Had to get my Rouge et Noir and compare to Doug's homage pen-they're pretty close, but I like my Montblanc and am thinking Doug doesn't like the marque. There's a world of room for opinions about function and a universe of room for opinions about aesthetics so, who cares, really? I always thought the pen as a doctor's pen because of the the caduceus like clip. Anyway, I would sure like to own (but not buy) an Agatha Christie model which I could present to my wife, a reader rabbit and Christie devotee. I keep my R & N just to look at and use occasionally. Charming pen.
And that, my friend, is why the Agatha Christie is so expensive AND so popular! Apparently, the Agatha is only second in sales to the MB Victor Hugo in sales for MB's great writers series.
I mean MB designs them to be looked at and appreciated. They are objects de art more than pens. The just happen to write if you need them to. So great as a desk pen for occasional note, and signature, whilst you enjoy having it on your desk the rest of the time. I'm a big fan of spiders and snakes, so I've had my eye on these for a while. I recently got one of the new spider ones, but haven't inked it yet. I hate skinny pens with slick metal sections, so held off for a while. But in the end, I decided I need the nibs in my life. Nice to see this review since I was considering buying the F9S version. I loved the P135 and liked the snake motif of this pen too so it piqued my interest. Is the body of the F9 metal and does it feel like the P135? I'm kinda confused why the ebay listings describe it as a metal pen if the body is made of plastic like the cap is.
Well I'm a bit confused with it because the cap and the piston knob are plastic and match the barrel in colour perfectly. I've examined the edges of the barrel and it looks like it is plastic resin as well. But another viewer claims the paint peels off the barrel and that could only happen if the barrel was enamel paint over metal. I'll have to examine the pen more carefully.
Thanks for another great review. After your very valid points, I decided not to purchase this pen. When I started my new day, I then decided to try this Moonblanc due to the price point and the novelty of the pen. You are a bad influence! LOL.

Hi claudia. The blind cap is supposed to extend out as the piston moves. If it turns but doesn't not move away from the barrel, then it sounds like it is defective or broken.
Have you looked down the barrel to see if the barrel is open like a regular piston filler? Maybe there's a teeny converter in there that gave up hope for freedom. I've read Montblanc does the same thing and uses a technicality to call it a piston. If so then Moonman really did copy it too closely.
I've looked into the abyss and I've seen... .5 ml capacity. :) If it doesn't come out, then it is a piston. In my mind anyway. Even a captive converter can be removed and replaced with a cartridge. Unless I'm mistaken about what a captive converter is.
@@InkquiringMinds Well, heck...why don't they use the space? People would love that! The way I understand it is captive converters can't be removed. I guess they're glued in or something? Probably just a way to get repair money in a high end pen. In Moonblanc's case, buy another pen.
