Like others I am sad that he left Vampire Weekend as well, but I am so excited for his music, it sounds like someone mashed up an updated version of old Owl City and Kishi Bashi.
What breaks my heart is Rostam leaving VW. It's like Lennon leaving Lennon/McCartney after Rubber Soul. There's so much more there. Their reuniting is one of the few things I pray for.
He will still be helping hem write music. Just doesn't want to be known as 'Rostam the guy from VW' anymore.

He left VW because he didn't want the band to be bigger than him, but there is no way that this can top the success he found with VW. Huge mistake, not only for him but for Vampire Weekend too. I worry that they'll struggle to produce anything as good as Modern Vampires without Rostam's writing and production.
He didn't leave the band because he was afraid the band would be bigger than him, he has confirmed that he left the band because he wasn't bing taken seriously as a producer, also he wanted to branch out into more of pop style of music and he has said he didn't really understand the whole indie vibe vampire weekend had. As well as this vampire weekend will not struggle to release new content as Rostam has said he will help produce all the new albums and songs in future
