    ABSOLUTE GENIUS ! as someone that regularly tinkers with Titanium in the vane quest to make the perfect stove I can totally appreciate the effort that actually goes into making one of these beautiful examples , the quote I carry one of these with me at all times relating to the thumb is just as impressive Jon you ROCK !

    That's awesome! We don't go camping anymore as we can't do the climbing we used to but every camper or outdoors-man need carry one or two of these!
    Wonderful work 💯 Thank you ‼️

    Beautiful work! Never saw anyone work that hard or put that much time and care into an alcohol stove. Superb my friend.

    That's an amazing design! I've made a lot of stoves (mostly copying Tetkoba) and keep trying to make something with this amount of versatility (yet simplicity!).

    Now that is really ingenious, making the pot stand part of it that is really cool

    I use rather truly multi fuel stove (chinese BRS 8B with gasoline or propane/butane) because of the much shorter time needed for boiling up water than during using alcohol stoves but still... you made really good work. Great tutorial. Respect!

    I am "still" using a soup can with holes in it and charcoal briquettes. I carry the charcoal in the can, and only use 3 pieces to make a boiling Stanley Cookset of water, twice.
    The "stove" is transported wrapped in a PVC cloth bag that was a catfood bag. That bag is waterproof , and it is tough as a rooster beak.
    I can burn alcohol in that can stove, I just soak something like cardboard first then fill and light it up. Not efficient, but it works.

    Jon I can’t say enough how much I love my isoclean stoves. My USGI version has now 3 years of hard use. Never fails. All mine are the version that has potstand intergraded. I have used it in both my Bobcat system and snow leopard Sr. Excellent results! I hope this models stays around for good! Just wanted to say Well done! . Where can I find that hole punch set that you use?

    • @FlatCatGear
      @FlatCatGear  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a Roper Whitney hand punch, I believe the Jr. model.

    • @FlatCatGear
      @FlatCatGear  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW, what fuel do you normally use in your Multi-Fuel?

    • @pyromaniac1491
      @pyromaniac1491 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FlatCatGear
      I mainly use 70% or a 50/50 mix of 70% and 91% rubbing alcohol. If I use HEET I’ll just use either the bobcat stove or snow leopard stove. I noticed in the windscreen if I use HEET in the multifuel it overheats and theflames rise up the sides of the pot.
      My USGI setup I use mainly Rubbing alcohol also. My hiking camping partner is my 13 year old daughter and she loves to do the cooking. I like being able to see the flame during the day. I feel safer letting her use it that way. Eventually I need to get her her own USGI isoclean and a regular version too. When funds permit. Thanks for making such great reliable gear!

    • @FlatCatGear
      @FlatCatGear  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By HEET, I am assuming that you are saying the yellow bottle. Adding a little bit of water will help calm the flames down. HEET in the red bottle is 100% isopropyl and that concentration is too high as well. Again, add a little bit of water will drop the % down to the 90% range.

    • @pyromaniac1491
      @pyromaniac1491 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FlatCatGear yes yellow bottle. Never tried the red.
      I have been doing that for awhile now. The water seems to extend burn time also. I just prefer isopropyl. So far on my pots there’s only decolorization no soot. Once in awhile soot will be on the sides of the pot if it’s windy but wipes off.

    I enjoyed the video but you should make some sort of jig when doing the cutting on the drill press. One snag and you may lose a finger or two. Im 60 now and have known at least a half dozen people that are missing some fingers.
