Passing on Luzardo or anyone on the IL. I'm more interested in trading with the Rangers or White Sox than Marlins or Nationals. We always talk about who we want, but not who we are willing to trade. The decisions are upon us. Do we want to win right now while Goldschmidt and Mozaliak are still here, or do we sell off veterans for youth? I am intrigued with trading with the A's as well. Rooker is a right-handed clutch slugger, and Mason Miller are up for grabs. Are we willing to say Walker, Scott, Graceffo etc...are available for the right deal? I love winning, but I start to fear Mozaliak will not make big moves to be equipped for a deep playoff run.
Pass on Luzardo; the injury history is beginning to get very long, and the marlins will be trying to get the moon and stars for him. My dream scenario would be too go after Scherzer, as he should not cost much beyond taking on the contract as a pure rental. Bring Max home, finally. Then, spend some capital on Brent Rooker. You are admittedly buying high on a guy having a craft year, but he's been a high end offensive talent going all the way back to his college days, and he just took a while to find his footing. If the organisation is not sold on Herrera behind the plate, this would be the place to move him, i think. He had tons of value due to the offensive upside and club control. Move him plus a mid level pitching prospect for Rooker, and your offense immediately becomes much more dangerous, especially against left handed pitching.
would be a great idea to STOP trying to remanufacture Walker’s swing….making contact and hitting the ball hard isn’t good enough… how is that change been working??
We should have kept montgomery, to go with gray and gibson. But we’ve also got a lineup full of streaky hitters. World series contenders can have 1-2 streaky hitters and thrive because the rest of their bats are consistent or clutch. Tired of seeing goldy strikeout with based loaded.
They definitely are a winning ball club. But the bats have just got to get hotter. It’s not terrible but they strike out way too much. Gotta put it in play.
I would absolutely look at aquiring Luzardo. of course would depend on the asking price but Cards have a surplus of young starting pitchers plus additional pieces that could be added and not be a serious loss. of course all his stats are down, pitching with a back problem. if the Marlins accept the package indicated…do it.
Pass on Luzardo, please. I like the Zach Eflin idea better. Hunter Harvey? Yeah, I'd be ok with that with that trade. Tanner Scott would be WAY too expensive. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him end up with the Orioles. They have pieces to trade, and they NEED a closer. Also it would be funny as hell to see the O's having to trade pieces to get him back! Garrett Crochet ... man, could you imagine that side-by-side with Sonny? Nasty! And everyone knows the White Sox are selling. Unfortunately, he's probably gonna be in the same category as Tanner Scott. I kinda like the Swap of the Dylans, too. Floro is definitely over-performing right now, but if the Nats would trade, I'd be on board with that! Edit: Wow, just read that. Was that a total stream of consciousness or what? 🤣
Fun team to watch ggs. This is the season Goldy and Nado put that playoff stamp on there hall of fame career. A couple good swings in the playoffs will quiet all the haters. This teams still in the ring and knows how get hit and hit back. Fun Team ps Lynn is fine remember him taking one off the bean and staying in the game in 17 I'll take that. He's a big fella and it's hot give him a so called dl stint for couple weeks let him rest that hose and be ready for playoff push.
Nats closer Kyle Finnegan has 1 year of control. He’s putting up very nice numbers. Rumors are he could be available. He would command a pretty good return though.
If the Cards trade for a bat I think it will be time for an adult protective services referral for Mozeilak. What is your interest in all of these closers? They are expensive, sought after, have limited uses, AND the Cards have an all-world closer as it is.
The biggest upgrade they could make is benching Goldy and working Burly/Goldy at 1st. If the plan is to continue letting Goldy sink the lineup then just table all the moves until the offseason. But what Mo will do, is trade some prospects for Jesus(or another rental), lose in the playoffs while Goldy sucks, let Jesus walk (who will play well), and then be in the same situation next year.
Gelof an 100mph Miller from As, grab Jazz and Jesus Sanchez from Marlins trade Goldy an Nado. Bring up Walker. Play DC daily who hits better than Siani put Burly or Walker at 1st. Gorman 3rd, Gelof 2nd. U could also play Edman at 3rd. DH Sanchez and you have Donovan as well who hits. Speed in outfield. Hitters as well thru line up. Great infield and $ to purchase a pitcher from Nados contract.
Don't care what anyone says we got ar least 3 good pitchers in 3a that could be good up here and we got enough good bats if they would just hit lets see what edman does when he comes back
The only thing saving this cardinals team is how many anemic teams there are in mlb. Hard to watch. Giants, nationals, pirates, ect Be hard to create a good team out of These rosters. Terrible. This cardinals team in decades gone by Be 65 win team. Now facing terrible competition, This team is 80 plus.
True ..they said a bunch of games with sub 500 teams coming in june..that's where we began to win..need a number 1 or 2 starter in a short series to compete in the po.
Any trade for a DESCENT pitcher that includes shipping Carlson to another team would be a great trade for us AND maybe for Carlson too. I would never resign/extend Goldy. He’s been great for us and I like him, but let’s don’t hang on too long. He may still have another good season or two left but I’d rather he have them somewhere else. The Yadi signing was just to calm the “restless natives” quiet until the FO got tired of a lousy performing team and canned Oli. I’m not an Oli fan but I knew the FO was not going to fire Oli.
I agree. I really like Goldy, but his days are growing thin. Perhaps we could get something for him and then allow Walker to play his natural position. Seeing the big kid at 1st would definitely not stink.
. Dont see anyone there. Do the Yanks and first place teams need closers? Keep our trade chips for an elite starter. What about lefty starter Garrett Crochet 105 ip 146 so whip 0.97 lots of red JD and lots of people going to the sox Unless Mo can work another miracle like with the Rockies to get Arenado and save Tink. Id do it to compete with LA .Phillies..or get someone comparable with the right package to make it happen.⚾️🏆 Floro maybe ..a 1 for 1 is his hair long and face scruffy!?😂 you crack me up!
Gorman is a stud i dont care what anyone says. I have followed him since High School. He is the real deal. People will be eating their words at the end of his career.
Leave your thought's on trades with the Marlins and Nationals for our next show!
Bauer would be excellent number 2
Blackballed.Never pitching in the majors ever again.

He’s on the IL and won’t be back till after the deadline and who knows how healthy and the package will be massive so HARD NO

how is that change been working??
I agree ..he had a 17 game hitting streak..dont change his swing..seems like a manager had a 17 game winning streak and wasn't good enough..
At this point I would trust Pallante at #3. Need Edman or Walker or Nootbar to add hitting.
We have a long history making bad deals for pitchers at mid season. The only one I remember working was Woody Williams.
Naaah Quintana, Monty, even Lester and leblanc
JD, I always enjoy your perspective and insights. I look forward to this podcast daily!
I wouldn't touch this guy lazardo hes injured and aint havn a good yr above 5 era id rather have Jose Quintana or max scherzer!!
I'm in the hate the front office club. I think Oli does ok.
I think Harvey would fit nicely in our bullpen "Bring in the stache!" Lol!
Dream trade would be for rooker of the A’s. Someone that could bring some pop to this team
Dunno. I'd sure like to see such an arm on the roster. 🤔

I would definitely go get Bauer
He is blackballed.Never going to pick in the majors again.
Pitch

I’ll take Tanner Scott.. 100%
Jazz and Luzardo would be really fun
N O thanks

Right. Goldy still has 12 or so homeruns to go with his down season. I think he'll end up with 25 at the end of the season.
Nats closer Kyle Finnegan has 1 year of control. He’s putting up very nice numbers. Rumors are he could be available. He would command a pretty good return though.
Stil cant compete with dodgers , phillies when it comes to playoff baseball.
I don't know. I hate trades when a guy is injured. You never know what you're gonna get
I love Gorman. Love Burleson. And will always love Goldy & Carp. But what do I know I'm just a girl.🤔
They want an MLB position player for Scott.
If the Cards trade for a bat I think it will be time for an adult protective services referral for Mozeilak.

Not gonna get much for Carlson
@MikeSmith-rx4uz your probably right
Been seeing a lot about the Cards looking at Scherzer. Whether there's any truth to it idk. It is the internet after all
Moe has done good. It's a fact, considering the payroll

It was the money 💰 for soto
Mo loves going after pitchers that are hurt!
No thanks...too expensive a package.
GO CARDS!!!!!

They have a better team than drama queens like you acknowledge
I agree. I really like Goldy, but his days are growing thin. Perhaps we could get something for him and then allow Walker to play his natural position. Seeing the big kid at 1st would definitely not stink.
Will you bring some attention to how some young talent that deserved an all star spot #winn #burly got skipped on ;(
Here comes your comment about Gorman ...... trade bait.
. Dont see anyone there. Do the Yanks and first place teams need closers? Keep our trade chips for an elite starter. Cardinals were never ever in on Soto!
Still not a big dusty Blake fan or who evers in charge of hitting,,think they wait to long to go out and talk to a pitcher in trouble
Gorman is a stud i dont care what anyone says. I have followed him since High School. He is the real deal. People will be eating their words at the end of his career.
I know he’s been really good lately but why not Seth Lugo? Get some more old guys in this retirement home
You want tonget burned go ahead and trade.
