  • Solid subframe and differential bushings are in! Removal and installation using the cup and threaded rod tool was relatively easy except for the front subframe bushings. These were a PITA! This might be specific to the bimmerword subframe bushings, but I don’t see how it’s possible to press the front subframe bushings through without a hydraulic press.

Great DIY guide here. I have been watching since you installed your AP brakes.
I am planning to do this job in the future and the only thing I might suggest (unless the installation instructions advise against it) is to grease the bushing housings before installing the bushings. I haven't done this job on a BMW yet, but I installed solid aluminum bushings into my old 180SX years ago and the combination of grease and heating the housing with a heat gun before grabbing the frozen bushing made the install very easy. I actually just hammered them in with a piece of wood as a drift back then. I will likely get a bushing press for the M3, but I think the temperature really helps the tolerances and working as quickly as possible before they equalize made a significant difference. The bushings I installed with grease never had any issues with the subframe moving on the bushing or anything funky and that included years of drifting abuse on track.
Keep posting videos! i really enjoy this channel.

Thanks! I was definitely going to use grease if this didn’t work.

Brave man. I think I'll just remove the subframe+diff and just leave the bushings to a shop hahaha, definitely got secondhand headache from watching the battle

Glad I went with the Condor racing subframe bushings. Just had to whack them in with a rubber mallet😂😂

I installed my carbon fiber drive shaft a month ago. The diff is leaking and have to replace the seals. All you have to do is disconnect the drive shaft and axles and the three mounting nuts and bolts and the diff lowers right?

heat up the frame, ice the busing,l and little bit of grease works better.

Must the bushing be oriented a specific way

Great video, I've been following this build! How many miles are on the old diff bushings- were there any cracks or noticeable wear on them? I'm considering replacing the diff bushings on my E92 from under the car. The subframe bushings seem like a huge amount of work to do.

Diff bushings were fine since the car has low miles, but they’re soft. Esp the big one in the rear. For the subframe, it’d be a lot easier if you go with poly.

thank you for doing this video. Picking up a supercharged car and want to do this job so I dont break diff bolts. Guess well really see if I need to buy a press when the time comes 😂
