you're talking about 2 way different sets from completely different themes
I'm glad you noticed the swapped Sam and Marry's hair, I guess at some points in the movies Sam's hair was a little orange ish but that was towards the end of trotk, so I don't know🤷🏻
I don't understand all the criticism for this set. People have been begging for 10 years that Lego bring the IP back and then they give us possibly one of the most detailed sets ever produced and people complain? I agree the Minifigures could be better and I don't really understand why Lego just didn't use the exact same prints from the older ones since those are pretty much perfect but they still look very good. If anything the older Lord of the Rings sets got things way more inaccurate because they had to make them smaller for pricing. Y'all remember the original Rivendell set? With its small trees and small little chairs.... I'll take Arwen's cartoony face over that set just being real
Idk if I’ll have enough money for legos this year. I want this set so much, but then the rumored $500+ marvel set and $450 batcave came out, and I want those too. Man, I gotta win the lottery
I hope we get a Lothlorien (Caras Galadhon) that's similar to the one that was on Ideas for years. The large main tree build-house build with a bridge connecting to a smaller (albiet still large) tree that leads down to the ground level that then leads down to the Mirror of Galadriel. I say, also include the fellowship boats and Galadriel's swan gondola. Include: Galadriel, Celeborn, Haldir, Lothlorien Elven Guards, Generic Elves, Aragorn, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Legolas, and Gimli.
I'd love to see something done to represent Mina's Tirith. Lego oddly never did anything based off of it back when releasing LOTR sets. I think the sheer size of the city is what scared them off. I realize that it can't be done minifigure scale, not in full, but I'd love to see something like the front gate if the city with a bit of the courtyard. Include some trebuchets along with some Mordor catapults and siege tower and maybe, just maybe, Grond! Include Gandalf the White, Pippin (Gondorian Armor), Faramir (Armored), Gothmog, and tons of Gondorian and Orc soldiers. Do add-on sets like, say, the throne room, the white tree, a Mumakil with Haradrim, some Riders of Rohan (as well as Gondorian and Mordor) battle packs, the Witchking of Angmar with Fell Beast and Eowyn and Merry in armor, the works.
12:19 I hate people who point these things out but I'm pretty sure that's the tower of Cirith Ungol (where Sam rescues Frodo), not Orthanc. Still I find it wierd that Orthanc, Helm's Deep or Erebor aren't on the map. Looks cool anyways
I noticed that as well. A lot of times Lego will have Easter eggs for upcoming sets in their first few. I def think Cirith Ungol will be one of them. And for such a small tile you can't fit EVERYTHING in there without it looking awful. I think it's fine.
These large sets almost never go down in price (save maybe some coupon sites or something) they usually go UP in price and especially once they are retired.
Wonderfull. The only thing I miss is a display to place the fellowship as they stond when Elrond says: so be ut, you will be The Fellowship of the Ring. And perhaps a balcony where man characters watch out over Rivendell whit another place where Elrond discusses Frodo and the ring with Gandalf. And figures of Saruman and Galadriel to replay a famous scène from the hobbit. Well, you have to make choices and we got now is marvellous. Really marvellous. Perhaps this will be my first, and meaby last, set with this pricetag. Next year Edoras or Helm's Deep, later hobbitton and Minas Tirith? Although that last one must be scary huge.
Hi, amazing review for an amazing set that I would love to buy. Now there is one important question. Is it really 50cm deep or will it fit on my about 40cm deep shelf if I twist it a bit. Would love an answer as I would really like to buy it! Thanks a lot as always 😃
I want the Golden Hall (Meduseld) sooooo bad. They never made anything from Edoras originally, now is the time! Include Theoden, Eomer, Eowyn, Wormtongue, Hama, Gamling, Rohirrim Royal Guards, Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn, Gandalf the White, and some Rohirrim soldiers.
Honestly I much prefer Elrond with a printed crown over the rubber hair piece from before. The crown he wears is very small and sits on his forehead in the movies and the original piece was just way too huge and wasn't really placed where it should be. I wish he had a more unique hair piece instead of the same as the other elves but it's fine.
4 words........set of the year. This may not only be the set of the year, it might be one of the greatest sets of all time. Personally I won't be getting it, because I am broke and don't have $500 bucks to spare 😅 that being said I do think the price point is justified. (Also I can see that you cut your index finger on the "broken blade" be more careful around sharp objects please)
Someone said Arwen and Legolas would have had face prints close enough to what we got and that I was complaining about a 500$ set everyone wants, well yeah it's 500$ it should have everything
Great set. Love most of the new figures but I don't like the eleven hairpiece much prefer the older one. Looks worse on elrond and arwen because we had those great special hair molds from the original wave. Other than that great set
as far as I can see lego actually got sams hair right cause every reference picture of his character from the movies look like his hair is orange or a very dark blonde
1:34 Ash, great vid but saying its worth every penny when you got it for free early is a bit out of touch looks good for value but getting it sent for free dosnt leave you in a good spot to comment on the value
I saw the specification on the official website. It said the size is 75*39*50 (width*height*depth in cm). Is it true? I'm most concern about the depth, since there is no place to fit a set having 50 cm in depth in my house. It doesn't look like it is 50 cm deep in your video.
The set description and designers themselves said they were generic elves meant to populate the Rivendell. They came up with the design for the outfit on their own.
What do you think of this set? What's your favourite part of the set?
Big fan
Idk
I remembered part of it looks similar to one of the old lord or the rings set and I have that one

It will be around for a couple years at least, you'll have time to get it :)

That's on point 😂
I think the round spinning stone in the forge is a whetstone, which was used for sharpening blades, in war, in workshops and in farms
Its a grindstone same use but it is bigger than a whetstone.
I'd absolutely die if they did a adult collector oriented Bag End. The one they did release for The Hobbit is pretty awesome, but imagine what they could do at $500! Have the whole house underground with the ability to open it up in multiple ways and segments.

Wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing with us.
It’s crazy to think the same company that put out the recent UCS hulk buster is also putting out this amazing Rivendell set

This looks absolutely incredible, I wasn't expecting to see a review so soon
My man Ashnflash cut his index finger on the Sword of Narsil 😂
it is a gift
Idk if I’ll have enough money for legos this year. I want this set so much, but then the rumored $500+ marvel set and $450 batcave came out, and I want those too. Man, I gotta win the lottery
Next they gotta do a hobbit ucs set with bilbo, all the dwarves, and gandalf. I would think the best location would be bilbos home
Yes I would totally buy that😭
It will be my biggest set ever, can't wait!
I hope we get a Lothlorien (Caras Galadhon) that's similar to the one that was on Ideas for years. They totally misprinted the instructions for Sam and merry's hair
This is easily my favorite set of all time
I think the hair on Merry and Sam are supposed to be switched. I've seen the same issue in the original set pictures
For the price the small tile stickers should be prints.
Like the Mithrill and the Map
Those mini figures looks a lot better than the old ones

I really love the details on this set, it's really spot on. One of the best sets of 2023 so-far!

superior walkthrough of this set.
Thank you 🙏
This is by far the best LEGO set of 2023 so far, instant 10/10 🙌👏
Can you do a Rivendell and the lion night castle comparison video?
Awesome video ashnflash
In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful and best designed LEGO sets of all time.
Im so hyped to see the return of this theme!!
12:19 I hate people who point these things out but I'm pretty sure that's the tower of Cirith Ungol (where Sam rescues Frodo), not Orthanc. Still I find it wierd that Orthanc, Helm's Deep or Erebor aren't on the map. Looks cool anyways

It was confirmed to be Orthanc. They wanted to include the most important locations rather than having it be accurate
11:26 one pf the tiles is placed wrong (the tile besides the right pillar)
Looks like an awesome set. Currently, the Lion Knights castle is my favorite set that I own. I can't wait to see if there's a new top spot.
Sauron v Esildor yaaaa🎉
Let’s hope we gets more!
Hi could somebody please send me a link for a suitable sized display case to store this model? Preferably from a UK-based company 🙏🏻
Perfect
Do you think the set will get cheaper in 1-2 years or should you buy it soon ?
These large sets almost never go down in price (save maybe some coupon sites or something) they usually go UP in price and especially once they are retired.
@@bloodbought6809 ok thx for the answer :)
I hope LEGO makes a Sallah minifigure using Gimli’s head since they’re both played by John Rhys-Davies
Hey ash, not sure if you noticed but there are a lot of extra takes left in the video that weren't edited out
I would love to get this set but it's too expensive, I mean it's definitely worth it but still
The new face for the legolas figure reminds me of Saul Goodman
I cant wait to get this. Its so beautiful
Absolutely amazing set, definitely a day one purchase for me!
I’ve never been too into LOTR but I just might have to get this set bc it looks phenomenal
I must admit taht the Hadhafang piece (Elven sword) is probably my favourite.

The quality of the prints on the faces has really decreased... Sheesh... It's almost blurry in 33:30
What if we got a Sauron helmet set. Or a Narsil weapon set like the third hammer and caps shield
this looks so cool!
I hope we get more lord of the rings sets
Looks cool, but $500 is pretty high. Need to do a lot of Saving up
Part of that I think I had an old set of it
The sauron design on the painting is the same design used in lego dimensions
@The Errant Knight in the Mist I don't remember seeing him as a minifigure in that game I thought sauron was a bionicle figure in that one
No way it’s almost been ten years time flys 😭
Wow cool
Are those the same weapon racks from the lion knights castle?
It’s crazy that this became a thing, the Minifigures are really good.
Why is bilbos book brown and not dark red?? It'd be fine if even the front sticker was red, but it's such an odd choice
Those statue minifigures. Like the first one that comes up looks like that Mandela catalogue angel/a l t e r n a t e
I wonder am I going to like this more then the lion knights castle!!
My only complaint is Arwen’s face, everything else is superb
How about Han Solo's Legolas face?
finnaly a 500 dollar lego set that feels worth it
I want the sword of elendil complete not just the broken one
what was the build time on this set?
Will it fit an IKEA Billy Shelf?
Can you please share, is the three and the council section all in one bag? Since I am mostly interested in it, together with the minifigures.
I am convinced that sam and merry's hair pieces have been swapped around. If I can get this set I will swap them over
How many stickers in total? Did you have a hard time putting them on the bricks?
The way Americans pronounce Sauron always cracks me up
How fun it is that there is no VIP in my country.

I think all the locations on the map will become sets
What happnd to your fingure
I think my biggest gripe with the set is the mini figures looking a little too cartoonish compared to the original fellowship like torso prints wise
That’s been their style lately…

It's 50 cm deep because of the angle. So you measure from the very back of section 1 & 2 to the front of section 3 when it's angled.
Are the legs from bilbo baggins also the legs from Robby from the Harry Potter cmf? Look similar🫤
Amazing, but I dint have the money
Sam and Merry switched hair pieces
Sam has gingery hair so I guess it works better this way
Is the new hair rubber?
