    Where do you get the small square buckets? And most importantly where do we order nets like the ones you’re using! Great videos man!

    Awesome nets, where do you get them from? They looks heavy duty and the short handle looks useful.

    Hi guys. Great video. I have a question for you. How do you support the tanks on top of the vats? Do you have a support beam across, are they just sitting on top? Really like the set up you guys have!

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we do. theres a 2x4 frame. if you go back thru the videos maybe 4 months to a year you can see some videos where they are on top of the vats with no tanks installed yet. They are painted Black so they visually disappear

    Hi Ron how long do you allow your males and females to breed in a colony or group before replacing them with new stock? With regards to your females as they get older do you see a reduction in the amount of eggs being produced as well.

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We get an average of 2-5 years out of our breeder colonies. It just depends on the species. For example mbuna we cycle out every 2-3 years, bigger haps like trout we would cycle out every 4-5 years. We do see a reduction in egg production as they pass there prime breeding age. But still it evens out at the end of the day, heres why. A young female may breed every month and have an average clutch size of 30 fry. Older females may only breed once every 2 months but because they are bigger, they have larger clutch sizes so they may have 60 fry at one time.

    do the drains coming out of the ibc totes on the floor not need a slope?

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not really. there is a slight slope on 1 end but due to the positive flow and the outflow of the building having a slope. gravity pulls it to the pond.

      All the tanks and vats in the addition are for breeders. The vats in the Main section are for growout/For sale

    How long do you guys leave the fry in these hang on boxes before you move them to the 20 gallon?

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1-2 months

    • @bluecollarfox913

      @@ronscichlids the next step is a 75 gallon grow out? Is that the last stage before selling them? Or do they then graduate to IBC tote?

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on the species.
      From the 20gallons, they usually then go to a 40g or 75g.
      Then to a tote if they need more room to grow

    Hi Hunter,
    Great video. I had a question maybe you can answer. I currently have a 40g which has about 25 1 inch red shoulder peacocks in it, from a couple months back. The female is holding again, and I also have a venustus holding. Can I mix the reds and venustus fry in a hang on, and when if ever can I add them to the 40g with the 1 inch fish? Any advice is appreciated.

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I do not recommend mixing 2 different species of new born fry. From my experience, one species will pick on the other one. It is best to keep them separated for a month or 2 before mixing species. As for the larger fry, you won't be able to mix those with the new ones until they are closer to the same size.

    I thought mammals only gave birth to live youngsters😅

    • @ronscichlids
      @ronscichlids  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These don't, they lay eggs, pick them up in their mouth, then incubate them for 2-3 weeks
