    As far as I searched, your TEC series posted is the best one - by far - explaining in a clear and objective way the real behavior of TEC elements, what key parameters mean and their interrelationships. I know how challenging is to demystify a technical subject when there are some many oversimplifications and half-trues posted in the Internet. Congratulations for such fine job! 👍👍👍

    Wow. I was thinking this was a great idea until I realized the efficiency. Thanks for bringing actual science into this. I can stop wasting time looking up parts.

      well that could be true .. id suggest you watch my Peltier Efficiency videos first.. Cos 99% of the people get it wrong when it comes to TEC Efficiency

    I have one question for you, do you have the equation for calculate the values I mean don't use the software, I want to understand from where the values comes. I appreciate if you have that equations

    how do you determine the heatsink and CFM needed for a particular TEC application?

  • @MeironEgger

    Thanks for the detailed explanation. THUMBS UP!!!
    So you actually say that using, let's say, 20v peltier device, and applying 24v to it will get better results?

    I went on to watch them. Had them on in the back ground while doing work though and got quite a bit confused. Especially with the cliffhanger 100%+ calculated efficiency. Etc. need to rewatch when i can devote more attention. For now I am thinking of trying something else. I was initially thinking 2 closed circuits of fluid with thermocouples between two aluminum cooler plates. (The kind that eBay is literally bathing in)

    What if you're using the peltier for heating though? I'm struggling to find any answers on this. I want to heat half a liter of water to 100 C and I need to figure out how much power it will take to do so. An example would be a room temperature room for the cold side, and near maximum operating temperature on the hot side. I will be using a thermoregulator to safely heat the water without damaging the peltier.

    I would like to ask you a question. Where did you find the formulas you used to make the calculations in your program. I am very interested in understanding these formulas, it would be helpful if you could help me with that information.

    Thanks for the videos, by far the best information out there.
    One question, would it be possible to control the plate in order to have a continuous temperature of about 4°C on the cold side and 40°C on the hot side? heat load 0

    Is it wise to drive a Peltier at it's rated Vmax or maybe 2/3 or 3/4 to increase longevity? I've been told that driving them at a lower voltage than they're rated at actually increases efficiency but the trade off is obviously lowered cooling output.

      Three years late, and I am here trying to learn, but I would say that since they are a P/N junction, we can probably compare wear and tear to a transistor. Or most solid state components. More current = more heat = more wear. Less current = Less heat = less wear. I am not an expert, but the P/N junction similarities tell me that there must be some similarities in that. How they wear out with ON/OFF or leaving it ON, I don't know yet. Would love to hear your take, if you have learned more in the years that have passed. Happy tinkering.

    • @phil955i
      @phil955i ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Inertia888 I'm still dabbling 🙂 What I found was that driving them at 2/3rds of their rated Vmax gave no discernible drop in cooling performance & the heat dissipated from the hot side was also much less. So I'd imagine that would much improve longevity too.

    I have a good question,
    Peltier 24v 8,8A can i cool a fridge with the volume of 0.064m^3? from Ti = 30 to Tf = 15, and anything in between?

    @17:28 why or how does the amount of head moved remain at 100 watts? As the input voltage % decreases so should the amount of heat that is moved. Heat moved does NOT remain constant....

    • @Ultrasonictwo
      @Ultrasonictwo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      heat moved it constant cos that is what was specified in the heat load box ... this is assuming that the load like a CPU outputs a constant heat load of 100watts.. this is irrelevant of what input power you apply to a TEC OR even if you use a TEC at all

    This would of made more sense if you based this on a tec1-12706 12v/5a 60w as these are more commonly used VS a huge current version like the one you show.. But interesting

  • @AstroHuff9990
    @AstroHuff9990 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know it's been awhile since you've posted this but I hope you're still around. I'm a bit confused on the physics as to why when the TEC hits 60 delta T, it's moving no energy. I'm telling myself, well there's still energy to be moved on the cold side, so why isnt it being moved? Is it more akin to how a refrigeration cycle transfers less heat from a cold area, because the ambient cold side conditions are approaching the coolant temperatures? So efficiency approaches zero. Or is this becuase the rather large delta T is actually trying to conductively transfer heat backwards/against the TEC and this 60 delta T is the net zero point?
    Thanks!

    • @Ultrasonictwo
      @Ultrasonictwo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When dTmax is achieved there is no energy to be moved from the cold side because that is achieved in a vacuum where there is no energy. However in the real world there will always be some load to the cold side so dTmax is never realistically achieved. .. Does this help ?

    Please i have this question
    I want to cool an electronic Aluminium Box of size 10cm x10cm x10cm to -20 deg C
    I plan to use a 10mm thick copper surface plate of size 127mm x 152 mm to be attached to the cold surface of the peltier element and cool it using water cooling with a heat sink of 15mm thick , having a thermal resistance of 0.05 degc /W
    Please i want to ask how many peltier element can be able to cool my electronic aluminum box to -20 deg c
    Any guidelines and direction would be highly appreciate

    • @Ultrasonictwo
      @Ultrasonictwo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are asking the wrong question ... but the answer to your question is it does not matter the only difference will be the time it takes to get to -20 . assuming there is perfect insulation and you have no heat source inside the box.
