There's a moment in Throne of Bhaal when a lich sees you and immediately begs for mercy because it's heard of you. That was such a satisfying moment after the number of deaths from previous liches... and mind flayers... and level 1 gibberlings...
After 100+ playthroughs, I now try to avoid cheese tactics and exploits as much as possible, because they fast forward the game and effectively reduce the amount of content you're playing. Instead I take it easy, play by the rules, roleplay my character's alignment, talk to each npc, open every chest, and read every book. I also try to play with as many lore-friendly quest mods installed as possible.
Didn't know about ANY of these glitches lol. Beated the game 20+ times and its just that good that i never thought about cheats. Great vid, had a nice laugh
At 14:18, you can also beat the lich by leaving the room everytime he casts a spell and then go back in, rinse and repeat. He will eventually run out of spells.
Another "trick" you can do is you can defeat Frigrack the Ancient Red Dragon by collecting a bunch of cloud kill wands, then standing off screen and repeatedly casting them in the room. It takes around 4 fully charged wands to do it, but you'll suffer no deaths get a +5 holy avenger and well..:) Kill the Red Dragon. Having that sword with a Pally really makes the game easy
Yeah, or a patched up version. I remember playing BG2 and not being able to dupe items anymore. I thought this was a BG1 exploit, before watching this video I honestly thought it wasn't in BG2 anymore. Probably because I always downloaded the latest patch.
One thing not to do, rush to the underdark like the story suggests you should. First playthrough ended there, where enemies were 5+ levels higher than my characters and I couldn't get past a fight against 8 or so enemies 5+ levels higher than me.
@@A_Spec yes indeed. The next playthrough I did it different. One of those situations where the game should have slowed you down from following the main quest with the immediacy suggested by the narrative ha ha. Baldur's Gate 2 was definitely the peak accomplishment of Bioware, although Mass Effect is a close number two.
Regarding the Crooked Crane; you can just solo the encounter with a scroll of Protection from Undead since he remains in passive mode while you take him down.
If you used the import function of the game you could import your character from BG1 and if you exploited the duplicate function in back end of BG1 you could import a character were all stats were 25. This was one of the reasons why Neverwinter Nights did allow character imports from BG2.
You could literally break the first Baldur's Gate if you started your adventure with imported character of higher level. All you needed was Cleric/Mage with the ability to spam tons of skeletons and haste. Start game in Candlekeep. Spam as many undead as you possibly can around Gorion, pause, tell your horde to attack him, move out of the way so he's no longer visible, haste your minions and throw in any buffs you can. Normally if you attack Gorion he will one shot kill you with his spell, but if he can't see you, he can't kill you. And there's too many skeletons for him to kill them all and they will eventually, ever so slowly, kill Gorion for you. Congratulations. Now you're stuck in Candlekeep forever!
In vanilla BG1, I've done the same thing with a level 1 Fighter/Mage due to a self-discovered bug; if you manage to Charm Person Gorion and wait out the entire duration of the spell, his script causes him to run at you with a knife, at which point killing him is just a matter of kiting him around Candlekeep and shooting him with arrows.
@@ZerglingWasteland @classicfrog80 I've also killed Gorion, a third way. Import a team of sorcerers/mages, 5 hitting him with lower resistance (20% each for a total of 100% magic resistance removal) and 1 hitting him with Wand of Paralyzation. This pauses his script for the duration of the paralysis, so you can then beat him down. You can also use this for pretty much every other character in the game, even in BG:EE. Thus you can also break the game in other ways, such as killing Sarevok in the Duchal Palace, which will allow the game to run on for about a minute or two before it crashes. Tethtoril at the start is actually the toughest character in the game with around 1,000 hit points as well as the same instant lightning kill as Gorion, but he'll go down the same way, although you'll need to re-cast lower resistance and paralysis on him to finish him off probably because of so many hitpoints. Ulraunt similar I think from memory, though easier. However, you cannot kill Tazok at the Bandit Camp, and you cannot kill Volo, at least in BG:EE. I am not sure why, the game simply doesn't allow them to hit 0 hit points. If anyone has found any ways of killing them, please let me know! :)
I imported my Thief/Mage multiclass into a new game, and when the time came for the two guys to test you on whether you could handle yourself in a fight, i backstab-critted one of them for close to 100 damage. Didn't kill him, surprisingly.
Also you can solo your way as a Warrior Dual Class mage or solo as a monk. I think most know but you can also keep underdark weapons and armor by giving them to imoen and removing her from the group before you leave underdark.
My god the swap gem with potion for integer underflow thing has been there since the days of the original BG 1. I think they even pushed a patch. LOL can't believe the same trick is back.

My favorite broken char is a kensai / mage dual class. With melf's minute meteors active + dual wield, your character attacks with their melee weapons in between throwing the meteors, despite being across the screen from the target. terribly broken lol
Game developer lesson learned: Don't let game progression be hindered by lack of money, 'cause people will always find a glitch to make a lot of money!
You mentioned Vecna. They use that name in the latest Stranger Things episode. Perhaps that why people are watching? TH-cam also recommended you to me. Be careful with the iOS version. If you click the wrong button (looks like a white keyboard; I thought it was settings), the game will exit without saving. You lose anything you did. This immediately cooled my enthusiasm.
Right now I'm replaying the game and tried the item overflow glitch myself (never heard about it before). Selling 65,535 Star Sapphires for 39,321,000 gold pieces is ridiculous. But for some reason Rogue Stones are less profitable and yield "only" 12,373,154 gold pieces for the same amount, even though its base price is 2.5 times higher than Star Sapphire's; although, I suppose if you're greedy enough you can sell them in batches of 20 (which is "official" gem stack size) that should yield like 98,302,500 gold for ~3200 batches. Also, speaking of greed, I just imagined Korgan and Kagain carefully dividing 65,535 gems into thousands of stacks to sell them at better price, constantly bickering with each other, and it made me chuckle (of course, after that Korgan just whacks Kagain with an axe to get his share too, gets drunk at the Copper Coronet, accidentally falls into the Alandor river and drowns). P.S. And it goes without saying that even considering the game is going to be 25 years old in this year's September, Shadows of Amn is still one of the best cRPGs ever made and easily the best game BioWare has ever made.
Another way to break it is use the gold duplication glitch to buy every scroll in adventurers Mart magic lady disband all group and level up main character off the scrolls
so if you made that character in baldur's gate 1 and collected the 6 books that increase stats, you could use the dupe you just showed to have infinite number of books in that game, allowing you to get to 25 in all stats, then just export the character to bg2

How dare you say Napoleon Dynamite has low charisma. He won Pedro the school president position. Before somebody tries to say nat 20, he won over Deb, which is an awful lot of checks that would be impossible with a negative modifier.
What this does say is the programmers did a good job on this game. Otherwise there would be like 10 triggers you failed to activate and you broke the game which means you can't continue.
Sadly this is probably patched in the enhanced edition, yet they haven't patched the glitch where two of my characters end up in exactly the same spot and I can't move either of them.
Its just the rank stupidity of choosing a transmuter and losing access to all the most important functions of a mage in that game. Popped for me cause I was watching someone who actually knows what they are doing.
It's not surprised there are exploits in a game this complex, especially for the time it was made. But yes... You SHOULDN'T play the game like this, haha.

To me its the greatest game ever made for single player.
Robe of Vecna? This makes no sense! Vecna is a character from Greyhawk and this games takes place in the Forgotten Realms!
Christian Psion multiverse ;)
@@ben5056 Not necessarily multiverse, it could all be in the same universe through spelljamming
@Christian Psion definitely
Because shoes up in a lot of planes hell he's in ravenloft as well
What this does say is the programmers did a good job on this game. Otherwise there would be like 10 triggers you failed to activate and you broke the game which means you can't continue.
haha yeah think about some Bethesda games, you think you do everything right and quests still break lol
You saved Yoshimo, abandoned Imoen, skipped entire chapters of the game. Game code and plot are mere suggestions.
Break all the things
Sadly this is probably patched in the enhanced edition, yet they haven't patched the glitch where two of my characters end up in exactly the same spot and I can't move either of them.
Its just the rank stupidity of choosing a transmuter and losing access to all the most important functions of a mage in that game. Popped for me cause I was watching someone who actually knows what they are doing.
New video series "Aspec Breaks Old Games"
If you ignore the wolfweres they disappear
Killing Liche's with the throwing axe from the slums is easy.
Probably been mentioned before, but on a mage (or any non d10 hp class) doesn't get any benefit from constitution beyond 16.
It's not surprised there are exploits in a game this complex, especially for the time it was made. But yes... You SHOULDN'T play the game like this, haha.
I play through these games every few years and I learned some fun tricks from you I'm going to have some fun with these.
