Hey everyone, late to the party here. I haven't really written much after Ramlord released or talked to the community about feedback, creating dialogs. There was a lot of me that was buried underneath this project; the writing alone took about a year, followed by another of incredibly arduous and complex development processes. This is my final video game mod/project, having been doing mods of roughly this style, polish and self-seriousness for ten years now. It was hard to get a work flow going, so many people came and left, but a singular vision and drive had to be kept as sort of our mantra -- the atmosphere, and the story, above all else. We must execute that flawlessly, even if the puzzle, monster, game implementation is troubled or rocky. This post isn't about the development though, it's about the story. I'd love to hear what you guys thought of its execution, the voice actors, and so on. Given that the screenplay is the forefront of Shadow of the Ramlord, I thought I'd reach out to talk about it for a bit on here. Thank you for streaming a wonderful playthrough on here, and now I'll fire down the comments tree and answer any questions or comments I see!
The story was great, the voice acting was even greater, the atmosphere incredible. But it felt like i didn't get much out of it, i mean, i think it should've been longer, or have a sequel to it, and even though the voice acting was great, it was really slow, i remember waiting for so much time for a line to finish.
I know I'm 3 years later to this, but I thought I'd drop my input anyway... I agree with most of what has been said. The voice acting was amazing, the grammar and use of language was superb, and the atmosphere on point. However, I was a bit disappointed with the story, and how rushed it felt about halfway through. (Keep in mind that I haven't actually played the game, only seen this video, so it's possible the author might have skipped pages containing more story). The game kept hinting at Emilia being more than a just a victim, but that never really went anywhere. Why does the MC keeps suggesting she's a liar and manipulator? And who was that being in the library with her voice, then? Our MC was resurrected on account of this "lord", who wished to see us, but that didn't amount to much, given Anton died kind of abruptly, followed by Emilia and the baby (whom I guess was supposed to be this being's reincarnation?), turning this "lord" into nothing more than a minute background presence that didn't even had time to develop. And what was that about the Traveler, who hugged a woman's severed arm? Either I'm missing something, or the game has loose ends that didn't led anywhere, making the story seem rushed and incomplete. That's just my take on it though.

Married a Baron against her will, who was a Necromancer, who got her pregnant, brought her back from the dead, and chained her in a crypt? Yikes. But as being a villain? Also yes, because she is. She knew how much trouble she was in when she smuggled out the letter, which reached Johan via the Witchfinders. Canonically, they're a sect of the Church which exists as if demons or physical horrors were real in our world. Matthew Hopkins, but it's real, kind of thing. She knew she was pregnant with the avatar of the Ramlord before she unalived herself (sorry, following censors here.) when she sent out the letter. We get to read it in the third map, the Ballroom, before the false bookcase. Johan has a distrust for Emilia because the narrative is a post mortem, he's already at the end of his rope when he's talking to the player, and thus Emilia. He knew, when we hear his voice lines, that she was throwing a hail mary to get Anton killed even if it meant the death of a Witchfinder and innocent people. That's why our main character is a little pissed at her. As for who actually talked to him in the library, it was her! She just kept him on a leash until the bitter end. She did whatever it cost, morally and ethically, to eradicate this horror from the earth. You've got all of that right, and the final confrontation with Anton is my least favorite part of the project. I simply ran out of development time, and by the stages of the final three maps, only two of the original thirteen developers remained. I had to wrap it up, and staring at a rock while exposition got dumped was the only solution. Ah well. The reason he gets crushed by rocks is because he tortures the man who smuggled out her letter, and threatens Emilia. The Ramlord was never, in any draft, or design, or callback, going to appear. It is simply a title, mentioned twice in the whole story, to attribute an authority to the madness of the story. This was a creative liberty taken, but in essence, I wanted players to expect a deity the whole time and never get one. The Travelers Tale probably deserves another comment to save this from being a novel. It is a sister story, though, and is supposed to re-frame the story up until that point for anyone who wasn't following. Someone knew Anton was a Necromancer and called him out, basically.
It is amazing how us, still at 2019, has been blessed with such amazing custom story. I hope amnesia-community never dies. And thanks for the walkthrough :)

I presented some concepts, but it was my friend who turned them into some amazingly looking maps, as he's a damn skilled designer. I wouldn't consider this even an alpha stage. This was meant to be developed more into something more complex and generous-looking. PS. Yes, it was meant to have a shit ton of puzzles, The Great Work style. :p

There was a short time when I decided to venture into the deepest depths of the Frictional Games' forum and darkest corners of Mod DB just to find some unusual, extraordinary, unique custom stories and show them, but then decided to return to recording the most recent ones, as they're the hottest titles at the time of their release and most actively searched for. Ramlord is also pretty recent, so it wasn't too difficult to find it. *^^*
i dunno if I ever told you this but you inspired me to get SOMA on the xbox. I always played on safe mode, but the horror was still good. Although this reminds me of when I trapped akers in a room only for him to scare me in the hallway. Never stop amnesiapuzzles. I need you in the hard times when school arrives at the end of the month.

@@BogudarzBro I’m so annoyed of everyone talking about the great work like it’s better than the base game. there are many custom stories that are better, I know because I played and enjoyed them, meanwhile the great work has a slow ass start with 4 puzzles that you have to search up on TH-cam.
What was the use of the holy water and the salt? At the end you still have the tome left to collect and can't complete the ritual. Did I miss something or the story was meant to end with you losing? Also, what was the meaning of that last letter? the one titled the traveler
The Holy Water and Salt was going to be used as a last resort method from Johan to destroy the manor by defanging Anton. He wanted to do a cleansing ritual to banish the restless undead -- in essence, flip the switch off on the Necromancer's main strength before a final confrontation later on. We try to do this, but just because we can't complete it doesn't mean we failed. Before it is completed, we hear Anton interrogate someone and find out that Emilia is the one who betrayed him and sent out the letter for outside help. Anton feels wholly betrayed, screams, and says he'll kill Emilia who has been kept prisoner underneath the catacombs, for reasons I won't spoil here. The last part happens in audio ques only, but there is a cave-in and crash, and a subsequent ethereal laughter, denoting an outside force has struck down Anton along the way. Johan pursues the immediate concern, being a man of his vocation, and follows the trail of a potentially wounded Anton.
I understand why you rather stop making walkthrough videos they are not fun to make at all. But still i'm not saying you should abandon your channel, I mean if you ever want to do something like playing Amnesia/SOMA mod or a completely different game not as a walkthrough but as a gameplay/let's-play without having to remember everything, and just want to record a first time playing video so you yourself can enjoy playing the mod, It also doesn't has to be in a one video you can make a series of episodes of whatever you want to play, no need stress. If you just don't like making videos anymore or want to take a long break or simply need to focus on important stuff in your life I guess we can't convince you. Just saying if you ever want to make another gameplay video do it in a way you yourself enjoy playing, after all that is the most important thing about making videos. I hope my comment helped somehow...

I'm not like ABANDONING THE CHANNEL FOREVA, AND NEVA COMIN BACK haha, I'm still here, just re-prioritised some values Honestly, only after 3 months of absence from recording, making videos, downloading and playing the mods one by one just for the purpose of video making, I thought about (maybe!) recording sth again. I just allowed myself some time to breathe and it helped, helped me get this positive attitude again. I'm thinking I would like to record Penumbra: Prisoner of Fate, once it's released. Hopefully it gets released in 2019. But either way, I'm still busy. I obviously wanted to make some relaxed gameplay/let's play, but this would be a creator-focused content and I'm not sure many ppl would like it (not to mention that I don't know if I would DELIVER), since I originally created the channel for the no commentary, information-dense content and ppl subscribed for it. I appreciate you encouraging me to try other things and being open to other video formats, it's very supportive, thanks. ☺ And yeah, the one-video format is convenient for viewers, I choose to do it too, I'm not really fond of making episodes With all that said, thank you for making this comment and I appreciate you took your time to write it.
