    You guys should do an interview with Strikeforce Energy and discuss the AFSOC/NSW relationship. How do you know them? What is it like attaching to another service branch’s units? How does ADSOC support those units?

    Super informative video! Do you guys know if EOD receives any additional tactical/small arms training in the pipeline? Obviously, kicking in doors and clearing buildings isn’t their main mission, but will they be trained to do that stuff incase they are attached to a unit that does do that? Thanks guys! Love your channel and podcast!

      @joinairforceeod9808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not in the pipeline, but the majority of EOD techs will attend some sort of small arms training in their career.

    I wish I knew about af eod in at 18. I was an admin job in the navy. Although it’s not AFSOC it’s probably one of the coolest jobs you could in the airforce.

    UXO tech here. To clarify on civilian employment, a graduate of an EOD school with at least a year of experience can get a UXO Tech 3 job, though most companies will hire as a T2 and make you gain at least a couple years civilian grid time before a promotion to T3 or higher. Much of this has to do with training. In EOD, especially after GWOT, emphasis is on modern ordnance and IEDs. In UXO, anticipate dealing more with historical stuff. It's a different environment. It's like, what are the morphological characteristics differentiating a WW1 3" or 75mm high explosive projectile form a shrapnel projectile? Experience with cannon balls, or Stokes mortars. But an EOD tech never enters at T1, in my experience, unless that is the only slot available. An EOD tech can advance the civilian ranks faster than the typical 3/5 years to go 1, 2, and 3 according to DDESB TP-18. EOD accelerates quickly. In fact, some companies only hire EOD unless they are specialists in another useful field, like archaeology, geophysics, or biology. And, if it's a submunitions job, it is always T3 or higher, for obvious reasons. So, minor civilian UXO correction.

    I think what Brayden was talking about the 820th in the air force civil engineer, is the 820th Red Horse Squadron combat engineers. I was in the reserve side in the air force in the 555 (Triple Nickel) Red Horse Squadron. Red Horse stands for "Rapid Engineering Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer."

    I have a question and I hope u guys can help me with it. If you have a shoulder surgery that required a waiver is it easy to get it approved eventhough u never had any issues with since the surgery 7 years ago. And is it all people that had surgery prior service get approved.

      We have people enter all of the time that have previous injuries/surgeries. It just may require a little extra paperwork, but it all depends on how the injury is now.

    Are there any Officer positions in EOD?

    • @joinairforceeod9808
      @joinairforceeod9808 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You have to have an Engineering Degree and become a Civil Engineer Officer. You then apply to become an EOD Officer and go through the pipeline alongside the enlisted folk. AF EOD officers are qualified EOD techs, but they do not really perform EOD duties. Also, most officers only spend about 4-5 years in EOD before going back to Civil Engineering.
