2. By Yourself (A Visual Poem)

sometimes I just like to sit on my own
completely by myself
where there's no one around
just me and my thoughts
i think its important to be able to just be by yourself sometimes
it's an art that I think is often overlooked
I mean when was the last time you were truly alone
no phone
no tv
no friends
no family
just you…
just you and your thoughts….
if you can learn to know & be happy with yourself on the inside,
the outside takes care of itself,
and you’ll feel yourself grow & blossom,
into your true self,
this all comes from a place of inner understanding & acknowledgement,
acknowledgement of who you are,
acknowledgement of what you like,
acknowledgement of where you want to be,
acknowledgement of why you do the things you do,
but you need to get to know yourself to achieve this,
its can’t just happen over night,
listening to your heart is a great start,
it’ll guide you true on most things you’ll do,
take the time to enjoy your own company,
forget about the money,
forget about the career,
forget about the tv show you watch every day of the year,
those things will still be waiting for you,
theres no need to rush your life away,
you only get one chance at each day,
Unfortunately though in todays culture we don’t really give ourselves time to just be,
though tv, social media and youtube we are never truly alone,
there is always something to cure the boredom of being in your own head,
when your working
its all running around trying to get things done
in the fastest and most efficient time possible
thats just simply not natural
and while it may be fun and you may enjoy it
we’ve all got things we’ve desired,
so I’m not saying chasing your goals isn’t somthing to be admired,
and no one should be faulted for trying there hardest to get to were they want to be,
but if you spend your whole life running,
eventually you’ll forget how to walk,
and the beauty of walking is its slow and peaceful
it allows you to take in all the beauty that life has to offer along the way
its allows you to truly feel and be in the moment
and at the end of the day you still get to the same place
you end up exactly where you would have gotten to running
the only difference is it took you a little bit longer
so my solution is baby steps,
stop running…
start walking….
even if it just a little bit more very day,
let it take over you and embrace a new way,
and slowly everyday you’ll be more relaxed and free
the rush will cease and you can let yourself just be
you’ll use you time to express creatively
remember its your life,
you can make of it what you want to be.

The visuals in this video were amazing. I wish I could sit there for a bit and just be for awhile. My favorite line in this piece would have to be "Unfortunately though in todays culture we don’t really give ourselves time to just be". That felt very similar to something I wrote as well.
