That's in the 'bought it, but never played it' pile of games for me.
DrDissonance1 It's worth playing for sound design and music alone. One of the best in that area, of any game ever. Gameplay gets a bit repetitive in its current form, though, but it's still fun to play up until the point where you start feeling you're just doing the same thing over and over again. Then you put it down for a time, until you get the space bug again, and then the audio is just as awesome as the first time you picked the game up.

I always wonder if with these kind of covers people got too tired of the oirignal harmonization and are so good that they completely change it up, or you just aren't able to properly hear out the harmonies to replicate them. There fore the instrumentisation and quality is too good for tho
I like to think the former, although this piece sticks quite closely to the original. Copying the harmony to a T lacks inspiration quite frankly.
That's quite interesting. In this case though it's pretty simplified with the rudimentary basic harmony structures. As I said the quality of the instruments and mixing is really great but as for myself I do not like your choice of mixing up the feel of the song. I'm trying to critique without sounding like a dick so I hope you'll just go along. It literally hurts in my stomache listening to this because I am expecting a certain feeling due to my knowledge of the harmonization already and when it doesn't deliver that, my heart jumps of disgust. So obviously that's not always the case, when people rearrange songs I love and cleverly change up the structure of harmonic variations my heart jumps due to joy. I will probably listen to this a few more times to learn even more about myself and am looking forward to an answer of yours maybe.

when the main motiv starts. Normally it starts off with Cm going into Cm / Ab which essentially is a AbMaj7. You just let it rest at Cm which does not give me a pleasent surprise, it just grants me the feeling of dissatisfaction. Same with the Subdominant right after. Instead of cleverly playing with the already existing clever harmonics, which you dont wanna copy, you simply just use Tonic and Subdominant. Sometimes that makes it interesting but not in that case for me. PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. I'd die to have you stems to listen to or something
Come on man, using bodily functions to describe something negative isn't cool. That's the whole reason your second comment came off badly.
The actual critique is sound! I wrote this ages ago, so I can't really defend what I can't remember. But maybe you're right, I was lazy with the arrangement!
However, I would like to mention that you sound a lot like me when I was doing my music degree years ago. I was very into theory, to the point where I'd dismiss anything deemed 'simple'. But since then I've come to realize that you don't get far by telling people you think their subdominant chords make them sick.
Since then, I've gained a very strong appreciation for the simple. My musical style has moved to timbre, rather than harmony. If you're not a fan, that's cool, there's loads of music out there to your tastes. Just don't dismiss others. Trust me, I've been there.
That's fair enough. I certainly do feel 'things' when listening to music. But there's a huge difference when describing that in a positive or negative light, especially if you're not trying to come off as rude. Simpler language when trying to critique something helps. Otherwise it just sounds like you're trying to offend (which you aren't).
