What’s respectably about these guys. They’re not in the US to be thrown into jail for nothing. These guys are beating up, robbing and drug dealing.
They are doing those things, however they are clearly trying to move away from that and go legit. They were born into the culture, it is probably a lot harder than you think to break that cycle and go legit when you are brought up surrounded by adults doing the crimes you mentioned. But here they are doing big things in music and bringing a whole neighbourhood with them. I would be willing to bet that the regularity of the crimes in that area has dropped dramatically since proving that they as a neighbourhood or collective can do something productive that isn’t crime related. I obviously don’t think the crimes they commit are respectable that would be simply moronic, however you can see there is an active effort to move away from that, and I think that in itself is very very respectable.

I got locked up for 15 years and when I went my youngest brother was only 3, I came out seeing the same youngest brother that saw me the day before I left, he stabbed a guy that killed my sister and he got locked up for 10. It’s hard knowing that you can’t say goodbye. It’s painful cause u can’t even stand there and watch them go in. It’s just one look for 2 seconds and then u have to keep going. It sucks cause the last time I met him and spent time with him was 15 years ago when I took him to maccas for his 3rd birthday. I fucked up, I just stayed around gangs and got pinched for killing 3 people that had something to do with the death of one of our younginz. Don’t go to jail. I heard about all the new tech and was showed from the other side of the glass and missed out on doing so much things.

Being introduced to ONEFOUR by a close mate of mine, I didn't know what to expect. Listening to their jams, it's exciting to see our Polynesian culture doing big . I'm not gunna blast these men on their upbringing or their past because that's islanders for you. Upbringings are rough and some stray away from what their purpose is , but there's always other paths that lead to the same destination.
In this particular track I see the vulnerability, this spoke volumes and the lyrics is just the truth.

Surrounded by gang members / bikies can have a big and negative influence. Very common thing amongst pacific islanders and other ethnicities. Obviously there is no excuse to what they did.
