When I heard Limbisa Ngai 50 years ago it became clear to me that Dr Nico was way ahead of his time the style of his guitar was impeccable the music was unparalleled , today this day I play this number as if bought yesterday ,the man was a genius
I grew up with this music during the Biafran /Nigeria war I soon lost contact after the war. Dr. Nico can now continue to sing me to sleep like a baby. How can be people be so blessed and gifted? Thank God I have been reunited with this song and never to depart no more. May god continue to bless Dr. Nico for ever and ever !! and ever!!! and.....!!! and......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Nico had one of the most natural, effortless, melodious-honey style in guitar playing, singing and orchestral arrangement ever witnessed anywhere in space or time. Pure innate TALENT!!
Limbisa Ngai is one of the finest African songs in terms of arrangement, quality singing and sweetness, I ever had the privilege of hearing and witnessed performed live. The guitar playing and style is devine.... Genius!
does this have anything to in terms of influencing king sunny adé from nigera? i feel reminded somehow... i saw king sunny live when he toured germany in the 80s and early 90s - i had discussions with a kolleague who claimed european classical music was the only music in the world with real masters, while i tried to convince him, that every country has its own culture and its own masters - so when king sunny adé came even to our little town, i managed to take this kolleague to that concert - they had already started, and when we entered the room my friend didn´t even go further on - he was so captured by the sound and the performance that he stood there for nearly the whole concert, mouth open, mesmerized - sweet? afterwards, he confirmed me: "the talking drummer was a master indeed!" ...and i agree with you, this ought to be one of the sweetest songs i´ve heard, it´s very beautiful... love and best wishes from germany
Ah! Nico!
