Idea for a video; Ness Training Mode Warmup. IDK if you know IZAW (he makes godly training videos), but he made a video on how he warms up and practices, can you make one for ness specifics? where you talk about common chains or movements you do and how to practice them? both this and the basics video were amazing but one full puttingittogether video would be amazing.
One really fun combo I've been playing around with that works about 0 - 20% (perfect after landing a pk fire with the opponent slightly near the ledge) is grab, downtoss, forward air, sidemagnet and then downair off the ledge for a perfect spike. It can be hard to land against players with a lot of experience against ness-players but when you get all these to connect you get early kills and it's incredibly satisfying. Also with the opponent around 24% to do downair, shorthop downair and then follow up with some lit combos. a third downair is possible since there's alot of players who wont expect you to be that greedy. Another cool thing to do towards people struggling against your pk fire (this one is hard to pull of) but when you land a PK fire near your opponent, you can roll around the opponent and hit them with another pk fire, the second pk will have them pushed towards the first pk fire, it's possible to roll again and hit them trice (preferably with the bat). But if the opponent is good with DI I'd keep it to 2 pk's and hit them with the bat since they get pulled towards you instead of away of you when you use this method. Non of these are completely true but definitely good to have in your repertoire. And of course thanks for an amazing vid, really helpful for my neutral gameplay. Look forward following your journey to become the best ness man. Stay fire.
@@vossboss220 Your opponent can DI out of this combo (the combo is not true). If you find them being on your side (away from the platform) instead of under you, just go for a neutral air or get back to the platform ASAP for stagecontrol. I fail many times but when you land this combo it feels SOO GOOD.
Another idea: Video where you talk about The specific stages of each match and how ness should play them, nuetral, advantage, disadvantage, and edgeguarding/ledgetrapping.
amazing. i dont even play ness outside of randoms in arenas but the one time i did i just started randomly spamming pk magnet b reverse and it broke my opponent's mind. after watching this video i can confidently say that my pocket ness is schmoovin

So many people sleep on psi magnet its crazy. I can only imagine how wild it gets in the future meta. Great video man. Also where can i find that onett remix in the intro? It sounds fire
man, this is some big brain stuff. uh, I don’t know if this is helpful for any beginners but: you can tilt the L-stick “back” immediately after a PSI Magnet to switch the direction you’re facing. (Yeah, I know it’s basically RAR.)
@@jobliar937 yes, but I'm not sure how viable it actually is in a real match. think of how Ganon can turn around while using Warlock Punch if you immediately hit "back" on the L-Stick after pressing the B button.
Bestness you can actually do this tech I found where you double jump and magnet on the same frame and it pushes you upwards a little bit. This is useful out of attacks like the last hit of up air and if you double hit it, you can lead it into a dair. I've found this useful when I play as a cool and useful confirm.
I'm trying to "double jump cancel turnaround" with psi magnet, but I keep "double jump cancel b reverse" instead. Like I want to djc and turn my ness while keeping my momentum. What am I doing wrong?
Hey, please don't be annoyed of me by this question...but Do you think Mii gunner can utilize its version of PSI magnet in the same or similar way? ..I know the aerials are different, but could you give it a try or let me know? Thanks!
Jýùîčý Bøí I switched my control setup to have the R button be a jump so I short hop with R+Y and it helped a lot. The A+Y shortcut is fine too but I noticed with Ness I used it for fair a lot and since it does it the same every time I’d miss short characters.
At 3:06 I cannot get the psi magnet to combo into up air on Richter, typically I only get two hits of upair, sometimes I'll get three but they won't be true/counted in the combo counter like his. My inputs are: dash right -> jump immediately while still holding right -> psi magnet immediately -> hold right immediately -> buffer uair
@@Scorpio3002 thanks for the info, I would've kept trying for a long time. Still having a hard time getting the bair to register as true, but I've gotten it a few times so I think that's just practice. Do you happen to know if the combo counter is flawless now or still pretty lacking?
@@ianwilson9961 From what I hear, they appear to have gone a step too far in patching it. It will register a combo as dropped on the opponent's first frame out of hitstun, but most characters don't have frame-1 options for getting out of combos (exceptions being Pokemon Trainer's down-b, Luigi's cyclone, Yoshi's double jump, Snake's grenades, and a couple others). As I understand it, there shouldn't be any more false positives, but there are a lot of combos that will be true on 90% of the cast, but won't be counted as such in training mode. Magnet>upair could be one of them for all I know. To know for certain, you will need to get an enhanced training mode mod through an Arduino or Titan; then you could instruct the AI to airdodge on the first possible frame, and see if it breaks the combo.
Great video! I've been trying to optimize my Ness play but a lot of the time my wave bounces with magnet just aren't reliable. Should I continue to practice them or focus on other ways to move with magnet?
I'm falling asleep while watching this after a busy day and my brain thought you were talking about how to have a family to like you if you entered their home by mistake. What does that have to do with PSI Magnet? No clue.
Using PSI Magnet is very useful for both Lucas and Ness, though they differ a lot. Lucas use the Magnet in front of him, leaving his back unsafe, and the hitbox actually appear when you release B (like parrys would) instead of continuous hitboxes like Ness'. Nevertheless, using PSI Magnet with Lucas still is a good option for stalling, for reversing, absorbing magic projectiles of course and can be used in some combos (although it has a bigger knockback).
can someone tell me what am i doing wrong i try to do the RAR PSI CONFIRM and when the psi hits the opponent it sends him too far that the bair doesn’t connect can anyone help me?
Hey super late, but I think they aren't being sent too far you probably aren't going far enough.
