I've no idea if Sakarnen was hinted at in the notes or a Sanderson creation, but my first read I felt that there had to be a cup sa'angreal just to give that echo with san greal, the Holy Grail. What makes me sad, though, if they're going to simplify the Choedan Kal into a single sa'angreal: it removes a chance for some fun lore around its creation and the link to Lews' desperation at the end, and also Tremalking. I really want To Make an Anchor Weep. Personally, I've been hoping they would bring the River of Souls content into the show, with maybe 1 episode early S7 focusing on that, ending with the cave (but not finishing it), and never see Demandred again (until...) bolstered by other Forsaken saying they've seen nothing of him recently and he may have been taken off the board. I know it would be stupid expensive, an entire country and culture built for basically 1 episode, so I won't hold my breath, but if they're trying to make the Forsaken more competent and formidable it would be some good story to have.
For Sakarnen, I can provide a possible answer: I got to speak to Brandon for over an hour back before ToM was released, and due to my dedication to Demandred, it was all about him. When I discussed the bit in aCoS when Liah goes missing in Shadar Logoth, and LTT starts ranting about Demandred, Rand asks him if there is a connection between Demandred and Shadar Logoth and never gets an answer. I told Brandon my theory: Demandred went to Sindhol (the Aelfinn/Eelfinn realm) to find a way to surpass LTT, because he was tired of the man who was supposed to have been his friend (who rubbed his nose in EVERYTHING he could (Rand's thoughts in aMoL about how Demandred SHOULD have been a hero, back me up on this part!) for over 400 years!!) taking away anything he tried to do. While there, he asked for a way to stop the Shadow. Now, we know from Moiraine that anything asked of the Snakes that has to do with the Shadow usually rebounds on the asker. Brandon also acknowledged my thoughts that Mordeth had also gone to Sindhol through the redstone doorframe, and became distorted in the process, bringing the evil that warped Aridhol with him. Now, Barid Bel Medar, at the time he went, had asked for a solution he could use to end the Shadow. Remember: (this is also backed by Rand in aMoL) Barid Bel was the one who discovered the ancient texts about war and decifered them, producing things like the use of swords and the forms for fighting with them (yeah, he was the one who gave the world "Heron Wading in the Rushes", which was used by Lan before "Sheathing the Sword"...) I can say, almost 100% certainty, that Sakarnen was what was given to him (hence it being attuned to him since, in the AoL, ter'angreal and angreal existed that were made for use by specific individuals (I know in the books there are a few pieces that the Wondergirls encounter that seem "made" for a specific person)), much in the same way Mat received his Ashendarei. Once Demandred turned to the Shadow, it was taken from him in some way, and it was "broken" so it couldn't be used (thus his questing in RoS to find the pieces once he escaped from the Bore). So, in response to your comment about it being "cursed" in some way, it's most likely because it was something corrupted by the Finn before given to Barid Bel.

Great video Jon. You need to change your intro script about what is your channel. It is not WoT all the time anymore. You are reviewing some non WoT books. At least I hope you will still occasionally review non WoT books. I liked the review you did for a Court of Roses and Thorns.
Funny. I doubt that thought crossed their mind. It was probably more like, "There are too many things, let's combine these two. This one is smaller, let's just use it for both things (or all three)."
I almost fell off my chair when you said spoilers from Rivers of Souls. I hope the associated Sa'angrael is mentioned or seen in a scene where Rand sees through the eyes of his ancestors. I do not want that object to be found in Rhuidian. If they find it in Rhuidian, I think that means the show intends to not include any significant mention of Shara and any one who is from Shara or is pretending to be from Shara. Edited once I finished the video. It looks like the show will ignore Shara entirely and Demandred will appear at the Last Battle with another huge army of Trollocs and Dreadlords instead of with Sharans. I also think he will have a not so powerful angrael he finds but not what he uses in the books. End result is the same, just using different way to get there.
Yes, he kept it to himself until he revealed it to Nyneave. Lanfear knew he had them. My concern is they may take another great moment away from Rand. Fingers crossed I am wrong.
@@ampictish8052 If this is what they're doing, I feel like a lot of the things they're giving to Moiraine is probably because when she, ahem, disappears, it'll force Rand to "not rely on her help and knowledge". At least that's my hope for these changes... I'm still hoping he'll get plenty moments this season. Especially the rain
So Moiraine uses a male sa'angreal that she never touched in the books and that's the replacement for the Choedan Kal that Moiraine also never touched? Yikes.
I wasn't listening that closely, but I doubt that's what was meant. There was a male and female version of the Choedan Kal and their access keys. I don't remember her finding them in the books though, but maybe I just glossed over it since the place was littered with artifacts and I didn't piece together what it was.
Great video, they have to change sa angreal, hmm. The last battle was won by the Darkfriends, Matt cannot be affected, the main strategy was to destroy as much of the good guys in a killing field.
Well... if Moiraine is going to cleanse the taint... Is she gonna fight & win the LB too..???... I don't wanna turn into a bookcloak...but....smh.....This is turning out well....I guess Rhuidean will be something different....*sad*..... Maybe Rand wont even have to go to Rhuidean.....
I hate this show so much. They have to take everything away from everyone and give it to Egwene and Moraine. Rand finds them in the books, he purposely tries to hide the female one from Lanfear. They are called access keys.
Rafe and the writers have done a great job with fleshing out the villains and actually made them nearly likable. I’m looking forward to another great season.
So, they have a storyline that's complete and well established yet they feel the need to change it again? Just another chance to push an agenda? If you're going to do the story, do the story. If you want to push an agenda, write your own friggin story and push your agenda. I want the Wheel of Time and the dragon reborn, not Moraine and the other companions of the Dragon Reborn that aren't men
Please stop covering this abomination. Continued coverage encourages them to continue. I don't want them to complete the entire remake. It's terrible. Please just cease.
Don't mind the change. My hope of hopes is that the 3rd season does so well that causes budgets to increase and multiple seasons are approved....AAAAANNNND, we get an ending that befits the magnitude that book 14 is. I just don't want cancelation or a weak/rushed end to the show
to be fair... i could care less about the show; I gave up on it ... its just not watchable let alone enjoyable. I hope in 5 or 10 years someone else gets a shot at making the show maybe in anime form.
100% with you. That's why I'm crossing my fingers for this abomination to be canceled as soon as possible, hopefully after season 3. The sooner it's canceled the better the chances for a second attempt to adapt it by actual competent people. I'm also hoping for an animated adaptation as I think an acceptable live action adaptation may just not be feasible. I'm thinking some style along the lines of Arcane would be great.
I personally hope they can complete it, because it'd be nice to have a version of the story complete in a visual form even if it's inferior. It won't ever be as good as the books and I also don't think it's logistically possible to make a version, that's not animated, as good as the books. I wouldn't hold out hope about that someone else getting a shot in 5-10 years. IWoT are fucking useless parasites that I wouldn't trust to make any sensible decisions regarding the rights.

Didn’t Rand find the choedan kal access keys and hide them in the wall of his room in Rudien?? I don’t remember Moraine even knowing about?!
Using a sword and a cup for the cleansing would work - agree the name Choedan Kal is awkward - don't think they are specifically needed.
Did miss a SPOILER warning for season. 3!!!!!😢
The Gospel of Mark is essentially the Shadow Rising
I've read. I like streamlining that doesn't lose storyline, so I'm good.
Well... if Moiraine is going to cleanse the taint...
Well, if we can't get the fin, a battle for control of such a sa'angreal that poofs them both seems possible. (I will still miss the fin)
So, they have a storyline that's complete and well established yet they feel the need to change it again? Just another chance to push an agenda? If you're going to do the story, do the story. If you want to push an agenda, write your own friggin story and push your agenda. I want the Wheel of Time and the dragon reborn, not Moraine and the other companions of the Dragon Reborn that aren't men
Kind of silly to give spoiler warnings for something that has been out since 15 January 1990
Please stop covering this abomination. Continued coverage encourages them to continue. I don't want them to complete the entire remake. It's terrible. Please just cease.
This shitshow is still not cancelled? Hopefully season 3 will be the last 🤞
Don't mind the change. My hope of hopes is that the 3rd season does so well that causes budgets to increase and multiple seasons are approved....AAAAANNNND, we get an ending that befits the magnitude that book 14 is. I just don't want cancelation or a weak/rushed end to the show
No one cares
Uh, shut up?
I have no hope for this show. Truly awful. Even Sanderson hates it.
to be fair... i could care less about the show; I gave up on it ... its just not watchable let alone enjoyable.
Ok guys then we know.
