The Irwin LW series of locking hex wrenches are a lifesaver at the track, and I carry all 3 sizes. Minimal weight for maximum grip on things that may be a bit seized, rounded, etc… also saves you if you don’t have the wrench you need for whatever reason.

Strip the car down, and get everything ready for assembly. Having everything ready and already modified for final install.
Then put all the tools away and start assembly of the car. With the cart empty.
Everything that you used from the main tool chest, is what you needed on that cart for track day. Disregard the sizes and other tools that weren’t needed on the cart.
    There ya go 😅

Carry your tools and spares based upon what you’re willing to tackle at the track.

This is a very helpful video, I find myself referring back to this one! Totally true you need to tailor it to your specific car, but a tool I find super helpful (and should apply to nearly any car) is a brake pad spreader! I've changed more pads at the track than anything else...just makes the job easier. That and spare wheel studs and a wheel stud installer #subaruproblems
And a tire crayon for marking tires.

fascinating, makes my aviation maintenance ocd go nuts, only one of each tool, in its slot and if a tool goes missing the planes don't fly ;)

I'm rebuilding out my tool box setup for the track and am debating Kaizen foam. Yes, it makes it super easy to see when a tool is missing, but also also takes up a lot more space and inhibits how much you can pack in a drawer or box.

what about a checklist (or inventory) that you can reference to make sure that you have what you need at each race or track session? "one of everything CRC makes is nice if they're a sponsor" but we missed 2 key things for our car in the last race - MAF cleaner and electronics cleaner..
