@Lee Hudson it's the stingray model which is considered the base model of corvettes. But similar to adding a performance pack. Z51 upgrades the suspension, tires, aero, etc. The last gen model order for performance was: Stingray 465hp Stingray z51 465hp Grandsport 465hp Z06 650hp Zr1 755hp

The secret is in the licensing procedures as well as driver education We need to do a better job at enforcing and ticketing tailgating, reckless lane changes.speeding in bad weather and or over poor road conditions, etc These are the people that are responsible for half the vehicle deaths in NA. We tolerate bad drivers in North American, those countries with stricter licensing procedures, strictly enforced rules have fewer accidents. Every man or woman can be taught to be a good driver.

You should not expect (Warp Drive Engine's) for 60 - 70 K or thousands of dollars! Now for about ($150,000)? The ZR1 is going to give Bugatti Veyron, a run for it's Money! You know how fast the (ZR1 IS) over the History of the (Top Corvette)!

Guess what Chevy did their research, only certain dealers can sell the C8, because they know those dealers won't nickle or dime you. Also don't you have to order a Tesla? Yes, 0-60 isn't the best measure, but it's much more real world than 1/4 mile. Relatively few people actually track their cars, and unless you want lots of tickets and potential loss of license, you won't be routinely breaking 100 MPH on highways. For a daily driver, 0-60 is the most sensible speed measure. And GM appears to have made a great car here.
Won't be doing 100 on the highway lol. We do 100+ every other time we get behind the wheel here. If you aren't doing at a minimum of 80 in the fast lane you become a road rage victim. Pay attention, know the road you're on and cops become an afterthought.
Instead of using the word faster you should use the word quicker. Faster suggests top speed. Quicker means in a shorter amount of time. More appropriate.
I want to make a complaint. Granted it's to the wrong person. But this comment of yours, is severely underrated. I wish I could like it 100 times more just to prove it.
As a person that's drag raced well over 1000 times (and counting) it has always annoyed me when the term "fast" is used when "quick" is the proper term. So many professional magazine testers and popular on line testers seemingly do this constantly too. Stating how fast a vehicle is (especially in the 1/4 mile) actually refers to it's trap speed, and trap speeds when racing an opponent don't win races, ETs do (and cutting a good reaction time).
Can't wait to see all about the C8 Z, all the cars you compared the C8 too are all supercharged or turbos, and they all got beat, can you imagine the Z06 and the base with a good tune 👍👍🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Yes with a simple tune working with the air/fuel and raising the RPM up 500 more this car will be over 200MPH and I would say 50 more HP real easy.If Hennesy or lets say a aftermarket doing a supercharger this car will even have a more wow factor.
Going to be sweet ! Not sure on the financially obtainable for most of us in reference to the ZR1 or the Zora model, I'm waiting on the Z to make my decision, it's been tough, since I feel like I've been waiting for yrs now, I'm still in the C6 Z06, was Pro-charged and built to 814rwp, but since I'm not a drag racer, just not my thing or fun for me, I love track racing, and the HP level was way too much to enjoy so I recently had all the supercharger removed, now I'm at 565 rwhp which feels allot slower to me, LoL , but so much more fun and controllable now, I do miss those adrenaline 50-150 straight line rushes in Mexico 👍 so I'm good with the lower hp, for what I enjoy, with the new weight distribution of the mid engine I'm so excited and very impatient now, but must wait, I really wish they would do 0-100 mph instead of 0-60 mph, even better let's see a 50-150 for us track fans .. be safe everyone 🏁🏁🏁🏁👍👍👍
I own a C2,C3 and a C7 Z06. All these cars are a blast to drive but the Z06 is insanely fast. I’m saving up for a C8 Z06. Can’t wait !!!!! Corvette rules!!!! I just hope there’s a manual option on the Z06.
I'm so sick of people calling things like, a BMW i8 which has *300HP,* and just random European cars that can barely break a 4 second 0-60 a supercar. And just writing off the Corvette as a sports car because it's a Corvette. But, when the sports cars are beating the supercars, there's a bit of a labeling issue going on. The C8 is no doubt a supercar.
No one has ever called the i8 a supercar. The claimed 4.4 sec is not in the range of 2019 supercars quite obviously, but you can tune them and the claim may be conservative. They are very fast for what they are: a 3cyl with mild hybrid. They look very slick too in my opinion.
If you are ONLY looking at 0 to 60 to determine if you will spend $300K for a 10th of a second 'quicker'... then what happens if you want to go to 70 or 80? Do you have to go and buy a different $300K car..? There aren't very many times in my 67 years of Life that getting to exactly 60 mph really made much difference... Even in Drag Racing! Much more important was how fast I covered a particular Distance... whether it was a quarter mile, or the next curve. or from Atlanta to Dallas... And a vehicle that can do ALL of those well, was much more "value" than if it can only do ONE of those things better than others.
GM loves to do this. Did the same with the fbody, but I cant think of a good reason to under report their flagship (other than potentially steer people toward Z06/Zr1).
I heard Motor trend dyn'd several times 600+ AT THE WHEELS in 5th gear like 630hp/560lbs!!!!! This was with the pushrod v-8. The z-06 is supposed to get a flat-plane powerplant. OOHHHHH-BOY!!!!

In this case, the Z51 package is clearly a "trim" option for practical purposes, given the $5000 price tag and major performance differences. Actually I would argue that 0-60 is fairly important. Unless you track your car incessantly, it is the metric that is most accessible on the public roads those being relevant to a wider number of owners. My car’s vmax of 160 mph is great but never have i seen it. While Bella has been on a few tracks, the number of times I given hard full acceleration in my normal commute far out numbers her track day blasts.

I bought a 2002 zo6 4 months ago and every time I get a clear lane I blast into the 140’s (I can’t help it, I’m an asshole), so I think it depends who you are. 90 percent of drivers will never go above 100 though. I’ve tried to get many other corvette and sports car drivers to race on the expressway and almost zero takers.
Our foreign in friends Australian, Japan, Britain, etc who love the Corvette should get excited as this will be the first time Chevrolet has ever produced right-hand-drive Corvettes for the world market. The right-hand-drive C8's will be built alongside left-hand drive C8's at the GM Assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky USA.

@pontiacGXPfan Yes, the ZR1 was pretty cool with 755 hp upfront, as well as being stupid fast.LOL.This is a case of "now what" GM had no choice but to go mid-engine, mother nature or should I say "physics " said "that all we can do ", either reposition the engine or accept the limitations of the front engine ZR 1 . That was the end of the road for a production front-engine chassis. The C8 will pretty much out handle and out-accelerate the ZR 1 with less of everything. And I love the build quality of Porsche 911, but try buying one for 60 - 80 thousand new. Eliminate the Corvettes plastic and replace it with all carbon, metals, etc and the base C8 becomes 125,000 US $ .GM wants to sell the car to a new and younger buyer as well. I was 17 years old and did farm work for 1.50 an hour after school to buy it. Chevy was testing their C8 with the Porsche 911. A 911 was seen in most spy shots with the C8. So the C8 performance was measured with the legend. Big kudos to Chevy. Can’t wait for the Zo6, Zora and hybrid.
Can you imagine how it'll be if they put an electric motor up front? They can gear the transmission for more top speed, further help 0-60, and add efficiency.

Most people who buy exotic super or hyper cars buy them as status symbols and 0-60 times don't matter. That being said. I like that we are talking about a $70,000 car competing with those more expensive cars.

Raymond Rocco you can only get so much horse power out a six cylinder. The American V8 is much more versatile. Porsche has limited itself with the 911 you can only hang so big of an engine of the ass of a 911. The Corvette is limit less.
As always great information. The C8 is fantastic with 2.8 seconds for 0-60mph. All I can say about the other marques is why pay more for less?? Just wait for the Z06 and ZR1 versions.

The magazine tested it with a spoiler. That took 10mph off the top-end and in the quarter-mile results. I'd like to see what base does against the C7 without all that drag.

Well, there's some info here that must be addressed: Multiple independent dynos are putting the stock C8 block at MORE than 100 horsepower over the GM numbers. So we're over 600 in truth. This must be balanced out against cars like the 488. The others are just so much more expensive - it puts the Vette in such perspective, it's bananas.
I understand that this video is solely comparing 0-60 times, and it is impressive how quickly the base model c8 gets to 60 mph for the price, but I feel it's important to note that all of the cars that it beats 0-60 would manhandle it once you get passed 60 mph. European style super cars, which are designed similarly to race cars, are designed with track performance in mind. On the track you hardly spend time under 60 mph, and almost never spend time low in the revs. It's why European sports cars, super cars, and even a lot of gt cars make all their power up top. The C8 is very American in that it's more designed to be quick rather than fast, whilst the Ford GT, McLaren Senna, Ferrari 488 GTB, Porsche 911 Carrera 4s, etc are designed to be fast rather than quick. The base C8 is absolutely a bargain for a mid engine sports car, and if you are able to tune the engine to make more power up top rather than down low, it'd probably be quite fast, but, at least for the base model, it shouldn't be thought that it will perform the same as European style super cars.
Shows what can be done when a big manufacturers takes it on and mass produces a supercar. Rather than leave it to the luxury (?) batch producers who rely and feed off exclusivity. Great stuff let's hope others will join the fun.
From what I've read the understeer is pretty standard with mid engine cars, my MR2 cuts in on understeer and transitions to oversteer very linear and predictable, it just different and IMO much easier to handle on a track.
Great Video love the cars you picked. I’ve owned a 2015 Zo6 and now a 19 ZR1 and you got the times mixed up. The Zo6 is 2.95 to 60 and the 1/4 is 10.95 The ZR1 on the other hand is 10.8 right time just wrong car.
The comparison against the Porsche is perfect since it's a direct competitor, and amazing its quicker and about half the cost... I can't wait to see the track time comparison though because with the new type of suspension combined with magnetic ride this vette may actually out handle its rivals as well... I'm expecting to see a couple seconds a lap quicker on small circuits
Dreamcatcher_11_ Catcher you should try a C7 my Z06 has quite a bit of room. I’m only 6-1 but my son is 6-5 and he fits ok. It might be a little tight for you but you might be able to get the seat put back a bit.
The 570S is not a newer version of the MP4-12C. 650S then 720S is. 570S is call the sport series, 12c, 650s, 720s is called super series’s, P1, Senna is called ultimate series.
Most people who will buy this car will not race it. They will buy it because it is beautiful and comfortable and can be fixed when it breaks and all cars do. Good job Chevy, a car for the decades to come. And it is made in the USA and will be very competitive with imports, a Quality car made here.

The Z51 C8 is geared to get an eye popping 0-60 time but is a 180 mph car whereas the other SuperCars you are comparing it to are all over 200 mph cars, so yes the C8 got 2.8 secs. which is damn impressive but they did it with gearing....it's not rocket science.

instead of 0-60 I think these super cars should now start being rated at 0-100 mph to see whose faster. In a real world race these cars will be racing way beyond 60mph. 0-60 wont even get you to the next street light in a real world race. At the higher end torque and gears 0-100 will give you a better result of who is really the faster super car.

He's right, too. 0-60 is basically down to driver skill and conditions such as weather, altitude, tires, etc. 0-120 would show which supercar is actually faster and help up factor some of the launch conditions out a bit more.
Its impressive there's no question but I think the reason why it's competition is more expensive is there exclusivity and quality of build as well I'm sure when up to speed on a track the handling may be more refined having said that there's no other car at this price point that does what this can do !
The lack of a spoiler will get you a top-end of 194+ tho. You'll be up to 10mph slower with the split spoiler that's common with the Z51 package. Cheaper is faster.
My friend Chevy has a legacy, so u realize what this c8 will do with a 2.9 liter Supercharger, sticky tires,cam,heads,tune! This car will be a heartbreaker!

@rockn roll Agree. The thing about the C8 is that it seems to be able to do everything well everyday. Apparently the ride is excellent and not just by sports car standards. The interior is very premium. The looks are attention getting. The perfect daily driver or cross country GT; fully capable of a day at the tract.
rockn roll Considering that how much the C8 improved 0-60 over the C7, it’s deserving to be talked about. The base C7 & C8 have the same power/weight ratio, so nearly a second (about 25% less time) is massive. Virtually any car that comes close to sub 3 sec is double the price. 0-60 is getting the most focus because of how absurdly quick it is. 11.1 sec 1/4 miles are quick, but not asinine like some other cars (which typically have much more power and/or weigh considerably less. It pulls over 1g on a skidpad, but it’s still well below other cars like a C7 ZO6 and ZL1. The trap speed of the C8 is slightly higher than the base C7. It’s 40-60, 60-100, and other times once it’s rolling will likely be equally similar to the base C7. The point- A sub 3 second 0-60 for a new car under $70k is unheard of territory... well, until the C8 showed up, so of course people will rave over it.

People need to get over the 0-60 time, once we see these in roll races I think they’ll be a real disappointment. The new Porsche carrera is faster than this vette once moving with 50hp less! It’s too heavy but for a base model costing what it does it’s an unbelievable deal!
I agree with you that roll racing will certainly bring the Vette back a few notches but I disagree in that 0-60 isn't important. Many people love to stoplight race and this car for less than 70K with z51 will be king in that area at a crazy price.
Most major publications use the one foot roll out rule though when testing which equates to an added .3 to times. Which means 0 to 60 in 3.1 and 11.4 in the quarter. Not bad.
0 to 80 is still reasonable as a street test as is 30 to 100. I like 0-60 though too because that is the classic random street race. My C7 Z06 is enough until the C8 has a Z06 version with two years under its belt
C8 is a super car for the streets, 0 to 60 mph is where we all drive every day. At 2.8 seconds in one second you are going faster then any speed Lomé in North America. All that for less then the price of a loaded Ford Pickup Truck. After you drive through the Bumper to Bumper warranty in 3 years, just sell it to a want to be and go buy a new one that will probably get to 60 in less then 2.5 seconds, AWD!
The C8 has high value but they did cut costs somewhere. Something about it very likely will fail and/or will be made of cheap plastic material because the base price of 67k is so relatively low. Sweet car for the money tho.
They should make a "real" "base" version consisting of: Stereo/infotainment system delete. Cloth seats (with no driveshaft, it should be able to be ordered with a bench seat.) LMAO. Regular 6 speed manual Roll up windows A/C delete No LEDs just incandescent bulbs Analog dashboard 5.3 Truck motor. (it would still blow away anything made in the 80's & most of 90's) No launch control and or driving "modes" (gimmicks) Unremovable solid hardtop. C5 steering wheel Then maybe where I live it would cost less than $120000 for the "base" model that's advertised as $60000.
F1 cars do plus 3.0 seconds 0 - 60 times as well. Not all cars are designed with a focus on 0 - 60 times. That is a minor metric to measure in camparison.
I heard on a video that there are 37000 orders for the C8. I wonder if there is a upper limit to what Bowling green is allowed to build in 2020? What do other C7 owners believe will happen to resale values for C7's?
Well as of right now those '37,000 orders' are all delayed and on hold due to these UAW strikes, so lots of people are going to be mad when they don't receive their cars in 2020.
The C8 will be less expensive to maintain than all of the other mentioned cars. Also, once the modification industry catches up, I think the C8 will be kicking some serious butt! Then when the Z06 and ZR1 come out..........
This might be a dumb question, but how do you wash the C8 with vents on the hood cover? What happens if you drive in the rain? Does water just go all over the engine????

Yes, 0-60 isn't the best measure, but it's much more real world than 1/4 mile. Relatively few people actually track their cars, and unless you want lots of tickets and potential loss of license, you won't be routinely breaking 100 MPH on highways. For a daily driver, 0-60 is the most sensible speed measure. And GM appears to have made a great car here.

As a person that's drag raced well over 1000 times (and counting) it has always annoyed me when the term "fast" is used when "quick" is the proper term. So many professional magazine testers and popular on line testers seemingly do this constantly too.
Stating how fast a vehicle is (especially in the 1/4 mile) actually refers to it's trap speed, and trap speeds when racing an opponent don't win races, ETs do (and cutting a good reaction time).

Yes with a simple tune working with the air/fuel and raising the RPM up 500 more this car will be over 200MPH and I would say 50 more HP real easy.If Hennesy or lets say a aftermarket doing a supercharger this car will even have a more wow factor.

Not sure on the financially obtainable for most of us in reference to the ZR1 or the Zora model, I'm waiting on the Z to make my decision, it's been tough, since I feel like I've been waiting for yrs now, I'm still in the C6 Z06, was Pro-charged and built to 814rwp, but since I'm not a drag racer, just not my thing or fun for me, I love track racing, and the HP level was way too much to enjoy so I recently had all the supercharger removed, now I'm at 565 rwhp which feels allot slower to me, LoL , but so much more fun and controllable now, I do miss those adrenaline 50-150 straight line rushes in Mexico 👍 so I'm good with the lower hp, for what I enjoy, with the new weight distribution of the mid engine I'm so excited and very impatient now, but must wait, I really wish they would do 0-100 mph instead of 0-60 mph, even better let's see a 50-150 for us track fans .. be safe everyone 🏁🏁🏁🏁👍👍👍

I own a C2,C3 and a C7 Z06. All these cars are a blast to drive but the Z06 is insanely fast. I’m saving up for a C8 Z06. Can’t wait !!!!! Corvette rules!!!! I just hope there’s a manual option on the Z06.
I'm so sick of people calling things like, a BMW i8 which has *300HP,* and just random European cars that can barely break a 4 second 0-60 a supercar. And just writing off the Corvette as a sports car because it's a Corvette. But, when the sports cars are beating the supercars, there's a bit of a labeling issue going on. The C8 is no doubt a supercar.
No one has ever called the i8 a supercar. The claimed 4.4 sec is not in the range of 2019 supercars quite obviously, but you can tune them and the claim may be conservative. They are very fast for what they are: a 3cyl with mild hybrid. They look very slick too in my opinion.
I have a C7 Z06, but the fact that C8 Z51 is that close is incredible. Can’t wait until the C8 Z06 comes out.

There aren't very many times in my 67 years of Life that getting to exactly 60 mph really made much difference... Even in Drag Racing! Much more important was how fast I covered a particular Distance... whether it was a quarter mile, or the next curve. or from Atlanta to Dallas... And a vehicle that can do ALL of those well, was much more "value" than if it can only do ONE of those things better than others.
S not to mention 11:1 quarter mile time which is pretty fast for a 495 hp car for around 70000 thousand that is reliable and proven

The C8 engine spec's are way underrated. Dyno shows that it's more like 560 hp and 530 pound feet of torque.
GM loves to do this. Did the same with the fbody, but I cant think of a good reason to under report their flagship (other than potentially steer people toward Z06/Zr1).
I heard Motor trend dyn'd several times 600+ AT THE WHEELS in 5th gear like 630hp/560lbs!!!!! This was with the pushrod v-8. The z-06 is supposed to get a flat-plane powerplant. OOHHHHH-BOY!!!!

Actually I would argue that 0-60 is fairly important. Unless you track your car incessantly, it is the metric that is most accessible on the public roads those being relevant to a wider number of owners.
My car’s vmax of 160 mph is great but never have i seen it. While Bella has been on a few tracks, the number of times I given hard full acceleration in my normal commute far out numbers her track day blasts.

I bought a 2002 zo6 4 months ago and every time I get a clear lane I blast into the 140’s (I can’t help it, I’m an asshole), so I think it depends who you are. 90 percent of drivers will never go above 100 though. I’ve tried to get many other corvette and sports car drivers to race on the expressway and almost zero takers.

Yes, the ZR1 was pretty cool with 755 hp upfront, as well as being stupid fast.LOL.This is a case of "now what" GM had no choice but to go mid-engine, mother nature or should I say "physics " said "that all we can do ", either reposition the engine or accept the limitations of the front engine ZR 1 . That was the end of the road for a production front-engine chassis.
The C8 will pretty much out handle and out-accelerate the ZR 1 with less of everything. And I love the build quality of Porsche 911, but try buying one for 60 - 80 thousand new. Eliminate the Corvettes plastic and replace it with all carbon, metals, etc and the base C8 becomes 125,000 US $ .GM wants to sell the car to a new and younger buyer as well. So the cost was important.
I bought the world's fastest production bike in 1970, the Kawasaki Mach 3 "widowmaker "for 1104.00 US dollars brand new. I was 17 years old and did farm work for 1.50 an hour after school to buy it. Raymond Rocco you can only get so much horse power out a six cylinder. The American V8 is much more versatile. Porsche has limited itself with the 911 you can only hang so big of an engine of the ass of a 911. The Corvette is limit less.
As always great information. The C8 is fantastic with 2.8 seconds for 0-60mph. All I can say about the other marques is why pay more for less?? Just wait for the Z06 and ZR1 versions.

The magazine tested it with a spoiler. That took 10mph off the top-end and in the quarter-mile results. I'd like to see what base does against the C7 without all that drag.

Well, there's some info here that must be addressed: Multiple independent dynos are putting the stock C8 block at MORE than 100 horsepower over the GM numbers. So we're over 600 in truth. This must be balanced out against cars like the 488. The others are just so much more expensive - it puts the Vette in such perspective, it's bananas.
I understand that this video is solely comparing 0-60 times, and it is impressive how quickly the base model c8 gets to 60 mph for the price, but I feel it's important to note that all of the cars that it beats 0-60 would manhandle it once you get passed 60 mph. European style super cars, which are designed similarly to race cars, are designed with track performance in mind. On the track you hardly spend time under 60 mph, and almost never spend time low in the revs. It's why European sports cars, super cars, and even a lot of gt cars make all their power up top. The C8 is very American in that it's more designed to be quick rather than fast, whilst the Ford GT, McLaren Senna, Ferrari 488 GTB, Porsche 911 Carrera 4s, etc are designed to be fast rather than quick. The base C8 is absolutely a bargain for a mid engine sports car, and if you are able to tune the engine to make more power up top rather than down low, it'd probably be quite fast, but, at least for the base model, it shouldn't be thought that it will perform the same as European style super cars.
Shows what can be done when a big manufacturers takes it on and mass produces a supercar. Rather than leave it to the luxury (?) batch producers who rely and feed off exclusivity. Great stuff let's hope others will join the fun.
From what I've read the understeer is pretty standard with mid engine cars, my MR2 cuts in on understeer and transitions to oversteer very linear and predictable, it just different and IMO much easier to handle on a track.

Great Video love the cars you picked. I’ve owned a 2015 Zo6 and now a 19 ZR1 and you got the times mixed up. The Zo6 is 2.95 to 60 and the 1/4 is 10.95 The ZR1 on the other hand is 10.8 right time just wrong car.

I can't wait to see the track time comparison though because with the new type of suspension combined with magnetic ride this vette may actually out handle its rivals as well... The 570S is not a newer version of the MP4-12C. 650S then 720S is. 570S is call the sport series, 12c, 650s, 720s is called super series’s, P1, Senna is called ultimate series.

The Z51 C8 is geared to get an eye popping 0-60 time but is a 180 mph car whereas the other SuperCars you are comparing it to are all over 200 mph cars, so yes the C8 got 2.8 secs. which is damn impressive but they did it with gearing....it's not rocket science.

instead of 0-60 I think these super cars should now start being rated at 0-100 mph to see whose faster. In a real world race these cars will be racing way beyond 60mph. 0-60 wont even get you to the next street light in a real world race. At the higher end torque and gears 0-100 will give you a better result of who is really the faster super car.

He's right, too. 0-60 is basically down to driver skill and conditions such as weather, altitude, tires, etc. 0-120 would show which supercar is actually faster and help up factor some of the launch conditions out a bit more.
Its impressive there's no question but I think the reason why it's competition is more expensive is there exclusivity and quality of build as well I'm sure when up to speed on a track the handling may be more refined having said that there's no other car at this price point that does what this can do !

THE 2.8 Seconds is with the performance exhaust. It’s a option on the basic corvette. It comes standard on the Z51.
The lack of a spoiler will get you a top-end of 194+ tho. You'll be up to 10mph slower with the split spoiler that's common with the Z51 package. Cheaper is faster.
It's 2.9 without the package though.

@rockn roll Agree. The thing about the C8 is that it seems to be able to do everything well everyday. Apparently the ride is excellent and not just by sports car standards. The interior is very premium. The looks are attention getting. The perfect daily driver or cross country GT; fully capable of a day at the tract.

Considering that how much the C8 improved 0-60 over the C7, it’s deserving to be talked about. The base C7 & C8 have the same power/weight ratio, so nearly a second (about 25% less time) is massive. Virtually any car that comes close to sub 3 sec is double the price.
0-60 is getting the most focus because of how absurdly quick it is. 11.1 sec 1/4 miles are quick, but not asinine like some other cars (which typically have much more power and/or weigh considerably less. It pulls over 1g on a skidpad, but it’s still well below other cars like a C7 ZO6 and ZL1. The trap speed of the C8 is slightly higher than the base C7. It’s 40-60, 60-100, and other times once it’s rolling will likely be equally similar to the base C7.
The point- A sub 3 second 0-60 for a new car under $70k is unheard of territory... well, until the C8 showed up, so of course people will rave over it.

Can't help to wonder how chevy did it. I mean these high end supercars have been doing this for decades and the underdog comes out of nowhere and whips everyone ass. Wow.

People need to get over the 0-60 time, once we see these in roll races I think they’ll be a real disappointment. The new Porsche carrera is faster than this vette once moving with 50hp less! It’s too heavy but for a base model costing what it does it’s an unbelievable deal!
I agree with you that roll racing will certainly bring the Vette back a few notches but I disagree in that 0-60 isn't important. Many people love to stoplight race and this car for less than 70K with z51 will be king in that area at a crazy price.
Most major publications use the one foot roll out rule though when testing which equates to an added .3 to times. Which means 0 to 60 in 3.1 and 11.4 in the quarter. Not bad.

0 to 80 is still reasonable as a street test as is 30 to 100. I like 0-60 though too because that is the classic random street race.
My C7 Z06 is enough until the C8 has a Z06 version with two years under its belt

C8 is a super car for the streets, 0 to 60 mph is where we all drive every day. At 2.8 seconds in one second you are going faster then any speed Lomé in North America. All that for less then the price of a loaded Ford Pickup Truck. After you drive through the Bumper to Bumper warranty in 3 years, just sell it to a want to be and go buy a new one that will probably get to 60 in less then 2.5 seconds, AWD!
In Audacity there is an option to reduce noise. That will take care of the background hum from your mic. Costs nothing.
The C8 has high value but they did cut costs somewhere. Something about it very likely will fail and/or will be made of cheap plastic material because the base price of 67k is so relatively low. Sweet car for the money tho.
They should make a "real" "base" version consisting of:
Stereo/infotainment system delete.
Cloth seats (with no driveshaft, it should be able to be ordered with a bench seat.) LMAO.
Regular 6 speed manual
Roll up windows
A/C delete
No LEDs just incandescent bulbs
Analog dashboard
5.3 Truck motor. (it would still blow away anything made in the 80's & most of 90's)
No launch control and or driving "modes" (gimmicks)
Unremovable solid hardtop.
C5 steering wheel
Then maybe where I live it would cost less than $120000 for the "base" model that's advertised as $60000.
F1 cars do plus 3.0 seconds 0 - 60 times as well. Not all cars are designed with a focus on 0 - 60 times. That is a minor metric to measure in camparison.

Well as of right now those '37,000 orders' are all delayed and on hold due to these UAW strikes, so lots of people are going to be mad when they don't receive their cars in 2020.

The C8 will be less expensive to maintain than all of the other mentioned cars. Also, once the modification industry catches up, I think the C8 will be kicking some serious butt! Then when the Z06 and ZR1 come out..........
This might be a dumb question, but how do you wash the C8 with vents on the hood cover? What happens if you drive in the rain? Does water just go all over the engine????
