I'm pretty sure the pattern is supposed to go underneath the thing you put your beads on, that way you can see through it and don't have to count how far you are from the edge.

Funny you mention it.. Because the first rendition of these were called 'bindies' and they underwent a massive lawsuit because the water activated glue was poisonous.
Seen these before as "Bindeez" or in America called Aqua Dots. There was a major recall because they "accidentally" made the beads with GHB in them.
Laughing at this for another reason from Canada where the Ped is pronounced like bed.. I was more confused than I like to admit at first.
Small beads that stick to things when dampened? That sounds like a fantastic thing to sell to children!

Yup. Thats one of the reasons the older sets were recalled. Kids swallowed them and they formed a mass in their throats closing off airways.

Arvetis the instructions do suggest putting a pattern under the grid -- and note the shape of the patterns: they're made to fit. I do think I'd have used excess water, especially on the narrow bits, just to be sure (I'd probably have put a few beads in a little water together just to see if they'd swell up and stick together -- yes, that sounds kinky, I know). Mike did wait extra time for the water to dry, I'll give him that.
I did this with my kid and you really need to wait until it's dry. I think the water just activates a glue/adhesive in the beads which then has to dry to create a good bond. We put my kid's creations in the sunlight for an hour and that worked like a charm.
It's almost like following the instructions with a product is an integral part of a good review. XD
Because everything he uses does not work the way it's supposed to.

First, they were Aqua Dots. Then they discovered that they contained GHB. So they recalled them and brought them back as Pixos, then Beados, and now Bindeez.

I saw a box of these in Wilkinson's last weekend. My initial reaction was identical to that of Mike's at 0:02. Seroiusly, who thought it would be a good idea to market these in Britain under that name?
There's also a similar product called Quixels. It's like Beados but it's pixel art! There's also a voxel version called Quixels 3D.
Here's a fun fact about these things:
Every few years they get recalled or something similar because of the chemicals they use, then then next year they seem to come back with I different name. Each time they come back the stickyness seems to get worse.
I remember giving my daughter some of these called bindees and you only needed 3 water sprays and 10 minutes before it stuck together properly.
I was given these back in the early 2000s before they discontinued them the first time cuz toddlers ate them and died cuz they tore their stomachs

I know this video is old but I used to have these as a kid! I made so many different creations with them, so they do work. I think I remember though that you don't spray them that much because it takes a lot longer for them to dry. I think I did like 2 or 3 sprits and then let it dry and then slowly pushed them out of their sockets to get the creation out. And they were really sturdy when they did dry completely. But this was still entertaining to watch and i'm glad I got to see something from my childhood be on your show!
You didn't even try to fill the pen with cheese. Can the pen grate cheese? I have to know.

He really didn't though. He did everything that the instructions said. It seems like just a shit product.
please note that he literally only mainly sprayed one part of it, i used to have the original version of this (aqua dots) and the trick was to literally get everywhere wet with water. (he mainly sprayed the head which explains the tail breaking)
He did what the instructions told him to do. A lot of people on here bitch that he doesn't read the instructions or does something different. The instructions didn't say to completely soak the area. Plus, this version of the product, probably, isn't as good as the original.
nah i'm not saying he did it wrong, but i'm saying it is a possiblity considering the way it crumbled. and chances are yes it sucks more due to different chemicals

ten minutes of Mike Jeavons not following directions. Hence why I love his infomercialism videos. That and when he at US MRE meals for a week he thought that they ate one packet a day of MRE not realizing one MRE is one square meal. That was hilarious.

Beados were originally banned in Australia, after they found the glue they used was toxic. They recalled them and later re-released them with different glue. That's probably why they don't stick together properly.
Mike, the other name for these are "Aqua Beads" and yes, you need to add more water to them, and wait at least an hour if not more from them to dry. They are good fun, and the children I looked after loved them and could spend hours playing with them, making multiple patterens, wating for them to dry then making more hist they wait.

I mean, you're right because (as usual) he didn't follow the directions; if he had, it probably would have been a lot easier to assemble the snake because he would have just had to trace the design.

In the US these were called Aqua Dots. It was pulled from stores because the glue breaks down to GHB if swallowed.
They had to recall these down in Australia and re-brand them because a kid swallowed one and it turned out the adhesive synthesized compounds similar to LSD when mixed with stomach acid.

I had the old fashioned version of this with little actual beads that you put on a pattern and you'd iron over a piece of wax paper and they'd melt together. This is certainly a lot safer but hell burns give a kid character.
The name is so much more unfortunate considering that the original version of this product, Aqua Dots, had to be pulled from store shelfs because it contained GHB: the date rape drug...
fun fact: I once got grounded because my mum heard me watching this advert. she came in about 30 seconds later raging at me thinking it said "pedos" and we didn't have the luxury of rewinding the television, so I sat there for a solid minute being told off for it, the next week of my life sucked

It's like a level of purgatory. yes, you can go to heaven but first you have to successfully use this kit to make various designs. damn....the drying time alone is 20 mins & it keeps falling apart. Damn.

I would just like to point out that in the US we pronounce pedo with a soft E. In fact when Mike first said it with a sharp E, my mind went straight to the scene from That 70's Show where Fez eats the Cheetos with pee on them and Kelso calls them peetos.
The scary thing is the American version was mistakenly made with a date rape chemical for its "glue". It's long since been fixed, but still. Scary.
What a slow and tedious pain this would be for anyone.
Hey hey! Something I own! Different version, same product. Works OK, but you do sometimes have to err on the side of caution with regards to water (I've found more to be better) and dry time. The weaker connections (the curls in the snake, in this case) tend to be more fragile. I swear it's just fricking glue balls though. Fancy, colourful glue.

The thing that bothers me is those little bags. Would it have been so much to ask that the manufacturer package those beads in resealable bags? A kid is gonna lose those extra beads by the second use and you'll be finding them everywhere for years to follow.

I used to have p.. I mean beados as a kid. I never actually put them in the pen, I just took them out the little packets and started spraying water on them to see if they stick to my hands, which they did. Then I tried putting them in an airsoft gun. I was a weird kid
though they should patent that, make a beado firing airsoft gun and your target is sprayed with water so the bullets stick

It doesn't look like very high quality stuff, but, at the same time, you went with one of the thinnest designs it had. I guess more spraying or having the bottle closer would work better.

Wish you would have tried again with more water and letting them dry like a day or so, just to see if the concept worked, but underestimated what you'd need.

The cubes work far better for what it's worth. Fun for pixel art, but since they don't sell in bulk, completely cost prohibited.

A remarkable amount of engineering for such a limited result.
I'm pretty sre that they are supposed to get much wetter to work. Still even in the best setup they look like they aren't even going to work for even more then a few hours before coming apart. At least with the heated stuff they are solidly bonded together.

Nobody picking up on the fact that all the parts of this toy look like minitiarized sex toys. The Beado dispenser is like a miniaturized dildo, the water sprayer a butt plug, and that other blue thing is like one of those fleshlight things kind of. This product really wasn't very well thought out. Or maybe it was?
