African Logic I didn’t get much of an MJ vibe , the dance moves the outfit all screams Bobby , but I guess when Tevin Campbell’s voice is on a character dressed like that it can come off as a Michael vibe

This is awesome!! He’s not saying nasty words, talking about what he’s gonna do to the girl. I miss this! He did a song with Damian Marley called “Beautiful” it’s awesome
Nobody believed in bobby after he was kicked out of new edition but he came back and his game was stronger no one could touch him at this point in his career 💯
@@kristinemunholland8980 He was kicked out because he was the bad boy of New Edition: big ego, not following the rules, late all the time, and most of this behavior was driven by his growing dependency on drugs and alcohol at the time.
I’m glad Bobby got to experience the solo success he did even if it was for a few years bc his peak was MASSIVE! In 1989 he outsold every other popular artist at the time with Don’t Be Cruel. Performance wise Bobby had James Brown/Michael Jackson type of stage presence. And he was arguably just as good of a dancer in his peak. He wasn’t traditionally a great singer like a Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, El Debarge, or Johnny Gill but he carried his own vocally in his songs. Bobby shined on stage that’s why he’s known as the KING OF STAGE! He also was one of the first popular r&b artists that consistently rapped in his songs. Him and Teddy Riley were the main pioneers of the New Jack Swing sound that dominated r&b/pop music from the late 80s to early 90s.
@@rickycole6327 I'd go with that, Ricky. This song really captures Bobby's spirit at this stage in his life. Bobby was a huge star by 1988. This song is epic, for me, it's about someone wanting to be themselves and feeling like they can't be as "Everybody's talking all this stuff about me. Why don't they just let me live?" Great tune.
@@vincentstrain2042, true, Vincent, but Bobby was still a huge solo star for a short period in the 1980s. Bobby is a multi-talented man. That's how he should be remembered and celebrated for, not for his battles (which we all undergo) and failed marriage to Whitney. There is more to Bobby than the tabloids wrote about him. He was a New Edition member and a huge solo star in the late 1980s through the early 1990s. Every Little Step is one of the best songs in music history, as is this song and others of Bobby's. His musical impact can't be denied, even if Michael Jackson was the bigger star.
I DON'T CARE about how people feel about Bobby Brown but the man was a musical genius and he will always be! Plus I just found out that this is Michael Jackson's favorite song! If the KING 👑 of Pop says it's him favorite song then it's definitely fire!! 🔥
Bobby was an entertainer, calling him a Musical Genius is like trying to throw a rock from your house to the moon and land it in a crater that you picked out! Prince was a musical genius! Prince wrote his songs produced his songs and did the instrumentation for his songs. Bobby simply sung and danced, Genius entertainer yes, musical genius...No!
@@vincespell He was very talented, but I agree. I wouldn't call him a musical genius, but dammit, he sure was entertaining. He owned the late 80's early 90's.
Matty Geez I didn't even KNOW Britney Spears made her own version of this until I read your comment. o.o (And I wasn't even born when Bobby Brown's version came out. XD)
It always amazes me when singers could walk around, go up to the crowd and on cue jump back in perfectly synced with the back up dancers. *0's singers were a true talent and every way of performance.
It's a bit like playing a solo. You know how many bars you have to improv. When you go back to choreography, you know the beat and measure you come back in on and what the moves are. Which are choreographed to be in sync. From a time/rhythmic perspective it's no different than staying in sync as a singer or instrumentalist.
I'm here because I was reading Michael Jacksons bodyguards book "remember the time protecting the king" and bill his body guard said Michael loved this song made him get the CD and Michael listened to it over and over and over till he new the lyrics this song ment something to Michael....he needed to start making his own decisions... That's his prerogative....
I was a kid in the '90s and can confirm Bobby was a cool talented mofo he was right at the start of when black culture was becoming cool in the modern era.

90s kid here. Sometimes, I ask my parents why I wasn't born 10 years earlier just so I could have experienced the 80s the way they were meant to be haha.
HE WAS ON TOP OF HIS GAME AT THIS STAGE OF HIS CAREER.HE STRAIGHT KILLED THE LATE 80'S
He owned 1989. Straight Fact!! I remember it well.
@Marcus Reeves. This song along with Roni, Don't be Cruel & Rock Wit'cha were my favorite off this album. But, enjoyed and still do enjoy this album.
This brother had raw talent and stage presence ! He was born to do this..
He the King of Stage too if I was mistaken
Bobby was right people shouldn't have control his life
June 21 2024 I'm here ❤❤❤❤❤
Who's here in 2024
Meeeee
I'm here too.... and it's my prerogative

Me....
Tell me whhyyyyyyy
I feel like Powerline’s entire performance in A Goofy Movie is literally based off this video😭❤️
it sure is! good catch!
I had the same thought :)
Thats all I was thinking about when watching this lool
its mj and him but mostly mj
African Logic I didn’t get much of an MJ vibe , the dance moves the outfit all screams Bobby , but I guess when Tevin Campbell’s voice is on a character dressed like that it can come off as a Michael vibe
I have now discovered that Britney's "My Prerogative" was a cover. Seriously, I didn't know. So I came here to hear the original version and I'm already loving it.
So did I... I am utterly amazed🤩
You two dont deserve music 😕
While were at it, heres the original to Britneys Toxic..... Britney even kept this chorus for her song
@@Niggleblade1986 i think they do (everyone does), at least they have the respect to find the original artist and enjoy it too
lol....bro...nearly every song these days from r n b singers these days are covers ......most young people hardly know this and il be honest with you it makes me sad ......i want you to go and listen to 80s music and you will realise why adults these days say what kids listen to today is absolute rubbish
This is awesome!! He’s not saying nasty words, talking about what he’s gonna do to the girl. I miss this! He did a song with Damian Marley called “Beautiful” it’s awesome
Still such a badass performance in 2024!
Nobody believed in bobby after he was kicked out of new edition but he came back and his game was stronger no one could touch him at this point in his career 💯
Remel Montana EXCEPT EVERYBODY ESPECIALLY MICHAEL JACKSON.
Remel Montana Yes! He killed it! Love him!
Remel Montana yes ppl believed baby face wrote an entire album just for him..best time to happen to him getting kick out of NE
Why was Bobby kicked out? I thought they all just went their own ways, w/the exception of BBD being a smaller sized version of NE.
💜💜💜💜💜💜
Well,said!👍
his bobby album showed his singing voice more cause it had matured by then.
Truth.
I'm so old that my first Bobby Brown record was a literal 45 of Mr Telephone Man from New Edition! ☎️
You said it All Bobby, for us Seniors! Love You!
When things were sane and normal. Ahh good ole days.
This man ruled the late 1980s music scene with an iron fist. The impact is still felt to this day, 30-plus years later. You rock, Bobby.
This is his best vocal performance
@@rickycole6327 I'd go with that, Ricky. This song really captures Bobby's spirit at this stage in his life. Bobby was a huge star by 1988. This song is epic, for me, it's about someone wanting to be themselves and feeling like they can't be as "Everybody's talking all this stuff about me. Why don't they just let me live?" Great tune.
Bobby was a huge star but Michael Jackson and Madonna and Janet Jackson actually ruled the '80s for Dance Pop!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Don’t forget Millie Vanilli, Keith Sweat, and Babyface, Motley Crue, Mc Hammer, Ll Cool J, Poison, Bon Jovi, Prince, George Micheal, New Edition
I DON'T CARE about how people feel about Bobby Brown but the man was a musical genius and he will always be!
Plus I just found out that this is Michael Jackson's favorite song! If the KING 👑 of Pop says it's him favorite song then it's definitely fire!! 🔥
@blacklivesmatter4918
Actual Lee: Michael Jackson's favorite song was "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin which his brother Jermaine performed at his memorial.
Glad I grew up in the 80's and 90's. Best music that's still strong today
Bobby Brown: My Prerogative
Release Date: June 20th, 1988 (36 years)
Whitney didn't lie . . . Bobby ruled back in the day!!
Yeah but now Whitney messed up she did drugs and died
Rip
@@00_itachi25 rip what Bobby Brown didn't die Whitney Houston did
Still don't understand how Britney Spear's version of this gets more view, heil the classic shit. I mean for real...
Matty Geez cuz shes fukin hot
Matty Geez She did it justice tho.
Britney can't hold a candle to Bobby. #truth
True, Bobby can dance, sing, and just over-all 10x better than Britney.
Bobby Brown in his prime wow 🤩
STILL probably the most ferocious and pounding groove of all time......
Yep even hip hopers and rap fans loved new jack swing R&B because of the bass 🔊 knocking sound it was edgy
Yeah, I love this ferocious groove!
Yeah bobby brown was one hell of a person on stage a true showman !!!!
This song is HEAVY
You mos def got that right!!! Mos def!
Ginika Ozurumba if true that's pretty Interesting.
Ginika Ozurumba me too I'm here for it
l watched " Searching For Neverland" and Michael sang the song in the movie. He said he loved the song.
Anthonia Opadere i watched that too
YASS THE MAIN REASON WHY IM HERE
I was a kid in the '90s and can confirm Bobby was a cool talented mofo he was right at the start of when black culture was becoming cool in the modern era.
Man those dance moves alone make this song entertaining what happened to old school hip hop?
Fact: Michael Jackson loved that song.
Fun fact
:This was one of MJs favourite song.
Fact: nobody cares.
