  • I always get asked via social media what are the best modifications for the Honda Civic Fn2 typeR before we tune them on the ecutek software. So I thought I would make a list from our experiences here at Dynodaze. As you know I own an FN2 and absolutely love it so I'm always happy to chat away about these amazing cars. I'm going to make this list in some form of logical order just in case you were buying one part at a time.
So First up Induction kit! Important to get some cold air in so our choice is the CPL Big bore Induction kit. We do also like the Skunk2 and the Hybrid Racing CAI.
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
Next Up and removing one of the biggest restrictions for the FN2 is the exhaust manifold. We like the the Japspeed 421 manifold that replaces the stock manifold and cat so yes this is a decat and is NOT road legal. For those that want to stay legal the best parts for the job are the Piper manifold and Sports cat Combo.
    Japspeed 421
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
    Piper Manifold
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
    Piper Sports Cat
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
Moving on to the exhaust system and whilst bigger is better if you follow our TH-cam channel you will know we love the Tegiwa 70mm cat back exhaust. This is absolute value for money as it’s a good bore size and quality. After this system, the Tegiwa developed Milltek 3inch is better for power but is quite a hike in price.
    Tegiwa 70mm

    Milltek 3 inch
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
Ok so we have induction kit and exhaust system sorted, next logically we are onto Inlet Manifold and there is no contest here. On the Honda Civic FN2 TypeR ONLY spend your money on the RRC Inlet manifold. We have Mapped countless FN2 TypeR and this is the Part that makes the world of difference if the above parts are in place.
    RRC Inlet Manifold
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
And that completes our “Best Mods for the Honda Civic Fn2 TypeR” before our custom tuning with Ecutek software at Dynodaze.
For those of you who have had great success like us with these mods bolted on already, take at look at 3 more items to push on NA:-
Drag Cartel Drop in cams ( I use these myself )
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
RDX Injectors ( needed for cams )
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
and yes finally you will need a clutch at this stage no doubt and this Xtreme Stage 1 offers the ability to deal with some power and torque and retains a like OEM feel at your feet
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
Bonus round seen as we have mentioned a clutch, a must for all Honda Civic Fn2 TypeR Owners is the HEL Braided Clutch Damper bypass Line. This made such a difference on my own car. Fitting this is easy and makes the clutch peddle feel far better and lifts the biting point in most case off the carpet. Trust me you need this no matter what stage your FN2 is at.
    www.dynodazeperformanceparts....
Anyway always here to answer questions and thanks for reading. Wishing you the best with your FN2 and hoping I get some time to go drive mine, as that’s what makes me happy!
Honda Civic Fn2 Type R just gets better with a Dynodaze Custom Ecutek Feature Map!

Last week I fitted a Scorpion resonated cat back system on my fn2. That kit had 4 clamps . The fit needed a bit of jiggling about , bit overall very good quality. Looking at this Milltek one id say the quality isn't quite as good. I used loctite high performance copper gasket maker on each joint before clamping. Only time will tell if it's up to it. Says it's resistant to 350c. If that doesn't hold I'll use one resistant to 1000c

Try fitting one on your drive way , three times Ive had it in bits to sort out the blowing joints and every time it gets harder and harder to get it apart and back together again as the OE clamps put a deform in the joint , plus those tail pipes either knock against the chassis or tap against the tail pipe surrounds there is no happy medium. Think im just going to get it cut and welded up end to end.

What a shame about the system! Sounds like it’s going to be a pain with the potential blows and all of the clamps, it’s crazy!
It’s a shame no one knew about the amount of joins or lack of flanges prior to ordering. Fingers crossed for the owner!

Wow im surprised with Milltek, Rich is right the quality is not the same like it used to. I fitted a Milltek to my golf 6 years ago and the quality of my old exhaust has better welds.

Any issues with the tdi north 3 inch exhaust fitting wise anddoes it fit to the oem manifold, will go for a solid fab mani when i can afford it and do i have to get my car mapped on a cpl big bore intake ?

I have a M2 full system to fit that's going to replace my Martelius system. Changing it for the exact reasons you mentioned in this video. It has too many unnecessary sections and also those clamps. It always end's up blowing it's been a pain in the arse

Nvidia Q300 is not much better for the Fn2.. they used the clamp system and i can tell you...one hard launch and it hits all over the bottom of the car. It didnt even follow the exhaust channels centered underneath .
ive had to take it to a performance shop to cut and tweak and weld the fcker back together ...and its been good thus far. this was purchased Before i discovered you guys on youtube. it does sound awesome ...but...
had i known the Teg 70mm was so recommended i wouldve bought it instead and saved myself the disappointments and mucking about.

I don't rate milltek, never have. One look at the welds for me says it all. You get what you pay for at the end of the day, and I'd much rather spend the extra money on a good quality brand like Fujitsubo, expensive but worth it

  • @bw8476

Is that just a sudden thing with the amount of pieces and MIG welds? If I was spending the money I'd want it tigged . Also there's no excuse for stickers everywhere and a manufacturer should spec. easy-peel. They've lost a sale there I will go with Tegiwa!
