Fane A60 - High(ish) powered Alnico 12"

  • Fane have made some great speakers over the years and here is a good example... The A60 is a relatively modern release from Fane, but a little bit of an unsung hero.
Alnico speakers have traditionally been associated with lower powered speakers, making them unsuitable for a lot of different styles but with the A60 being rated at 60 watts, it is quite acceptable to use it, by itself in a 1x12.
As always we love to hear what you think, any experience with these speakers or any suggestion.

Sweet sounding cab with your Strat, sounded pretty good with the Les Pail too. Nice looking cab too.

It's a great amp... as soon as I'd been shown how to use it I loved it.

The wooly sound reminded me of the old Orange Matamps. Sounded cool in it’s own way.

Got a couple old axa 100's. Love em . Used in a sealed big deep cab. It's a 2x12 but could've been a 4x12. Now I've got one in a repro 1x12 60's tone ring cab. Sound on mild to medium breakup with a hot rodded high power tweed is glorious. Just gotta get a really sweet reverb to run in the loop.
Anyway, the old axa 100's sound dynamite in the above scenario.

That's really cool, sounds like a fun rig.

I think Fane could potentially bring the AXA back. I heard they may be reproducing Crescendos. The closest I got to AXA’s were Weber’s copy but even that’s discontinued now too.

They do have those 90watt 12's. I'm not sure on them because i just use the old axa blues. They work great. I'm sure the new ones are cool, just have no idea how they compare to the old blues.

@@Phlooredcoincidence brought me back here but Fane is supplying AXA12's exclusively to one UK store. Though I'm sure that these are B stocks.

I have an AXA 10 in my rivera clubster. To me the best 10 ever, I'd take it any day over gold 10

Great cleans with the start, but, bit overly bright on the les paul though? Unless my ears are knackered :D

Don't let the tone knobs on a Les Paul scare you, they don't always need to be on 10. ;)

Man, what a great sounding speaker. Would prefer this or the alnico gold?

I'm a fane speaker user and this speaker is very different to the gold. Not as mid-focused or punchy. Instead you get a certain sparkling open quality to the sound. Better for me (who plays fender pretty clean), but if you a rock guy go for the gold.

I think Alexander below probably has it there. That said, I do quite like a gold with a strat, but that is purely as a listener. I think with these kind of speakers there is something for everyone in there, no rights or wrongs. It has been a while since I have played a Fane alnico but I do remember being really pleased everytime I did.

I just hate the LP Studio

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Really? I love it, the pickups are possibly a little darker than I like on a les paul but its a really solid guitar.

@@ZillaCabs sorry I had one. If you get one I recommend a used Standard

I prefer standards too but the studio is a good model for someone that just wants a bare bones Les Paul.
