E3D Getting Started - Introduction ( Learning Path 01 )

- This is the first tutorial of a new series to get you started in E3D. We are going through the basics for new users who does plant design with other software. For PDMS users, this might help you move to E3D. And you can also pick a tip or two looking how we use the software. We are trying to get you started in the shortest possible time, so tell us if we are doing too brief or we are too detail. We want to be able to put a new tutorial every fortnight while we continue to share tips and how to in the other series.

Detail Rtext : Reducing tee BW B16.9
Material Xtext : ASTM A234 Gr WPB
Pipe Data ref : Sch-100 x Sch-XXS

Hello, have you ever trying import file staadpro (std) to E3d?
Done it before. Problem with StaadPro is that you need something to merge the nodes and also update the justification. We need more datasets to really understand how people model in StaadPro. With those that we had we were able to get quite a good result. I was working for another company when I did this, so the source code is with the company. You really need more users, data to make it more robust. But how much is one willing to pay ?
Just discovered that the idea is already adopted in E3D . I have not looked at it closely, but it look farmiliar.

How long would take to learn the basis of E3D?......
In 1 week you can start modelling. But to be good at it, there is really no limit. After 30 years I am still learning and applying.

Long and short description is something software for piping material management uses if I remember correctly. In E3D , you can use the Isodraft Option file for component description. You can decide whether you want RTEXT and MTEXT.
