Carly I feel you on that routine thing! There's this one Marshall's in my area that I've been to twice and basically had to run out of it before I had a panic attack. Each time I would get close to the cash with all my items, see everyone lining up, look at what I was holding, realize I didn't actually need any of it, look at what everyone else is holding and think "they don't need any of those things," then get super overwhelmed with the idea of consumerism - drop my stuff and leave. Same thing happened at my old job around Christmas. I was a cashier at a JYSK (kind of a mini IKEA), generally people buying things there didn't bother me because it was towels, bed sheets n stuff (things I deem as essential). But what made me anxious was when I saw older people (like 75yo +) buying full sets of new towels. I couldn't help but think that it was unnecessary because they probably already had a closet full of them and probably barely see the light of day. They also are living on a fixed income and the prices added up. - it was all very stressful and I eventually quit and now work in a greenhouse lol I also used to get bouts of anxiety as a kid looking at other people in traffic thinking about where they are going and their names and all the people waiting for them at the location they're going to. I try not to think about any of that too much these days because it quickly turns existential. (also sorry for the essay, basically - i relate on a deep deep level lol)
