Kalos honestly has the coolest architecture of the Franchise. The Kalos league? The Gyms? The Towns? They're all so full of life, they have so much personality and charm.
They were inspired by real french cities, Paris = illumis etc… , and it’s one of the first and only time it was so accurate. By the way, a little fun fact, kalos in Ancient Greek καλός means beautiful
to be fair, the different perspective and camera angle makes it look completely different to me. i can navigate viridian forest easily due to memory but santalune is so weird.
X&Y's story is so messy and yet I always get a little emotional when the Floette returns to AZ. It's kinda silly but I think whoever the cutscene director was really nailed the tone of that reunion, even if you have to let yourself forget about the shoddy storytelling up to that point to really let it sink in.
Man that scene gets me everytime 😭 It's just so sad and emotional to see Floette appear after all this time and AZ basically crying, seeing his beloved Floette thinking he'd never see it again. God I just can't. I love it ;-;
I won’t act like X and Y is the best of the Pokémon series, but I do wish more people recognize that this game was a huge step away from the pixel style. I’m sure most of this game was experimental even for the Pokémon Company. There’s a lot of little things you can do that you couldn’t do in other games like rollerskating, customizing your character, customizable Pokémon (Furfrou mostly), full friend group (instead of 1-2 rivals), mega evolution, and probably more things I can’t remember at this moment. I think the saddest thing about this game is that Pokémon Z was scrapped cause it probably would have made the game feel complete.
i think gen 6 was more about the transition to 3d/the post-game experience. it got a lot of people into the series, and with all of the new shiny-hunting/online features, it honestly was a p good experience at the time
Yeah as someone who played gen 6 obsessively at the time it was all about the post game. Being the first game stepping into a new era for pokemon and being the first for the 3ds made it immensely popular in my friend group despite all the problems people have with it now.
@@Philbyyyy I guess post game isn't entirely accurate it was all shiny hunting and playing vgc. My First game was blue but the first game I knew how to do more than brute force through the game with Charizard was Diamond lol.
@@Lucarioguild7 I agree but I wouldn't classify that as "postgame". Usually that term is relegated to exclusive features like Battle Frontier and what not. Although I think X&Y are by far the worst Pokemon games looking at it from the perspective of multiplayers was and still is great at least until 3DS servers go down.
@@WretchedRedoran let's be real, it wasn't a remake, it was a remaster, had it been a remake, maybe they could've actually made it better than the originals, like platinum was, and not just a copy and paste of diamond and pearl on a different generations' hardware
The name of the mega evolution guru is Gurkinn! Though the name wasn't really mentioned in the games besides by like one NPC. Olympia should've been the eighth gym. Even the anime treated her as a far more important character than Wulfric. And yes, the design of the Gyms in this game is insane, they absolutely took full advantage of the 3D effect. I mean, the surprise of walking to the middle of what looks like a normal building in the Anistar Gym and seeing it all disappear as it turns into a sphere surrounded by a night sky with different galaxies and constellations was mind-blowing. Not to mention the stunning Coumarine Gym and the fact the first ever Fairy gym at Laverre City is a GIANT DOLLHOUSE...well played. The buildings actually have life in them. The architecture, the soundtrack, the different Vivillon patterns, Mega evolutions, the XY games definitely deserve more love! I instantly fell in love with the entire Fennekin line, and while most of the rivals weren't interesting, I really enjoyed Shauna. The little story beat at the castle or whatever was really enjoyable to me for whatever reason. And Kalos' Pokémon League is by far the most beautiful League in the Pokémon world. Not to mention because the Z season of the XY anime was incredible. The XY anime introduced many to the franchise!
This game *really* needed a third version. XY feel so incomplete; Pokemon Z would have fixed that. Instead we got a Zygarde collection sidequest in Sun/Moon.
If you were a sophomore in high school when Gen 6 came out then I’m about 3 years younger than you. X and Y came out when I was starting 7th grade and I loved them. They were probably my favorite games when they released. I loved strolling around on the roller skates, exploring all the buildings in the towns and cities (especially in Lumiose), finding new Pokémon, and using the new Mega Evolutions (which is still the best generational mechanic). Now, 10 years later, they’re not my favorite games anymore-not even my favorite Pokemon games. I can see their problems and shortcomings. But when I go back to them, nostalgia takes over and I still feel the wonder I had when I first played them. 3 years after X and Y released, Sun and Moon came out. By then, I would have been as old as you were when Gen 6 was new, and I was disenchanted by them. I didn’t care for a lot of the new characters, new locations, or new mechanics. I didn’t really care for Team Skull at first and I thought the lack of gym battles and traditional badges was off-putting. I finished the games once and put them away, immediately going back to my favorites from Gens 3 through 6. I can’t say for certain whether it’s that age where Pokémon feels stale, but it is interesting that 10th grade is where I also had a falling out with the series, after being a fan for years. I did enjoy Legends Arceus and Scarlet / Violet, so I’m still a fan of the series, but there was definitely a lull in my enjoyment from 2016 to 2021
Pokemon-wise, X is actually one my favorites. There were some incredible new Pokemon available in the Kalos region. A part of it was probably the addition of the fairy type, which quickly became my favorite. The starters are all great too, which is a nice change from Unova (I know a lot of people are only fans of Froakie, but I actually love them all. The game is definitely too easy, but it's still a fun experience, and the graphics are pretty good and despite having too many "friends" in this game, I think they did a good job of not spending too much time on explanations and cut scenes. Can't say the same about the Alola games.
@@aganhim I personally agree more with MandjTV who said he thought after you stop Lysandere, every important boss battle, should have had a mega. So the final gym, probably the last rival fight pre-post game and the E4.
Yup in the anime, Grant indeed had a Tyrunt, but his other Pokémon was Onix, which he used in his battle against Viola at the Battle Chateau. Thus, Ash knew what he was in for ahead of time when he saw Grant's Rock Tomb strategy. Ash came up with an idea to defeat Onix in the episode An Undersea Place to Call Home, an episode that was postponed due to the sinking of the MV Sewol ferry in South Korea in April 2014, as the episode was about seeing a ship that ended up at the bottom of the ocean called the SS Cussler. In the episode, Ash noticed Froakie make an incredible leap while carrying Skrelp in order to escape from a whirlpool. Thus, Froakie was key to defeating Onix in Climbing the Walls. And yes, the Snorlax and Parfum Palace bit was in the anime too, but they approached it differently. Instead of on a bridge, Snorlax was sleeping in the middle of town and the gang learned that every year when the town does a harvest, Snorlax comes to eat, the town thus gets their fields plowed in the process, and they celebrate with a festival to thank him. Lord Shabboneau usually has the flute, but it was revealed Princess Allie of Parfum Palace took it. So they went to the palace, she challenges Ash to a battle, but despite Ash winning, she still refused to give the flute...until she let them have it on the condition of leaving Clemont with her. Of course, Clemont would end up escaping in the end, building a bot that would end up exploding.
I was worried you wouldn't show that final and very special battle against AZ. But I'm so glad you did. Pokemon X and Y came out when I was in 8th grade, over 10 years ago, and even though I've never played it myself, I've always enjoyed watching others play through it. I had a friend that absolutely struggled with catching Mewtwo in the post game quests, but I knew how rewarding it must've felt when he finally did catch it. I feel like Pokemon X and Y are two of the most meaningful to me in that regard. Good job, I'm happy you got to play it once again! :)
Gen 6 was very memorable for me. The tv show was revitalized, PSS letting you trade and battle from the touch screen, the first titles with a worldwide launch, mega evolutions and Symphonic Evolutions. All that brought the fans closer than ever before, even bringing back fans that haven’t touched the games since the GameBoy days. Battling with random people in the school cafeteria with StreetPass was so much fun 😭
@@markspc1285 the nostalgia is crazy but seeing Pokémon in that level of 3D felt overwhelming and skating is one of the best quality of life additions to Pokémon so much speed and you can hop on and off so easily while still fitting in gaps
I remember people disliking it at the time but I really enjoyed it. First 3d game, first customizable characters and MEGA EVOLUTION!! This game brought me back in for the first time since platinum which doesnt seem like a long time but 5 years as kid felt like a life time. Also all the new gen pokemon were awesome
Pokémon X and Y were such huge Pokémon games for me, they made getting Pokémon, and hatching soooo much easier that it didn’t scare me from trying to get good at online battling, lol I played in grade 10 highschool as well. Anyways now I have Pokémon I’ve had since 2013 that I still use in battle too this day online, against my brothers, friends, work buddies, so while it wasn’t the best game, it was the best game too battle and trade in, I honestly can’t forget the hype of getting a random trade/battle and then blowing up someone’s team with 5 Pokémon remaining, like I don’t remember having that much fun in battle in any other game.
Most of the points you make are valid... but could be said of other older generations as well. I personally had a harder time playing platinum, it felt so slow. Best pacing might be gen 1 and 5 I think. The worst things X and Y did in my opinion were the fact that virtually no one uses mega except Dianthea and Lysandre, and most gym battles are 4 pokémon max, The ice gym is even only 3 and he doesn't even have a freaking mega-abomasnow !
interesting!! gen four is VERY slow! i think i have so many good nostalgic feelings towards DPP because they were the first pokémon games i waited in line to buy, and i just enjoy Team Galatic a lot more. it is CRAZY the lack of mega evolutions in battles-it’s super disappointing too bc megas are my fav gimmick!!
@@partyarlie oh team Galactic has more charisma for sure ! But you also have a lot of grunts battle like you do in x and y I would think. I guess it would be interesting to compare and see if we are biased or if there really are more in one gen over another
DPPt never felt slow to me, i think it's just nocebo because everyone says it's slow so you get that impression but honestly it really isn't more slow than the other gens If anything the lack of running shoes in gens 1 and 2 and them being disabled indoors in gen 3 makes these kind of a pain to replay from time to time, but then again speedup exists on emulator. In terms of soul, content, balance, difficulity, game design and basically everything that matters gen 6 is way worse than the first 5 gens and it's only gotten worse since. To me XY is when pokemon stopped being good
Imo gen V was slow, especially toward the latter half of the game, (and the post game). The route>bridge>route sections overstayed their welcome for me. The bit between the 7th and 8th gym being the worst. But the segment between the 6th and 7th gym also drags. Gen 2 had the best pacing imo, but I realize a lot of people needed to grind, so maybe not so great in that capacity. As far as moving to new towns, incorporating story beats from old ones, and seeing how your actions affect the towns: Gen 2 is the gold standard for pacing imo. None of the routes feel too long, there aren’t a bunch of towns/ houses with nothing in them (looking at you Gen 3/4), and the caves/dungeons never overstay their welcome aside from maybe the radio tower. Most of the towns in Gen 2 you’ll visit twice, and the revisits always feel organic/elaborate on something foreshadowed on your first visit, which makes them feel more memorable than towns in later entries. I replayed Gen 2 recently, and while it gets a lot of hate lately, I don’t think there was much to dislike (aside from the lack of Pokemon variety). Truth is, every Pokemon game has egregiously slow sections. They usually backload them between the 6th gym and E4 (like the latter land portion/surfing sections in 3, the wintry part in 4, the routes and bridges in 5). In Gen 6 the slowest part was notably placed at the beginning of the game between the first two gyms (and it takes forever). Also worth noting is the victory roads in gens 3-6 are longer than those in 1/2. At the end of the day I’d say most of the classic Pokemon games would’ve benefited from shaving hours off their gameplay. The slower segments can easily be explained by hardware improvements allowing for quicker battles/inputs, so in order to compensate Gamefreak started artificially inflating the runtime of their games, mostly by making routes longer with more trainers and just adding more routes/towns in general. This problem is most evident after Gen 2, when we saw the biggest leap in processing speed.
@@VideoGuy232 The only time where grinding is a requirement in gen 2 is for Red, and even that can be avoided by using the box legends that will naturally be higher level than your team will be at this point, or even using items in battle, switch mode etc. "Level cap" nuzlockers do NOT understand how gens 1 and 2 were designed. Also i have to replay gen 3 but i don't think gen 4 has any city with nothing in it
The Friend Safari was awesome to shiny hunt in, and get hidden abilities. I used my Pokemon Y cartridge to do a LOT of nuzlockes. X/Y was such a quality of life upgrade (in its day), that I stopped playing the older games all together.
@@partyarlie If there was anything memorable about XY, it's that they were easy to shiny hunt in. Between the Friend Safari and Chain Fishing, most of my earliest shinies came from those gems.
The pacing in these games is certainly interesting but honestly, the gyms 1-2 section is one of the most memorable parts of the game to me when i think about it, only alongside the marshy swamp/pokeball factory section
I want to call x and y bad, but I can’t. They were the first pokemon games that I ever played and spent countless hours in the post game to get almost every legendary possible. I think the story could have been so much more, as looking back on it the villain was very obvious, but at least the main characters were so unique! If not in their personality, at least in their design
I watched this 4 months after the announcement of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and roughly 6 months after this video was posted on TH-cam and boy what a coincidence you played through gen 6 just before TPC/ Game Freak announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A! I gotta say, I believe that some of our questions about AZ and the Ultimate Weapon will be answered in the new Legends game. I have high expectations for this game since I started playing Pokémon in gen 6 so I hope they put a lotta time and effort into the upcoming game and make it a fun and unique experience like Arceus was. (Interesting fact about myself; X&Y and PLA are my favorite Pokémon games.)
I'll always remember this game, it's my childhood and one of my favorite games, Pokemon X was my first Pokemon game ever and it made me fell in love with it
The answer is no; gen 6 in general is right up there next to 3 imo. As a kid I always dreamed of 3D pokemon, especially 3D Hoenn. ORAS gave me literally everything I dreamed of playing as a kid. It matched what the OG Sapphire FELT LIKE in my head when I was little.
I was very reluctant to play X&Y games, but they ended up surprising me in a good way. I really liked the story, even though there are a few things that could improve, such as your rivals, Calem/Serena was kinda disappointing I was more shocked about Shauna's growth lol. And team Flare definitely lacked substance. But it was such a fun game to play overall ❤
Amazing video!! Can't imagine all the time it must've taken to collect all of this. I will always have a soft spot for X&Y--I was also in high school at the time and the whole squad got so competitive with these games. I've never engaged more with the deeper mechanics of Pokemon than I did in this generation. To this day I feel like one of Pokemon's biggest mistakes is skipping Pokemon Z! I know they pushed forward Sun and Moon because they wanted to capitalize on the 20th anniversary of Pokemon and the popularity of Pokemon GO, but I cant help but feel like it changed the trajectory of the franchise for the worse. And Kalos deserved to be more fully fleshed out! It has so many quirks and charms but it needed that 3rd entry to polish the rough edges more than any other game before it.
Despite their flaws, these games hold a special place in my heart and... These were my comfort games when I hit my darkest spot and cemented me as a Pokémon fan to this day.
I was 10 when it came out skipping all the dialogue, but I remember reading the part in team flare hideout where you pick one of the buttons to stop the machine and was devastated when the machine still went off 😅
OMG you picked the cutest outfits and hairstyles for this whole adventure. I think they shafted the male characters a tiny bit, especially for a place as fashion forward as the game is set in. And I don't want to get into the (objectively bad) decrease in player options from future games rant. But of all those things that would make me want to see a sequel/remake of this game all those options are the biggest one.
Great video, it’s a great feeling to run back through those ‘childhood’ games, even if sometimes they don’t exactly hit the same heights maybe they once did. I subscribed! Great channel. Super underrated!
Olympia is one of the coolest gym leaders ever, tho I honestly also respect Wulfric a bunch because to me he has the most memorable quotes of any gym leader.
That generation was the rebirth for me. Living in Japan, I had the privilege to play every Pokémon game, quite literally. Except they were in Japanese, a language I never quite learned. X&Y came out in English while I was just off HS and working, so I went all in on the events and special giveaways. I never thought I would be able to understand the game as I played, without a translator by my side.
Pokemon Y was my first game :) it holds a special place in my heart for that reason. That being said, it's really easy, except for a few challenging battles in the mid game. Unless you are nuzlocking it you won't get stuck anywhere
Pokémon Y was my first ever Pokémon game and have played through Sun, Ultra Sun, Let’s Go Eevee, Shield, Legends Arceus and Scarlet. Absolutely love this franchise.
I love this stream highlights and collected thoughts/overview video style! I hate that I can’t catch your streams as much anymore, so these are a perfect catch-up!
oh my god, i forgot how the AZ story went. the simple sentences really hit hard. “the man was given a tiny box” made me tear up, even now. i have such deep nostalgia for the story of XY, and the part about the war was always my favorite (i could take or leave team flare tbh). say what you will about this game, but when it hits, it HITS.
When this video came out and I saw it in my recommendation, I watched it thinking how fun 6th gen was. So I started a new game on Pokémon Y and beat it in a week. No regrets, those games still slap
X and Y have tremendous remake potential. I’m imagining an open-world Lumiose City with the complexity of a city from the Yakuza franchise with a bunch of branching alleyways and sidequests. The same could be said for Castelia City in Unova, but I’m much more excited about exploring a city based on Paris rather than New York.
Pokemon X/Y was amazing for me. Going from Black n White 2 to X/Y was a huge upgrade and it blew me away. i must've reset X/Y atleast a dozen times just so i could play through the game again.
Despite you breaking the nuzlocke rules many times (in this hardcore nuzlocke that was not a normal playthrough at all), I really enjoyed watching you experience this game again with this community! Video did a great job capturing the experience! (Also, glad you chose the best mega for this lol)
I love Pokémon X and Y so much oh my god.. Definitely in my top three favorite Pokémon games. Pokémon X wa style second Pokémon game I ever finished, so I have very fond memories of it. I believe it has a genuinely good story, even if it could’ve been executed better, and it has some amazing designs! It has some wasted potential, yeah, it’s definitely in need of a good remake, but I love it regardless. It means so much to me. Maybe I’m just a sucker for the modern Pokémon games.
I like the Implication of depending on the version. Your character and your friends could have been given a long lifespan and Lysandre would be unable to die under the rubble in X or got shortened in Y
I started playing X and Y in 2014 when I was 11. My favorite part about X and Y was getting to battle Serena every day in Kiloude City in the post game. I wish they could have given the other rivals more character development. You battle Calem and Serena many times throughout the story, while barely ever battling the other rivals. However it was exciting to battle them all again towards the end of the game. I'm excited about getting to play through the Kalos Region again once Pokemon Legends Z-A releases.
I'm still playing X to this day (mainly for the ribbons) but this game was peak for competitive battling. Reusable TMs and EV training is super quick compared to SV. O-Powers helping for breeding or leveling. Sure you can't max IV and level up Pokemon fast like in SV, but to EV train in the current game it takes a bit of time and resources. Mega Evolution will still be one of the funest mechanics for me and loved visiting old Pokemon with their new Mega Evolution forms. It was the first time they introduced a new mechanic into the game and went on to inspiring others (z-moves, dynamax, tera..). Seems like we've gone forward but also back in the new games. I rather plant and water berries to lower my EVs than playing mini games just for a chance at EV lowering items.
I got into pokemon just before X & Y released. I had to wait like 5 years to get my 1st part time job & a 3DS, pokemon alpha sapphire & pokemon X were the first things I bought with the money I earnt from it. Kalos games aren't even close to being the best pokemon games but they will always be my favourites
X and Y feel like a tech demo made to prove that mainline Pokémon can indeed work in 3D, especially because they were tossed aside almost immediately so Game Freak could work on Sun and Moon for the series’s 20th anniversary. What especially sucks about that is that the XYZ season of the anime showed what they could’ve done with a Pokémon Z, especially when Team Flare completely decimates Lumiose City and all of the trainers and Gym Leaders have to team up to stop Lysandre from using his Chespin-powered rock from destroying the world, and Zygarde has actual importance to the plot. Maybe we can get all that when they remake Gen 6 in 2036, but I’m not holding my breath.
I was also in high school when Pokemon X fist came out. Watching this reminded me how little I remember from playing this game. I liked getting my Gen 1 starter and I remember the Elite 4 building being pretty cool. Pokemon X wasn't my favorite game but I wouldn't mind going back to it.
Pokemon X came out when I was in 3rd grade. I remember my brother and I played X and Y together and would make sure the other was caught up so we could battle each other. I miss those days when we were both really into Pokemon
I love that you had the same experience with Mr Bonding that I did, because everyone I've ever talked to thought he was pretty cool, and I thought I was going insane for being lowkey creeped out by him as a kid.
Hey Arlie, your video inspired me to buy a used copy of Pokémon Y this weekend, starting with Froakie! My last adventure through Kalos was in Pokémon X on release in 2013 with Chespin, and I still have the same file which I have become so attached to. This new playthrough on my new cartridge feels like such a fresh experience after over 10 years. Really love your content! ❤
This was a really fun watch, especially since Pokemon Legends Z A was announced recently, we'll hopefully finally have most of the gaps filled in the newest game.
Iv’e replayed X/Y about a dozen times with no challange or purpose other than to enjoy the pacing and variety of the game again. There is still mons on my list to add to my team next time I play it
You had mentioned that you prefer it when you can get gym badges back to back.. I actually prefer the opposite! I remember I was really excited when there was a long gap between gyms one and two, and disappointed afterwards.
pokemon y was my first pokemon game my aunt got it for me in japan and it was so amazing to me, I understand there is a lack of postgame, but outside of that I really enjoy these games
First time viewer, and I really enjoyed seeing this playthrough, along with your entertaining commentary (guess that's why they call you Speaker, am i right?). Gen 6 was the last gen I played through before losing interest in the series, and this playthrough reminded me of how much I loved this game as a teen. Nowadays when I get the urge to play pokemon I always do Frontier stuff in E/Pt.
I didn't play these games much when they released, I was also in high school and had different priorities. I played Y all the way through in college one semester and loved it, very simple and cozy.
X & Y are my favorite Pokemon games. I had thousands of hours on my copy, built tons of competitive Pokemon, completed the 715 (maybe?) Pokemon Pokédex, got tons of shinies, got my perfect outfit. I love those games dearly. The music is incredible, I really enjoy the aesthetic and designs of the area. Anistar City is a particular standout for me in terms of design, I love how it looks at sundown.
i have consumed hundreds of hours of pokemon and has it been from playing? no, it has come from the gospel of partyarlie. do YOU understand how to shiny hunt poke radar or whatever? NEITHER DO I !! however, watching arlie play it (and explain it) is very enigmatic to watch!! (girly pop if ur reading this im hiding this in here like a secret message but: these comments are wild) we love the energy, charisma, humor that she brings to the genre. this video fkkn rocks !!! watch her on twitch too the streams are fun !!!
Pokemon xy is one of my most favourite games....it provided me with two amazing things...one the megas and other the fairy type which became my most favourite pokemon type.
I love X/Y. They were my first pokemon games (Xerneas my beloved) and im fully aware of their problems but at the same time i can see where they came from. Gen 6 was the first fully 3d pokemon game so most of the focus went to the 3dness. The way towns were designed, trainer customization, all the (that the time) brand new 3d pokemon models and of course the new fairy type . So other things, like difficultly got pushed to the side for all the new features and looks. We can only hope that when gen 6 gets a remake theyll buff everything since those once new things aren't new anymore and the focus and go back to game play.
One of the things I do to keep the gen 6 and beyond Pokémon games challenging and interesting (with the broken xp share turned on) is train a team of 12 instead of 6 where the 6 lowest leveled in my team are always party. I find this keeps you closer in level with in game trainers, allows you to experiment with new Pokémon, and your party will often not be perfectly balanced since its dependent on who your lowest levelled Pokémon are so that helps make some battles more interesting.
A fantastic look back at the Gen 6 games, there's a lot that I have nostalgia glasses on for and it's almost weird to see so much that I am misremembering. Gutted I missed this live though.
The number of Pokémon you are just given by this game is insane. 2 starters, that one Farfetch'd you can trade for in the first gym town, a Lucario, a Lapras, a prehistoric Pokémon from the fossil, and the Legendary that the plot requires you to catch. Your whole party could basically be entirely curated by the game.

There’s a lot of little things you can do that you couldn’t do in other games like rollerskating, customizing your character, customizable Pokémon (Furfrou mostly), full friend group (instead of 1-2 rivals), mega evolution, and probably more things I can’t remember at this moment. I think the saddest thing about this game is that Pokémon Z was scrapped cause it probably would have made the game feel complete.
i think gen 6 was more about the transition to 3d/the post-game experience. it got a lot of people into the series, and with all of the new shiny-hunting/online features, it honestly was a p good experience at the time
Nah it was a big step down from the previous games
Yeah as someone who played gen 6 obsessively at the time it was all about the post game. Being the first game stepping into a new era for pokemon and being the first for the 3ds made it immensely popular in my friend group despite all the problems people have with it now.
@@Lucarioguild7 what post game exactly? May I ask which was your first Pokemon game?
@@Philbyyyy I guess post game isn't entirely accurate it was all shiny hunting and playing vgc. My First game was blue but the first game I knew how to do more than brute force through the game with Charizard was Diamond lol.
@@Lucarioguild7 I agree but I wouldn't classify that as "postgame". Usually that term is relegated to exclusive features like Battle Frontier and what not. Although I think X&Y are by far the worst Pokemon games looking at it from the perspective of multiplayers was and still is great at least until 3DS servers go down.
It’s a shame X&Y never got a follow up game. With that, X&Y would have felt a lot more complete. Great video, keep it up 👍🏻
I mean they just did a remake of pearl and diamond so it’s possible
@@speedscampi5217 A remake, not a sequel. Very different things.
@@WretchedRedoran let's be real, it wasn't a remake, it was a remaster, had it been a remake, maybe they could've actually made it better than the originals, like platinum was, and not just a copy and paste of diamond and pearl on a different generations' hardware

Well, well, well...
I wonder if the devs knew what a Gurkin was
Well this playthrough just became a whole lot more relevant.
This game *really* needed a third version. XY feel so incomplete; Pokemon Z would have fixed that. Instead we got a Zygarde collection sidequest in Sun/Moon.
i actually can't believe pokemon z is real
@@bananaaloaf It seems to just be Legends Arceus 2 instead of a proper Kalos redo, but I'm hopeful.
@@bananaaloaf Legends: Z-A*
Bro if you think zygarde got ignored in gen 6, she didn't even mention how reshiram and zekrom have more lore then xerneas and yveltal 😅
Who’s gonna tell ‘em-
If you were a sophomore in high school when Gen 6 came out then I’m about 3 years younger than you.
I did enjoy Legends Arceus and Scarlet / Violet, so I’m still a fan of the series, but there was definitely a lull in my enjoyment from 2016 to 2021
Idk. I was 10 when i got Y. It was still pretty cool tho me, although I only played Hgss and black n white (1 and 2)
Pokemon-wise, X is actually one my favorites.
Totally agree with you on Olympia being the better eighth gym badge. She always gave more of a fight and her gym was an amazing theme in my opinion.
Plus hot psychic mama
All gym leaders after korrina should have had a mega in their team imo
@@aganhim I personally agree more with MandjTV who said he thought after you stop Lysandere, every important boss battle, should have had a mega. So the final gym, probably the last rival fight pre-post game and the E4.
@@TheMS991 I agree ! I think there could be even more but at the very least 8th badge + the E4 and champion would have been great
@@aganhim I think if they'd had spread the whole ending flare plot a bit more they could have given the admins a mega as well.
Lysandre really just said "I've come to make an announcement."
It's a thing from the Sonic fandub.

I feel like it’s easy to take for granted how groundbreaking gen 6 was but it was amazing at the time
not really
@lloydirving6209 it was very amazing at the time. Just had to be there.
@@markspc1285 the nostalgia is crazy but seeing Pokémon in that level of 3D felt overwhelming and skating is one of the best quality of life additions to Pokémon so much speed and you can hop on and off so easily while still fitting in gaps
@@markspc1285 yeah, I was there. I bought Y on release day and was very disappointed.
@@markspc1285 It was very bland, especially after gen 5
Omg X3 literally felt the same Peto vibes from Mr. Bonding. I find it even funnier you can always find him in a hotel room alone.
I guess it would be interesting to compare and see if we are biased or if there really are more in one gen over another
DPPt never felt slow to me, i think it's just nocebo because everyone says it's slow so you get that impression but honestly it really isn't more slow than the other gens
If anything the lack of running shoes in gens 1 and 2 and them being disabled indoors in gen 3 makes these kind of a pain to replay from time to time, but then again speedup exists on emulator.
X/Y was such a quality of life upgrade (in its day), that I stopped playing the older games all together.

the banger of a song that plays at the pokeball factory!!!! that’s what makes that place memorable for me, haha
Can we also point out the way Fletchling is fly in the characters bedroom, is exactly the same way we are introduced to Serena in the tv series
Team flare was pretty badass in the anime honestly
Recommended after the announcement how convenient lol
It makes since because Google & TH-cam are owned by the same company that when something is searched a lot youtube will push that content on to people
This game had great music. That’s what I remember most about X and Y
*Nervous laughter*
Despite their flaws, these games hold a special place in my heart and... These were my comfort games when I hit my darkest spot and cemented me as a Pokémon fan to this day.
I definitely thought these games needed to bake a bit more but for what we got gen 6 was pretty good, this playthrough was so fun to watch!
X and Y are TEN years old already??? I still consider Gen 5 onward the "new games" (given Black & White was the soft reboot of the franchise).
i consider gen 1-6 old 7-9 modern cuz 1-6 are on that imaginative grid-style still while 7-9 are much more grand
But of all those things that would make me want to see a sequel/remake of this game all those options are the biggest one.
i love fairy pokemon so I've been thinking of playing Gen 6 for the first time! thank you for this video and your honest take! it was awesome!
Man, I essentially grew up with this game (along with some others ofc). It was cool to see someone going through the game again.
This was the first video of yours that I ever saw and I've been following you ever since. Love you Arlie!
"I replayed Pokemon X 10 years later" 10 years..? Good god that makes me feel old.
I loved Pokemon Y but the game did feel very easy.
I also was a sophomore in high school when the game came out, I mainly played it alot because I had alot of friends playing it too.
X and Y the games I have played the most with over 1,000 hours and with ORAS I loved Gen 6 games ❤️
i dont know if im just weird or its nostalgia but pokemon x is my favorite out of all the pokemon games i have played.
Pokemon X/Y was amazing for me. Going from Black n White 2 to X/Y was a huge upgrade and it blew me away. i must've reset X/Y atleast a dozen times just so i could play through the game again.
I was thinking on replaying this game, I haven't touch it since 2016, perfect timing thank you Arlie!!!
Hey Arlie, I am a big fan of your videos but this one was my favourite! I love the retrospective style content, keep it coming!
I can definitely see the faults in X and Y but it is the series that got me back into Pokemon when I quit after ruby and saphire
Every time mr bonding showed up had me laughing so much 🤣
It's so crazy to think that the game I have so much nostalgia connected to means nothing to other people. This is my absolute favorite game
with the grunts thing, how you described them is exactly how the team rocket grunts in the Johto part of HGSS to me
Gen 6 was the first time i played pokemon when i was 8, so the nostalgia is big on this one.
This is my first video of yours, and I’m glad I came across it. You’re hilarious 😂 subbed for more!
Sun and moon were pokemon Z. They had the Zygarde cells, they had Z moves, how was it not pokemon Z 🤣
"I will give you a tiny box" should be up there with "I, Garland, will knock you down!"
Sees Pokémon Legends Z-A: “I guess this aged like fine French/Kalosian wine.”

Pokemon xy is one of my most favourite games....it provided me with two amazing things...one the megas and other the fairy type which became my most favourite pokemon type.
best part about this game was the journey from the 1st gym to the second gym. After that it felt like there wasnt enough to do between gyms.
Honestly one of my favorite Pokemon games! It's one of the most memorable for me I love it!
She predicted the pokemon presents lol
A fantastic look back at the Gen 6 games, there's a lot that I have nostalgia glasses on for and it's almost weird to see so much that I am misremembering. Gutted I missed this live though.
The number of Pokémon you are just given by this game is insane. 2 starters, that one Farfetch'd you can trade for in the first gym town, a Lucario, a Lapras, a prehistoric Pokémon from the fossil, and the Legendary that the plot requires you to catch. Your whole party could basically be entirely curated by the game.
