      I think my favorite card is #3 "commune with nature". I love the spooky fall vibes to it. Overall I love the look and idea of this deck!

    As a gay male who has been interested in cards and Wicca since I was 10 years old this deck speaks to me. I thoroughly enjoy the diversity that it brings, diversity that I see lacking in the major market of tarot and oracle cards. As a young gay man walking into these shops I often felt not seen. Most decks we're of witches, fairies and everything in between that didn't represent me, or that I couldn't find myself within. In this review I saw Women, Men of every age, shape and size, androgynous/trans individuals and persons of disability. It may not be the cornucopia of diversity that everyone wants it to be, but I feel that it is a strong step in the right direction, and one that I hope more artists and authors take on.

      I agree, the majority of decks feature pretty young women (usually white) in renaissance dresses. As an elderly lady I find it hard to relate.

    I loved this unboxing. Happy to see a new deck from Jena that is her own. I must have 10+ decks that she has created art for so to see this is just magic. I feel that the message and “dark” art as some other commenters commented points to where we are now. Not everything is sunshine and daisies and this deck is about that experience. The true “Human experience” which makes these cards relatable and easy to understand. I’ve pre-ordered and I am excited to have my own experience with these cards and their messages.

    Thank you so much for this video, Natasha! I've been a fan of Jena's work for some time now (through oracle card decks she worked on for Hay House) and didn't know she'd made one all on her own. I'm so happy and excited for her, and off to purchase one as a show of support. Really like the play on words with the titles, and how you can see that in the art.

    Of course the sirens song card is my favourite! 🧜🏼‍♀️💙 The art is really nice. I feel like this deck is a bit all over the place. I use oracle cards to get a theme for a tarot reading, and to clarify or compliment the main message of a reading partway through. I don’t know why but I only feel that about a dozen of the cards in this deck would help me do that. Most seem like they would require a deeper dive into intuition to make sense of. The images don’t always look like what they represent, imo, and one would need to consult the guidebook often, which isn’t my cup of tea. Thank you for another great, thorough unboxing and flip through. ❤❤❤

    I love Jenna's artwork but as a Karen I feel uncomfortable with the "Karen and Ken" reference in an oracle deck because I use oracle decks to bring me to a place of positivity and zen. It's hard enough defending my name without seeing it in an oracle deck!!! I get of course that it references the zeitgeist but I went instead for Inna Segal's new deck "The Healing Heart" with Jenna's artwork - and I have lots of other Jenna decks so I don't feel like I will miss out too much.

    Is it me or did some of the artwork style not match up at times? It’s like there is two different art styles in the deck- low brow/pop surrealism and then just basic drawings. Almost like it can’t make up its mind? I have no idea if I’m describing a that right 🤣😅 Overall it’s a very lovely deck. I definitely love the darker lowbrow style ones. 😍

    I really like it , , the visuals are not normally my style but these are exceptional . My favourite is “make a wish” so far!
    Bit expensive over $50 for me here in Australia mmmmmm I’ll put it on my wish list . I love the play on words too . I’ll take one for free if its offered LOL !

      Seems to be 34.99 on Rockpool's website. But idk what currency that is it. I would assume AU since it's an AU website. But who knows.

    Not sure I like the titles on the sides like that.
    There is some diversity. However, the vast majority of the cards still seem to be younger White presenting people. If you're going to call a deck a celebration of diversity, I'm expecting a bit more diversity. I don't know what the "magic" ratio is for diversity representation, but I would definitely think more than just a few cards in a 44 card deck.

      Thank you so much for your point of view, I love hearing how others perceive my work. As an artist who has created many decks, I have to say that this is my most diverse deck to date. I try to add everyone, and make it relatable for all. However; I am so proud of this all around, and appreciate your point of view completely. I will continue to highlight diversity in every way possible, in both my art and what I put out into the universe.

      I agree bad choice on side titles. Very distracting.

    • @TaraAmrit
      @TaraAmrit ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting comment. Maybe the magic ratio is the census? Let's be US-centric - given the % of US population by race, a 44 card deck would comprise people of races equal to about 26 White, 8 Hispanic, 6 Black, 3 Asian and 1 Native American. About 11 cards should represent people with disabilities... etc. You could break it down precisely but... why? Can't we just appreciate a pretty deck with nice messages?

    • @thrivingselfcarerenee
      @thrivingselfcarerenee ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lana Mandala Sure, we can appreciate a nice deck with pretty images. OR we can do better and as consumers ask for more representation and diversity in the decks we purchase. Know better, do better.

    For a deck called Human Spirit ( although somewhat trying) is still noticably LACKING in ALL areas of diversity...
    Ie. It seemed to default to paler tones to suit the image: but some of the Images would work with other tones. The balance of sex and gender is off. And only 1 visible Disabled( ps. Please correct me if label is wrong)...
    Huge disappointment 😞 in this
    Addendum: edited because of previous error in word use: thanks for feedback

      Tô be fair and balanced ( and I'm sorry for my part) : i conceed that i erred somewhat in my comments and left a few things out
      My thought on Pallet tone was more about (my) perspective of Art: in terms of using a lighter background so the fore image is more distinct ( like the train picture) and the " stereotypical" image of the moon ....and not necessarily about the individual people
      ( Although in trying to explain myself i might be digging a hole...)
      AND what i didn't say ( and i am sorry that i didn't)
      I did not say that, although I thought the pictures could have been different,
      I DO like the Thought and Artistic Setting of the Card
      And i do like the meanings in the guidebook
      And even if i disagree , i want to give you respect for your work

      Most disabled people prefer "disabled." Terms like "differently abled" are seen as infantalizing and insulting. There's nothing wrong with using the term "disabled" or "disability."
