Important note about aquafaba: Use unsalted chickpeas!! The liquid from salted chickpeas tends to carry the chickpea flavour over to your baked good, especially in something simple like this dough.
As a fellow 90's kid I also highly regarded the all mighty pop-tart. My Mom rarely got it for me, which only strengthened the allure. I'm about to have my first kid in a few weeks actually, so I'm sure this recipe will be very useful in the sorta-near future 🙂 I agree about the brown sugar pop tarts, I remember those being the best!
Your channel deserves so much more support! These recipes are so thoughtfully made and I imagine they took a lot of work. Thank you for these recipes. Keep up the awesome work, and I’m sure that the world will come to admire your outstanding channel!
I told co-workers that I put butter on my pop tarts as a kid - and I was completely ALONE. I will totally make these and add Earth Balance with pride :-) Great recipe!!
I have always buttered my Pop Tarts! My husband thinks it's odd, but I could never eat the dry crust at the unfrosted edges and I hated just tossing those bits. Melt tub butter is perfect for this.
This is so crazy, my hubby and I were just talking about how we haven't had pop-tarts in decades, and wanted to try making our own (vegan) version. I'll definitely have to give these a go soon!
I’m not sure but possibly. You can also just use a pastry cutter or some forks. Or freeze the butter for 20 minutes and then grate it? That’s what I do for biscuits.
When pop tarts first came out they were not frosted AND the had apple, which was my favorite. I’m so going to make these now that I’ve found a really good gluten free flour recipe with my home canned apple pie filling.
Hmm. You could probably add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough to give it a graham cracker vibe. Then for the filling you could add some cornstarch to some chocolate syrup to thicken it up and makes some vegan marshmallow fluff. Top with the regular white icing and for the granules, maybe chocolate shavings or brown sugar mixed with cocoa powder?
I've been making pastry for decades now, and had an internship at a country-club with a pastry chef (just as background). There are things called pastry-cutters that are cheaper than a food processor (or you can even just use forks instead). However, to make a dough like this (which starts out very much like a pie dough, before adding the powdered sugar and aqua-faba) -- you don't really need any tools at all, besides your hands. Break up the chilled butter into small chunks (you can cut them if you like, I never bother and just break it apart by hand), and work them into the flour and powdered sugar mixture with your hands (constantly breaking it up into smaller parts). Eventually, they will form pea-sized beads a bit smaller than the ones shown in the video, (it won't take too long). Then, you just add the liquid to it, and your dough will come together -- no need for a food processor. Since you don't have a food processor, you'll want to make the beads smaller than in the video, and it will (of course) take a bit longer (but not too much time).
Thank u for this video!!!! 😇 I used to love eating pop tarts when I was younger but now they all have bioengineered ingredients in them & high fructose corn syrup 😢😒 but at least now I can have my treats again 😅😁
Super cool. Do you think you could do other flavors too? Also, is there no such thing as blueberry extract? I was ready for it after the strawberry but it never came haha
You could do any flavor you want! I've never seen blueberry extract but I bet it's out there! I have banana, lemon, maple and I think orange extract in my pantry.
The chocolate ones were always my favorite. As for the fruit flavors, I never did dig the frosted ones…I know, I’m in the weirdo minority. 😄 These all look awesome, though…definitely going to try making them. Thanks for the throwback! Oh, and another weirdo thing…I always liked them better raw. 😄
Ok, these look absolutely amazing!! 😍
Thanks!! They were so good! Thank you for the recipe!!

Thanks! I’ve never seen salted chickpeas but I’ll watch out for em!
Didn’t even consider how simple this could be. And your wildberry aesthetic was on point! This is a must try for us.

Thank you so much!!!
Brown sugar Pop-Tarts were my favorite! This might be a dangerous recipe for me to make, but I think I will anyway 😁 Thanks!
Lol, I feel similarly. Dare to make the dangerous recipes! Heck, if the recipe doesn't seem dangerous, where will the motivation to make it come from?
Yes!!! Thank you! 🤤❤️
Brown Sugar Cinnamon is my absolute fave (though S'Mores is a close second, but I guess that would require a different crust to get the graham taste!)
I’ll make those next time!
My guy, if you can pull off a vegan toaster strudel that tastes like the shitty freezer version, I'll build a shrine in your honor.
I'd help you pay for it!
I’ve been waiting for a vegan toaster strudel replica forever 😭 bury me in wild berry pls
You nailed it, TBD. 😎
✨This channel has ALL the fun foods! My inner-child is so happy! Thanks, Thee Burger Dude!✨☺️

It's the universe telling you to make pop-tarts!
Mmmm looks delicious.
This looks a lot easier than I expected. I have an irrational aversion to food processors though. Would a high speed blender work?

Wow! I can’t wait to make these! Thank you!
Your recipes always amaze me! Thank you! ❤️
Wet finger is a good band name.

making these as soon as I get home today
How simple to make this snack but looks so delicious...
Thanks for sharing with us..
Those look really amazing!!
Oh wow! These look fantastic!
Brown sugar cinnamon has always been my fave. Cherry is 2nd and chocolate fudge is 3rd.
Congrats on 149,000 subscribers!!!
They look wonderful!!!
Pop tarts were my favorite breakfast treat before going vegetarian. Would love to try this but with my favorite flavor vanilla milkshake 😋
There is a brand called Nature's Path that makes vegetarian Poptarts (no gelatin)! I've seen them sold at Trader Joe's, Target, and Whole Foods
Vegan Elmer’s glue video please 😍
You're genuinely amazing. Thank you
Yummy 😋 these looks so. delicious can't wait to try these
Sweet! Thanks for the clear instructions!
Are you going to make an edible Elmers glue and Playdoh video?
Haha
The only pop-tarts I ever ate were the S'mores kind. lol. Looks good!
Those were good too! I think I ate those the most after these three!

@@RogueAstro85 Genius!
@@suicune2001 thanks! Smores was my 2nd favorite next to brown sugar cinnamon so I instantly started thinking about how to make them
Please tell me there's a Don't Fear The Bean Juice tshirt
these look so much more delicious than poptarts thank you for this recipe!
These look so good
Job well done!!!
How delicious!
How do you keep the icing from melting when heating the tart in the toaster?
I Love Emma’s Goodies! & How Thick They Are. Thnx For The Recipe ❤️
OMG I NEED TO MAKE THESE!!
Hahaha fellow Elmer’s glue kid here
beautiful and delicious looking!
I have to try!
I have never tried pop tarts but now i kinda want to. 😀
can you do this without a food processor? (college student with no food processor)

Vop tarts
I love this channel ❤️

They look great tho I'm kinda disappointed that you didn't make the jam. it's super easy
"I was more of an Elmer's glue kinda guy myself" 😂😂😂
I accidentally used too much Aquafaba, how do I save it?!
That Bean Juice looks like what I’ll look like before I eat these
😎💨
Make toaster strudels!!! The real superior toaster dessert...I mean breakfast lol
can this be stored and frozen for the toaster?
I’m not sure but I think that could work! I’ll have to test it.
It is okay if someone used a hand mixer or a blender to mix the dough?
As long as you don’t over mix I think so!
What brand of vegan colouring do you use? Also the sprinkles? I can never find vegan colouring or sprinkles anywhere
Watkins food dye and the whole foods sprinkles. I've also usede the McCormick dyes.
@@TheeBurgerDude thonks 🐼
@@TheeBurgerDude oh darn. Just found out these brands aren’t vegan either😔
@@meerasingh8110 Watkins is and so is the whole foods. McCormick used red 40, but not animal products.
@@meerasingh8110 I ordered some stuff off of Color Kitchen to make these. They have vegan dyes and sprinkles :)
These look sooooo good! But I'd have to adjust them to be gluten-free. I hope GF flour won't make them too crumbly.

Can you use gluten free all purpose flour to make gluten dairy free pop tarts? 😒I have the double whammy
Unpopular opinion, I always found the cinnamon poptart to be the worst one lol.
More for me!
If I'm being extra lazy do you think store bought pie dough could work?😂 I don't have a food processor at the moment.
Yes!
omg
I just get unfrosted pop tarts which are vegan.
And now you are also “Thee pastry dude”!
But vegan.. and better!
As always..
Are pop tarts not already vegan!?!?
Nope! There’s a couple unfrosted ones that are, but the rest have gelatin, so not even vegetarian!
you mad man
Sugar isnt vegan
Damn veganism debunked.
