They are safer than the equivalent longswords but not 100%. They do have some sort of stiff inner layer. I don't think it's a problem with just a t-shirt on but a really powerful thrust might hurt. Cutting isn't a problem at all, though.

Are these boffers safe to thrust with? Training with very little gear is quite nice, since it lowers the bar for beginners to get into sparring.
