He was bad on release. His 6P didn't anti air very well, he had no reliable blood drain besides landing the grab since SSS didn't drain, uppercut was too committal since the follow up was automatic, his clone went nowhere. He was absolutely demolished by Axl and Chipp j2k. Nago was truly mediocre character on release. Any other talk is historical revisionism that doesn't remember the first balance patch.

As a player who loves defense and spacing, she's perfect for me. If you can master her regular form, you'll become a monster. Intertwine and tilt to move forward in base form, frenzy and astonishment to gain meter from projectiles and moves with slow start-up that are easy to read. Her 5K is one of the best pokes in the game. A quick straight forward jab kick is everything. A crouching anti air is wild. She has so many unique options.
I don't care if she's top/bottom tier. A.B.A is what GGST needed. When I played her, it made me remember how fun this game was. She wasn't the character i asked for, but she was someone we all needed.
Guilty gear always has some of the most unique characters even strive where the gameplay has become more shared between the cast. They’re all still so unique. ABA is a great addition
The thing about the vine super is it's weak to jump and Up RC. This is due to the limited vertical hibox, slow startup, and all the blockstun comes from the from the third hit which only works grounded Combine that with FD, it can't really neutral skip fullscreen, only half screen realistically. Even then, you could deflect shield the third hit in the air to invalidate it. And it can be jumped preemptively to be punished hard. One of the reasons Chipp is a bad matchup for her
Its hard to tell. Aba's base level stuff is pretty strong but the ceiling for advanced offense seem pretty high (I think I may have found some interesting tech in terms of setplay maybe). She can be taken much further as meter routes and oki is optimized but on the other hand people aren't fully used to fighting her (I don't see many people using combos that specifically aim to waste her morha time and use the uninstall for more mix options). I don't play at a high enough level to say how good I think she is but one could say she definitely has all the tools she needs to win and if she cracked the upper tiers as a consistent threat I wouldn't be surprised. I'm like 90% sure she is getting a nerf or two down the line, unfortunately.
I personally suffer a lot when playing against her using Anji Mito, and I also manage to get victories that I didn't think I would have against good players who underestimate her.
I remember when the burst meter shield was added people thought it was bad, but since u included it as a point of consoderation does that mean it is considered better now generally?
I am glad they didnt balance her stances out to be more even, my favorite part is she is really weak normally which jutifies her being crazy in stance which makes it more fun an rewarding when you put time in to her but still allows counter play to balance it if your opponent is able to prevent you from going into stance or is able to waste your stance timer

I do think she could have a little quality of life changes here or there. Not big buffs because you risk her just being dumb, but not having an inherent way to raise jealous rage makes playing her painful sometimes. I wish her parry was actually better. Parrying something only to get grabbed and being punished for guessing right feels bad.
I honestly don't mind that much. Sure they can react to the parry and get a knockdown, but I hate how often I think I should get parry off just to get it's startup clipped. I just want the meter man.
Really nice tutorial! Lord knight, did you notice that the charge mechanics works different for street fighter 6 compared to sv 5? For example, when you're charging left or down, in prior street fighter games you could keep holding the charge and then tap right or up to do the special move WITHOUT letting go of the charge left/down [down back]. This seems to have been removed in sf 6??
my goat i don't think a big enough deal was made about her inability to passively get rage. i understand that just letting her build a max rage gauge for nothing would make her fucking stupid, but the problem is that if she ever runs out of gauge vs a character that can escape her in normal mode(which is not a crazy feat), the round's just kinda over. shake hands, it's done. i would legitimately give up either super for a super that just fills her gauge and does nothing else, no invuln, not even goku mode
Very true but that’s less of an ABA issue and more of a player skill issue. If you are seriously playing ABA with competitive notions in mind, your first priority should always be to preserve and gain JR meter whenever possible. The only form in which I believe she should have buffed JR meter gain is a faster parry, maybe even trade some health in exchange for the standard armor and a faster recovery on a successful parry

The problem I have with ABA is because you don’t have room for error. If you get hit once she will hit you with bonding and dissolving. Then she has tons of pressure and mixups and her bounce move basically keeps you unable to block. It’s just not fun to fight against a character where you cannot make a mistake if you’re not an amazing player

ABA has really good tools in normal mode and absolutely broken ones in normal mode. Her having a 4 framer 2P helps with abare and combos directly into command grab, a 236K with 12 recovery frames on whiff (this is actually insane) that moves her hitbox super high up, and big disjoints to counterpoke makes her someone that you shouldn't underestimate even in her weaker mode. It sometimes forces you to lame her out or take the game slower while trying not to use as much stagger pressure compared to other characters, because if they get out once, they can combo into command grab and get into Jealous Rage. Jealous rage is obviously supposed to be really good and normal mode should be pretty bad, but her normal mode being better than Zato and in some areas Bedman feels kind of... bad. In jealous rage, being able to do a bunch of overheads that can crossup normally and having fuzzy mix where the overhead has an 18f startup and you don't even see any good visual indicators for half the startup frames is REALLY unfun to play against (did I mention she can cancel any hit of the two-hit 2H which hits low into it?). Her normals are good, she has good specials, and she turns into the best character in the game in normal mode. I understand how she was in XX, but it doesn't translate well into this game and she feels very poorly designed. Hope she gets her 4 framer taken away, her parry gets better usage, and her 236Kin both base and jealous rage are nerfed heavily.
